Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Once-Born, Twice-Born Zen' is a fresh treatment of the two major Zen schools of Japan. Its biographical and comparative approach is both original and very readable. The use of William James' typology, along with other phenomenological categories, provides the reader with helpful handles for distinguishing the schools, as well as similar tendencies in other religious traditions. The book should make an excellent text for introductory and middle-level courses in which one is trying to get students to develop categories for understanding religious experience and behavior. Readers will see something of themselves in the range of biographical examples given, and will detect their own tendencies through the use of this method. -- Bardwell Smith

He has a renowned reputation that He has to protect. If anything He ever did was undone, He would at that moment cease to be the all-powerful, sovereign God that He is.

Book The End Times Revealed in Revelation

Download or read book The End Times Revealed in Revelation written by Kathy Gibson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-08-29 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the Bible, Genesis is the first book, the book of beginning; and Revelation is the last book, the book of closing, like the grand finale of the Bible, although you may not picture it that way. Like most people, I thought Revelation was all about things that were hard to understand. But with the Lord's help, nothing is impossible with Him, and that is what He has done for me. If you ever put a jigsaw puzzle together, you know each piece must be put in its correct place before you have a completed picture, and Revelation is like that. As we go through Revelation, puzzle pieces will be found in its chapters, beginning with seven churches. Then more pieces are found in God's wrath, starting with the seven seals, seven trumpets, seven vials, seven worship celebrations, and seven beatitudes. And each of those sevens will form a completed picture of how the end-times are revealed in Revelation. The thousand-year Millennium is next, with Jesus Christ ruling and reigning on the earth as the King of kings. And after that, Satan and sin is finished forever, and eternity begins without end! In this study of Revelation, we will see it is an amazing book with a wonderful ending! So why study Revelation? Because in Revelation 1:3, we are told, "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand."

Book Salvation Station

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ruben Gonzales
  • Publisher : WestBow Press
  • Release : 2023-03-27
  • ISBN : 1664294996
  • Pages : 178 pages

Download or read book Salvation Station written by Ruben Gonzales and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-03-27 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Salvation Station was written because of the author’s enlightenment to fully comprehend Eternity, Faith, and Salvation through Jesus. This comes with a basic understanding that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Many people are exactly where Ruben Gonzales was before he accepted his born again gift from our Creator in Heaven. Being born again is not a religion, it is a life changed by God. Many people may not have the opportunity to read the scriptures (like the author did not have until age 47). Therefore, this book is a short cut for the readers so they can tune into Wisdom with less effort and increase their Faith. The book features stories from individuals who had their lives changed considerably because of receiving a real life miracle from God. Salvation Station is his bare bone plea to make sure the readers are ready for eternity. Time is running out as each one of us has an appointed time to meet our Creator. The last days will be like the days of Noah. How many people do you think there were pounding on the side of the Ark when water was already up to their ankles? How many bloodstains were left there on the sides of the boat from the knuckles of those perishing as the Ark began to float? Salvation Station can be an eternal life saver if the reader receives the free gift of salvation coming from our Lifesavior. For others, who are already born again, it will help increase Faith as they make their transition into Heaven.

Book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 54

Download or read book The Complete Works of C H Spurgeon Volume 54 written by Spurgeon, Charles H. and published by Delmarva Publications, Inc.. This book was released on 2015-05-04 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 54 Sermons 3073-3124 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to publish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frustrated and fed up at trying to live your life by the list? You know, it is that “corporate world” model of priority-keeping which is so ingrained in our culture (something first, then something second, and then something else third, and so on). God at Center provides the challenge to embrace a biblical paradigm for priority-keeping which does not follow the world, but the word. Is there really an alternative to putting “God first” in our lives? Yes, there is! And it is a more “biblical” paradigm, one that has God at the center of our lives. With God in his rightful place in your life and applying a fuller understanding of the Great Commandment (which is in and of itself a “priority-keeping” passage), you will embrace a lifestyle of seeking to love God with all your heart, soul, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself. You will finally make sense of who you are, what God wants you to know, and what you can do about it.

Book Child of God or Child of the Devil

Download or read book Child of God or Child of the Devil written by Robert Adams and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-09-30 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today many churches have embraced “easy-believism” – mental assent to all the facts about Jesus will get them to heaven. They say they believe, have faith in, or have put their trust in the following Scripture. “GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONE AND ONLY SON THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.” —(JOHN 3:16)(NIV) I think these people do believe everything about Jesus from His being deity, took on the form of man, was sinless, took on their sin, was punished, crucified, arose from the grave on the third day, is in heaven now, and will be the final judge of both the children of God and the children of the devil. However, the demons also believe everything from Jesus incarnation to the fact he will be their final judge. When Jesus approached the demon possessed man, the demons said, “What do you want with us, son of God? Have you come to torture us before the appointed time?” —(Matthew 8:29)(NIV) In Matthew 7:21, at the final judgement, Jesus tells people who have been prophesizing in His name, casting out demons in His name and even doing miracles in His name, “Depart from me I never you!” We know the demons are not going to heaven, but what is missing in the lives of the people who do miraculous things in Jesus name? Furthermore, Jesus in three of His parables tells us about people that act like, think like, and believe they are Christians – children of God, but they are not. Believing in Jesus means not only believing in what He did for us but what He said. Jesus says there are three other things we must do to become a child of God. Other Scriptures declare other requirements for becoming a child of God. This book challenges us to examine ourselves to see if we have met and committed to all those requirements.

Book Loving the Key to Happiness and Blessings

Download or read book Loving the Key to Happiness and Blessings written by Robert Adams and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-12-03 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Loving, The Key to Happiness and Blessings is really three books in one. Each one can individually bring happiness and blessings into the life of the reader. The first book is chapter one and two. Chapter one tells us who God says we should love if we are one of his children. Because of what God and Jesus did in loving us, chapter two teaches what the Bible says are the prerequisites and requirements for becoming one of God‘s children and having the Holy Spirit to help us do what is in chapter one. If we haven’t met all those prerequisites and requirements already, we can believe and act on them and become one of God’s children for the greatest happiness and blessing of our life time. The second book, chapters three through seven, focuses on how we can obtain happiness and blessings by following what the Bible teaches us on how we can love God, our neighbors, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and everyone including—yes, even our enemies. The third book, chapter eight, tells how we obtain happiness and blessings as we equip ourselves for loving living through Bible study and prayer. It teaches us the importance of each one separately and how to tie the two together with a daily quiet time with God. These three books combine to help the reader obtain the greatest happiness and blessings.
