Book Book of 1Enoch Christ Centered Universalism Mystery Essays in First Christianity

Download or read book Book of 1Enoch Christ Centered Universalism Mystery Essays in First Christianity written by Jonathan Ramachandran and published by AnonymousChristian.Org. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book of 1Enoch is the one which is quoted word for word by Apostle Jude in the Bible. There are other types of Enoch labelled today as 2Enoch etc. which are different. Many of the earlier fathers of the Church such as St. Justin Martyr, St. Ireneous of Lyons, St. Clement of Alexandria, Tertullian, Origen of Alexandria and even the Epistle of Barnabas considered this Book of 1Enoch as Scripture. Till today, some Churches consider this Book as part of the Biblical Canon. In this Book, we explore an interesting prophecy in Chapter 50 (of a well known translation of this book) which may Speak of a Christ Centered Universalism Hope in some way. In support of that exegesis, we look a few possibly related Bible Verses and even other similar First Christianity Writings which may help us understand this Prophecy better. Since it's not in one of the 66 Books of the Bible, we don't explicitly teach it as a 100% certain doctrine but view it as a possibility. This does not mean that the Prophecy is probabilistic but rather that we don't know for sure. Only God knows but studying these First Christianity Orthodox writings gives an insight to such a rarely known Hope within Christianity. Peace to you.

Book Lake of Fire Hope for the Wicked One Day Essays in First Christianity

Download or read book Lake of Fire Hope for the Wicked One Day Essays in First Christianity written by Jonathan Ramachandran and published by AnonymousChristian.Org. This book was released on 2019-01-01 with total page 1603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christ Centered Universalism has been a Hope in First Christianity among the earliest orthodox Christians as testified even as late in St. Augustine of Hippo's infamous quote in that even he didn't call them as heretics but soft hearted Christians who did not deny Holy Scripture. A form of Christian Universalism by Origen of Alexandria may have been condemned by a later council. For protestants, please take note that both St. Augustine and that later council consists of members who Pray to Virgin Mary something which is absent from even Origen of Alexandria. Therefore, just because something is majority by later early Christianity it does not necessarily mean that it was First Christianity Doctrine. In light of this, we discuss various viewpoints, quotes by Church Fathers and Ancient Christian Writings in support of this Hope. Since the time lapse and loss of records to these First Christians being replaced by later Christianity is hard to trace or prove due to scarcity of evidences, nevertheless we endeavour to present as much as we can including some rarely known quotes within Christian Universalism Hopefuls itself. An example of a set of rare quotes which point to Christ Centered Universalism in this book which may not be popularly known is that by St. Hillary of Poitiers, the Champion of Trinity in the West and a set of interesting quotes likewise by St. Ignatius of Antioch who was a direct disciple if St. John the Apostle of Christ himself. We see traces of such an understanding in a quote by St. Justin Martyr toward the Wicked being made subject to obey God eventually as one child while St. Ireneous of Lyons has a few interesting quotes especially those that relate to the Concept of Ages/Aeons/Olam to come where in a particular instance, St. Ireneus clearly shows that the strongest phrase "ages of Ages" refers to the subset "ages" out of a larger set of "Ages" implying limitedness. Just like God of Abraham does not limit God to Abraham only, the phrase God's Glory to the Age/Aeon/Olam (singular) need not limit God's Glory to one Age only but may be highlighting it for that Age (unknown long time period). We do not need to teach it as a 100% certain doctrine but we may hope for it as the Bible Verses can also be understood consistently to present this Hope in some Way. One Day we will know and all things are possible with God Who Alone Decides. Peace to you.

Book Commentary on the Book of Enoch

Download or read book Commentary on the Book of Enoch written by John D. Ladd and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-06 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fifty years after James Bruce brought a copy of the Book of Enoch, found in Ethiopia, to England, Richard Laurence made a first modern translation. Later, R.H. Charles made another translation using some Greek excerpts, and more Ethiopian texts. Then recently, Michael A Knibb, using many texts, and partial texts, put together an ?adequate' translation. Yet, all of these translations are rough, obscure, and confusing to Christians of today. The Dead Sea Scrolls contained many copies and partial copies of the Book of Enoch, In the Dead Sea scrolls, there were found 17 copies. Comparitively, there were 30 copies of Psalms, 25 copies of Deuteronomy, 19 of Isaiah, 15 of Genesis and Exodus, 14 Of Jubilees. Jude validated The Book Of Enoch with his quote from it. Using all of the sources now available, along with an in-depth study of book, I have prepared this paraphrase/translation. Along with such, I have included an commentary to help in its comparison with the Bible. John D. Ladd was raised the son of an Assemblies of God pastor. He attended Northeast Bible College, in Pennsylvania, and later, Malone College, in Canton, Ohio. He pastored for many years, was ordained in the Assemblies of God, but later left to pastor independent churches. Preferring teaching to preaching, he has spent many years studying, reading books from the early church period, and translating\paraphrasing them for ease of use by Christians of today. This book of Enoch's has been translated, paraphrased, and now is being given commentary, to compare it with the Bible's message, to test it by the Word of God. How does it compare? Is it in agreement with the message and prophetic teachings of the Bible?

Book excerpt: The Book of Enoch is an ancient Jewish religious work, ascribed by tradition to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. Enoch contains unique material on the origins of supernatural demons and giants, why some angels fell from heaven, an explanation of why the Great Flood was morally necessary, and prophetic exposition of the thousand-year reign of the Messiah. The older sections of the text are estimated to date from about 300 BCE, and the latest part probably to the 1st century BCE.It is not part of the biblical canon as used by Jews, apart from Beta Israel. Most Christian denominations and traditions may accept the Books of Enoch as having some historical or theological interest, but they generally regard the Books of Enoch as noncanonical or noninspired. It is regarded as canonical by the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and Eritrean Orthodox Tewahedo Church, but not by any other Christian groups.

Book excerpt: Every chapter of the book of Enoch, with commentaries, opinions, speculations and theories. The verses are reproduced together with extensive commentaries, references, and ideas for follow-up. ENOCH INSIGHTS gives great insight into the book of Enoch itself, which is an ancient book of around 5000 years old and apparently the very first book ever written. The book of Enoch was banned for 1000 years during the Dark Ages, on the threat of one being burned at the stake. Why was it banned? Enoch lived in a Prediluvian world where ‘Fallen Angels’ came down from heaven and were seduced by the most beautiful women who had ever lived. The fruit of this ‘forbidden union’ were the Giants and Titans, who became cannibals and devoured mankind. Perhaps that is why we find many prediluvian cities underground? Were the prediluvian peoples hiding from man-eating giants and other monsters, such as dragons, dinosaurs and also chimeras of many types? How did the chimeras come into existence? During his lifespan which reached 365 years old, Enoch had many visions and dreams of heaven. He also visited hell and other dimensions. He prophesied about the entire ‘7000-year-History’ of mankind from the beginning to the very end with stunning accuracy

Book The Book of Enoch Updated

Download or read book The Book of Enoch Updated written by Richard Laurence and published by Trumpet Press. This book was released on 2012-07-15 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Enoch was widely read and believed by the Early Church, but came into disfavor by the Roman Catholic Church and became a lost book. The Book of Enoch was rediscovered in Egypt in the 18th century having been preserved by the Coptic Church. Unfortunately it was translated and analyzed during a time of great unbelief in God and the Bible. So also the author of the introduction, not the translator, here calls Enoch a work of fiction. He does so because he wants to discredit Christianity, but he only succeeds in authenticating the Book of Enoch, because of the numerous connections he provides between Enoch and the New Testament. Since this translation and that of R. H. Charles were first published, several copies of the Book of Enoch were found among the Dead Sea Scrolls, which further connects the book with the Jews of Palestine in the 1st century. This translation of the Book of Enoch was once popular, so I have updated the language to make it more readable today by replacing archaic words we no longer use such as "execrate" with the modern equivalent, and changing the Roman Numerals with modern numbers. Please leave a review of this book, thanks.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why is "The Book Of Enoch" so important to anyone interested in Biblical History? The answer is simple...it is directly quoted in the New Testament by Jude (vv.14-15) and themes of the book referenced in 2 Peter 2:1. Also, the first 36 chapters have been considered Scripture in the Ethiopic Coptic Church (a church who ascribes their founder as the Apostle John). Additionally, it was one of the most significant Jewish Pseudepigrapha (writings ascribed to some other than the real author*). It is believed that The Book of Enoch was taken out of the Jewish Canon by the Sanhedrin just after Jesus' death because of the prophesies they thought pointed to Jesus as the Messiah. However, The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church states, ..".this view has been increasingly questioned, especially since the discovery of the Qumran fragments [where Dead Sea Scrolls were found]; for although all the other sections of 1 Enoch are well represented in these fragments, the messianic chapters (37-71) were not represented at all. Nor are they represented in the Greek and Latin fragments. It is probable, therefore, that they are a later (Christian) insertion into the Book and that it was the New Testament which influenced them rather than vice versa."* There is no question, however, that the chapters outside chapters 37-71 are BC in their time-origin as they were part of the fragments in Qumran. For further proof, here are some stark and uncanny Book of Enoch references in the New Testament: 1.Jesus referred to The Book of Enoch; "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." (Mat 5:5) pulled from "The elect shall possess light, joy and peace, and they shall inherit the earth. (Enoch 5:7 {6:9})" 2."Wo unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation. (Luke 6:24) Woe to you who are rich, for in your riches have you trusted; but from your riches you shall be removed. (Enoch 94:8 {93:7}). 3."Ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. (Mat. 19:28) I will place each of them on a throne of glory (Enoch 108:12 {105:26}) 4."Between us and you there is a great gulf fixed. (Luke 16:26) by a chasm . . . [are] their souls are separated (Enoch 22: 9,11{22:10,12}) 5."That ye may be called the children of light (John 12:36) the good from the generation of light (Enoch 108:11 {105: 25}) 6.One direct quote in the New Testament is by Jude, a brother of Jesus Christ: Jude 1:14-15, quoting Enoch 1:9... "And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches, which ungodly sinners have spoken against him." You will love how this series of revelations help to fill in many blanks about: Genesis The description of the wickedness of the world - pre-flood of Noah How fallen angels corrupted human seed Destiny of angels Future apocalyptic events explained in more detail And much, much more! *The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church, s.v. "Enoch, Books of," 547."

Book excerpt: Few Biblical figures are as intriguing and mysterious as Enoch. He is mentioned only a few times in the canonical Hebrew Bible, but the impact of his story went on to affect the theology of many books written during the Second Temple Era. It also set the foundation for the development of many of the ideas found in the early Christian movement. Enoch's importance continued beyond the destruction of the Temple and survived in a new form in later rabbinic tradition. Anyone familiar with classical Judaism, the religion of the Bible and the Talmud, who has read the New Testament might experience a disconnect between it and the Hebrew Bible. Something is missing so to speak. Understanding the literature of the Second Temple period is critical to providing the missing links to understanding and appreciating the complex environment of evolving Jewish thought and the emergence of the early Christian movement from its sources.Discover the mystery of Enoch, and the fascinating impact it had on the development of Judaism and Christianity.

Book excerpt: Enoch - חנוך, Chanoch or Hanokh - is the name given to one of the most peculiar and mysterious biblical characters in Scripture. He was born, according to the Jewish writings, in the seventh generation after Adam, being the son of Jared, and father of Methuselah.Enoch is the subject of many Jewish and Christian traditions. He was considered the author of the Book of Enoch and also called Enoch the scribe of judgment.According to the Hebrew written tradition called Tanakh, reported in Genesis, chapter 5, verses 22-24, Enoch would have been taken by God so that he would not experience death and would have been spared the wrath of the flood:"And Enoch walked with God, after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. And Enoch walked with God; and he appeared no more, because God took him. There are two extraordinary aspects in Enoch's account, focused on in these verses, which have not been focused on in other generations: the indications in the text that he "walked with God" and the fact that he supposedly would not have died, because "God took him. These accounts were the origin of many fables and midrashim (deeper rabbinical studies) of wise Jews over the centuries. Many of them were very bothered by the fact that Enoch "only" lived 365 years, a short life span for his time, according to the book of Genesis.About this biblical character there are also the apocryphal pseudoepigraphic books: "Book of Enoch I" and "Book of Enoch II", which are part of the canon of some religious groups, mainly the Christians of Ethiopia", but which were rejected by the Christians, because they were not inspired by the Holy Spirit and the Hebrews, because they were particularly troublesome from the political point of view. However, the epistle of Judas, in the biblical New Testament, makes express mention of the Book of Enoch, making a brief quotation in verses 14 and 15 of its single chapter. According to The Book of Enoch: with comparative study of the main translations, there are several books attributed to Enoch, three of which are the best known: The Book of Enoch (or Ethiopian Enoch or Enoch 1), The Second Book of Enoch (or Slavonic Enoch) and The Third Book of Enoch (or Hebrew Enoch). The best known is the first one, which is included in the Ethiopian bible, is considered authentic by the Jews of Ethiopia and was considered authentic by the Jews until about the year 200, having been part of the Hebrew biblical corpus until that time and having been removed by a rabbi, for several reasons, including politics. About 200 years later, St. Jerome, in charge of creating the Christian bible, based himself on the principle of "Hebrew truth", which meant that the books considered authentic by the Jews (from the Old Testament) were authentic. For this reason, the Book of Enoch fell into oblivion in the West, until it was found more than a thousand years later. The Book of Enoch (Enoch 1) was first translated and published in Brazil in 1982. The Book of Enoch is extremely controversial, because it addresses sexual and racial issues. One of the controversies is that of the fallen angels who descended from heaven to have sexual relations with women they considered attractive and generated giants that destroyed the Earth. Another polemic is that according to one passage, Adam and Eve had black children and Adam was white, which indicates that Eve was black.According to the account in Genesis about the age of the patriarchs, Seven and their children were still alive when Enoch was taken by God, as well as Methuselah and Lamech.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enoch appears in the Book of Genesis of the Pentateuch as the seventh of the ten pre-Deluge Patriarchs. Genesis recounts that each of the pre-Flood Patriarchs lives for several centuries, has a son, lives more centuries, and then dies. The exception is Enoch, who does not experience death "for God took him." Furthermore, Gen 5:22-29 states that Enoch lived 365 years which is extremely short in the context of his peers. The brief account of Enoch in Genesis 5 ends with the note that he "was no more" and that "God took him." Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote one which is for to come. Just the historical text, no commentary or footnotes.

Book excerpt: 'The book of Enoch is one of the strangest of the books left out of the Biblical canon. Filled with goetic angels and demons, and visions of inconceivable lands beyond the sky...' The Book of Enoch the Prophet Translated by the late Richard Laurence Modern research sees in the Epistle of Jude a work of the second century: but as orthodox theologians accept its contents as the inspired utterance of an Apostle, let us diligently search the Hebrew Scriptures for this important forecast of the second Advent of the Messiah. In vain we turn over the pages of the sacred Canon; not even in the Apocrypha can we trace one line from the pen of the marvellous being to whom uninterrupted immortality is assigned by apostolic 1 interpretation of Genesis v. 24. Were the prophecies of Enoch, therefore, accepted as a Divine revelation on that momentous day when Jesus explained the Scriptures, after his resurrection, to Jude and his apostolic brethren; and have we moderns betrayed our trust by excluding an inspired record from the Bible? Reverting to the second century of Christianity, we find Irenæus and Clement of Alexandria citing the Book of Enoch without questioning its sacred character. Thus, Irenæus, assigning to the Book of Enoch an authenticity analogous to that of Mosaic literature, affirms that Enoch, although a man, filled the office of God's messenger to the angels. Tertullian, who flourished at the close of the first and at the beginning of the second century, whilst admitting that the "Scripture of Enoch" is not received by some because it is not included in the Hebrew Canon, speaks of the author as "the most ancient prophet, Enoch," and of the book as the divinely inspired autograph of that immortal patriarch, preserved by Noah in the ark, or miraculously reproduced by him through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Tertullian adds, "But as Enoch has spoken in the same scripture of the Lord, and 'every scripture suitable for edification is divinely inspired,' let us reject nothing which belongs to us. It may now seem to have been disavowed by the Jews like all other scripture which speaks of Christ--a fact which should cause us no surprise, as they were not to receive him, even when personally addressed by himself." These views Tertullian confirms by appealing to the testimony of the Apostle Jude. The Book of Enoch was therefore as sacred as the Psalms or Isaiah in the eyes of the famous theologian, on whom modern orthodoxy relies as the chief canonist of New Testament scripture. Origen (A.D. 254), in quoting Hebrew literature, assigns to the Book of Enoch the same authority as to the Psalms. In polemical discussion with Celsus, he affirms that the work of the antediluvian patriarch was not accepted in the Churches as Divine; and modern theologians have accordingly assumed that he rejected its inspiration: but the extent to which he adopts its language and ideas discloses personal conviction that Enoch was one of the greatest of the prophets. Thus, in his treatise on the angels, we read: "We are not to suppose that a special office has been assigned by mere accident to a particular angel: as to Raphael, the work of curing and healing; to Gabriel, the direction of wars; to Michael, the duty of hearing the prayers and supplications of men." 2 From what source but assumed revelation could Origen obtain and publish these circumstantial details of ministerial administration in heaven?

Book Almsgiving and Atonement Mystery Essays in First Christianity

This book was released on 2021-01-07 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Book is written to highlight some First Christian Perspectives regarding Almsgiving and Atonement. We do not believe that Almsgiving can remove sins as only the Blood of Christ can do that making us “New” in the “Resurrection” where we ‘taste the powers of the age to come now’ by His Mercy. We do believe that Almsgiving does remove some Judgment of sins. Regardless of how Scriptural one might argue, we all point to ‘men of God’ which history sets before us as the ‘founding persons’ of certain theology or exegesis. So if God used John Calvin (as almost all protestants will agree) and John Calvin in turn points to St. Augustine, then if St. Augustine contemplated these same doctrinal points to some extent and is not a heretic, so we contemplating on these possibilities likewise to even a deeper extent without concluding anything must likewise be not deemed as ‘false teachers’, right? If this Book causes your faith in Christ to stumble in any way, we encourage you to stop reading but if it increases, solidifies or increases your faith in Lord Jesus Christ, we exhort you to continue reading it in any way that may be beneficial as you may seek our Most Blessed Saviour and Pray for His Leading in this accordingly. Thank you for reading it & Peace to you!
