Book Bond Dissociation Energies in Sulphur Organic Compounds

Download or read book Bond Dissociation Energies in Sulphur Organic Compounds written by Robert Lawrence Lauchlan and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In a discussion of the strengths of chemical bonds it is important to distinguish between two concepts, the 'bond dissociation energy' and the 'bond energy term'. Since chemical reactions involve the formation and rupture of bonds, it is clear that bond dissociation energies must be considered among the main determining factors of chemical reactivity. However, bond properties, such as the bond length, are more effectively correlated with the bond energy term which represents that fraction of the total molecular binding energy that can be ascribed to a particular bond as it exists in the undisturbed molecule." --

Download or read book Bond Dissociation Energies in Organic Compounds written by Ah Ti Chun-Hion Tan and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Chemical reactions involve ordinarily the breaking of bonds in the reacting molecules and the formation of bonds in the products; they are usually accompanied by changes in enthalpy. Although the stability of a molecule or a radical, as expressed in terms of bond strengths, and its reactivity do not necessarily go hand in hand, a knowledge of the former is essential for the full understanding of the other factors which influence the course of a chemical process. Book Atoms Chemical Bonds and Bond Dissociation Energies

Download or read book Atoms Chemical Bonds and Bond Dissociation Energies written by Sandor Fliszar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical bonds, their intrinsic energies in ground-state molecules and the energies required for their actual cleavage are the subject of this book. The theory, modelled after a description of valence electrons in isolated atoms, explains how intrinsic bond energies depend on the amount of electronic charge carried by the bond-forming atoms. It also explains how bond dissociation depends on these charges. While this theory vividly explains thermochemical stability, future research could benefit from a better understanding of bond dissociation: if we learn how the environment of a molecule affects its charges, we also learn how it modifies bond dissociation in that molecule. This essay is aimed at theoretical and physical-organic chemists who are looking for new perspectives to old problems.

Book Homolytic Bond Dissociation Energies for C H Bonds Adjacent to Sulfur and Aromatic Moieties

Download or read book Homolytic Bond Dissociation Energies for C H Bonds Adjacent to Sulfur and Aromatic Moieties written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sulfur-containing compounds are precursors for thiyl radicals at coal liquefaction temperatures due to the weakness of The and S-S bonds. Thiyl radicals play important roles in hydrogen atom shuttling between benzylic positions and catalyze the cleavage and the formation of strong C-C bonds. Although many reactions of thiyl and other sulfur-containing radicals are qualitatively understood, the homolytic bond dissociation energies (EDE's) and the thermochemistry associated with many key high molecular weight hydrocarbon and sulfur-containing organic structures important to coal is lacking because they are inappropriate for gas-phase techniques. The measurement of BDE's has been proven to be difficult even in the simplest of molecules.

Book Reaction Heats and Bond Strengths

Download or read book Reaction Heats and Bond Strengths written by C. T. Mortimer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reaction Heats and Bond Strengths presents the variations in the heats of particular types of reaction. This book covers a variety of topics, including the hydrogenation and polymerization of olefinic compounds, the dissociation of organic and organo-metallic compounds, and the molecular-addition compounds. Organized into 10 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the concept of bond energy that can be very useful where a comparison is being made between two dissimilar molecules. This text then examines the strain in cyclopropane and cyclobutane, which is largely a result of angular strain due to compression of the tetrahedral angle in the carbon–carbon bonding. Other chapters consider the experimental thermochemical data for some conjugated molecules. This book discusses as well the significance of representing a molecule, which originated from the concept of resonance. The final chapter deals with bond strength in phosphorus, silicon, and sulfur compounds. This book is a valuable resource for postgraduate students.
