David was a farmer. They were parents of seven children born between 1826 and 1842 in Ohio. Samuel Boies (1835-1904), son of David and Elizabeth Boies, was born in Brighton, Ohio, and died in New Castle, Colorado. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Holman (1845-1908) in 1863. She was born in Kentucky. They were parents of eleven children born between 1865 and 1887 in Iowa and Colorado.
