Book What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body Fourth Edition

Download or read book What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body Fourth Edition written by Melissa Malde and published by Plural Publishing. This book was released on 2020-06-05 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body, Fourth Edition gives singers and teachers a Body Mapping resource—from anatomy and physiology to body awareness—that helps them discover and correct misconceptions about how their bodies are designed and how they function. This book provides detailed descriptions of the structures and movements necessary for healthy and efficient body awareness, balance, breathing, phonation, resonance, articulation, and gesture. Many voice books focus on the anatomical facts, but leave singers asking, "How can I apply this to my singing?" What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body helps to answer that question, providing practical exercises and detailed illustrations. New to This Edition: * Updated and revised content throughout the text * Bulleted review sections for each chapter * New and updated links to recommended videos * Information on Biotensegrity and how it pertains to Body Mapping, along with helpful links to resources on the subject * An expanded glossary What Every Singer Needs to Know About the Body includes audio and video recordings of the exploratory exercises. This book provides the technical foundation for singers of all styles. The authors do not espouse a single method or attempt to teach singing techniques or styles. Rather, they describe the movements of singing with accuracy and detail so that singers may experiment on their own and communicate with each other in a common language.

Book Deliverance and Spiritual Body Mapping

Download or read book Deliverance and Spiritual Body Mapping written by Carolyn Steidley and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2016-06-13 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Will you go to hell for me? asked the Lord. I remember standing in my living room stunned. It took me a few days to be able to answer him. I replied with a shaking, Yes. He then took me in a vision to the gates of hell. I could smell the sulfur and feel the heat. The gates were huge thick black iron, they swung open as I approached. I was standing on stepping stones just big enough for my feet and lava swirled around the stones. I heard the Lords voice, Dont be afraid Carolyn. I have a net around you and yours. I looked and saw a large net all around me. I continued along the stones and then I saw it - a hand reached desperately to me out of the lava. I grabbed a hold and pulled for all I was worth! The vision ended. From that vision, I learned there are people all around us who are in the own personal hells. We are to set the captives free! The Lord gave me a way to help. It is called Spiritual Body Mapping and it works! It is an amazing way to quickly diagnose and target the strengths as well as areas that need to be addressed in an individuals life. As you read this book, I pray for the spirit of wisdom and revelation to enlighten you. God Bless you, Carolyn Steidley

The first part, Awareness, addresses wellness and embodiment in music, exploring how our bodies are constructed and how the use of our bodies as instruments affects function. Using approaches including Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique, this part helps readers discover adverse habits that interfere with natural movement, and nurture awareness of the body. The second part, Mindfulness, explores how meditative practice can be incorporated into every stage of concert preparation and embedded within the daily life of the musician. Offering mindfulness exercises related to each stage of the music-making process, these chapters provide strategies for readers to enhance their well-being and focus. Centered in the understanding of the musician as a whole being, this book provides an essential guide to how practices of awareness and mindfulness can allow musicians to better care for themselves and flourish in their artistic careers.

Book The Globalization of Musics in Transit

Download or read book The Globalization of Musics in Transit written by Simone Krüger and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-04 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the particularities of music migration and tourism in different global settings, and provides current, even new perspectives for ethnomusicological research on globalizing musics in transit. The dual focus on tourism and migration is central to debates on globalization, and their examination—separately or combined—offers a useful lens on many key questions about where globalization is taking us: questions about identity and heritage, commoditization, historical and cultural representation, hybridity, authenticity and ownership, neoliberalism, inequality, diasporization, the relocation of allegiances, and more. Moreover, for the first time, these two key phenomena—tourism and migration—are studied conjointly, as well as interdisciplinary, in order to derive both parallels and contrasts. While taking diverse perspectives in embracing the contemporary musical landscape, the collection offers a range of research methods and theoretical approaches from ethnomusicology, anthropology, cultural geography, sociology, popular music studies, and media and communication. In so doing, Musics in Transit provides a rich exemplification of the ways that all forms of musical culture are becoming transnational under post-global conditions, sustained by both global markets and musics in transit, and to which both tourists and diasporic cosmopolitans make an important contribution.
