Book excerpt: Covering the Cosmos from before the Big Bang through to the creation of our universe and up to but not including our arrival on stage; our will is not yet imposed, we had no hand, act nor part in its provisions, beyond investigating to understand what has been delivered us. Cosmos – includes; • The creation mechanism for our Universe and why there exists a possible Multiverse. • The creation mechanisms of the galaxies with their diversity of Star types. • The space exploration of our Solar System. • The Earth and Moon from their birth to their life driving engines for our planet. • The evolutionary processes that led to our arrival on the planet. • Our natural world with its great events. • Documentary video links on all topics of the book are included. The story is factual in manner, in the proper tradition of reporting, no personal opinions are expressed. The life stories of the standout personalities, in text and video, without whom what is now known, could not have been unraveled, in the case of Cosmos, they are; • Galileo Galilei • Isaac Newton • Albert Einstein • Charles Darwin This is a Video Book, vBook, beyond its text there are 150+ video titles, 100+ viewing hours, downloaded and stored locally on your computer, to be able to watch anytime, offline, without the need for local internet connection. There is a 7th level, hyperlinked, at its base, which brings further background content, from Wikipedia, to those who choose to read further into any of the topics. The ‘Index’ allows navigation for the reader who has specific interests to investigate through the fabric of the report. The ‘Text’ is structured to 4 levels beginning with the primary, headline driven, main body content followed by relevant Wikipedia extracts, indented in purple, for those choosing to read further into a particular topic through to hyperlinked Wikipedia - Full Article text within the book and in turn out to the website itself. For the reader that wants to stay with the big picture, main body content, there is a “Skip” link to take you past each of the extracts, on to the next headline title and main body content. Book Mind and Cosmos

Download or read book Mind and Cosmos written by Thomas Nagel and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2012-11-22 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern materialist approach to life has conspicuously failed to explain such central mind-related features of our world as consciousness, intentionality, meaning, and value. This failure to account for something so integral to nature as mind, argues philosopher Thomas Nagel, is a major problem, threatening to unravel the entire naturalistic world picture, extending to biology, evolutionary theory, and cosmology. Since minds are features of biological systems that have developed through evolution, the standard materialist version of evolutionary biology is fundamentally incomplete. And the cosmological history that led to the origin of life and the coming into existence of the conditions for evolution cannot be a merely materialist history, either. An adequate conception of nature would have to explain the appearance in the universe of materially irreducible conscious minds, as such. Nagel's skepticism is not based on religious belief or on a belief in any definite alternative. In Mind and Cosmos, he does suggest that if the materialist account is wrong, then principles of a different kind may also be at work in the history of nature, principles of the growth of order that are in their logical form teleological rather than mechanistic. In spite of the great achievements of the physical sciences, reductive materialism is a world view ripe for displacement. Nagel shows that to recognize its limits is the first step in looking for alternatives, or at least in being open to their possibility.

Book A Mirror Image of The Universe

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story begins when eternity gave birth to time. The night was far-flung and astronomically wonderful when these giant bodies that we call stars were born. The stars are in galaxies of 100 billion solar masses that make up the Milky Way, which is just one galaxy among many. Chapman asserts that the universe, in its entirety, is a single organism with a complex structure comprised of countless trillions of organisms of lesser size. By asking you to really think about all he presents within the book, Chapman appeals to your introspective side, and he shows you how to understand the intricate details in all the twists and turns of the truth, which is obscured in this vast universe. If you are ready to look at our universe in a new and innovative way, The Countless Trillions of Universes within Universes can show you how!

Book Eternity and Eternal Life

    Book Details:
  • Author : Tibor Horvath
  • Publisher : Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press
  • Release : 2006-01-01
  • ISBN : 0889207682
  • Pages : 185 pages

Download or read book Eternity and Eternal Life written by Tibor Horvath and published by Wilfrid Laurier Univ. Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Newtonian concept of time has been changed by Einsteinian insight. Yet the Einsteinian world view might make it difficult to appreciate traditional concepts of eschatology, like heaven and hell, death and immortality, life after death and resurrection, last day and final judgments, because these expressions presuppose a pre-Einsteinian view of the universe. Since theology cannot remain unaffected by the new research in concepts of time, Eternity and Eternal Life tries to express the eschatological faith of the Church by using the time language of our age. To achieve this it provides an overview on the research in the nature of time done in geology, cosmology, physics, biology, psychology, sociology, history and philosophy and proposes a notion of time for “timely” Christology and for “timely” eschatology. By using the singularity event as literary form, Horvath scrutinizes how Christ’s time can lead to the times of all existing realities, through death to “eternity.” This is a pioneering work, one that needs to be tested in the community of interested readers. It is a communal search for an understanding of life, death and eternal life, not only in the light of abstract ideas and cultural linguistic doctrines in the world of religions, but also in the light of science and especially of a person as the horizon of understanding for both time and eternity. Christ as the eschatological union of time and eternity becomes the work’s unifying focus and its paradigm, which solves recognized problems and opens our minds to new ones.

Book Love Your Guts Out

Download or read book Love Your Guts Out written by Rick Shrout and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2019-09-13 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can you imagine what it feels like to watch your spouse die? Have you ever wondered how you would handle the loss of your husband, wife, or child? Love Your Guts Out chronicles the experiences of the author as he watched his wife (Toni) die from breast cancer. Inspired by her example in life and death, the author describes how his journey of grief led him into the depths of his soul. It was a journey that brought him to a place of desperation to find meaning in life after his wife lost hers. The soul-searching questions he presents in this book brought him face to face with a reality that can only be encountered on the inside of the human soul. Before tragedy strikes, the author encourages the reader to travel this inner road where we find an unlimited resource. He writes that human beings are intrinsically designed for love and explains that the path to experiencing an abundant life requires losing your life—to “love your guts out.”

This work constitutes a substantial affirmation that Islamic philosophy is an integral part of the Western philosophical tradition.
