Download or read book Black Cat Weekly 26 written by Stephen Wasylyk and published by Wildside Press LLC. This book was released on 1901 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This issue brights quite a selection of mysteries and crime stories—8, in fact. (Though two are doing double-duty as science fiction.) Michael Bracken has selected a story by our acquiring editor Cynthia Ward for this issue—“Roadsong,” which (along with Eando Binder’s tale) is also science fiction. Barb Goffman has picked a winner by John Shepphird this issue. Plus we have classics by Stephen Wasylyk, James Holding, Dorothy B. Hughes, and Nicholas Carter. And what issue would be complete without a solve-it-yourself mystery by Hal Charles? On the science fiction side, Cynthia Ward has picked “Memorabilia,” a post holocaust story, by Holly Wade Matter, plus we have a classic fantasy by Lester del Rey (from Unknown), and a classic science fiction story by Jerry Sohl (from Infinity). Here’s the complete lineup: Mysteries / Suspense / Adventure: “Alligators Don’t Ask for Payment,” by Stephen Wasylyk [short story] “Shima Maru,” by James Holding [short story] “A Ring of Truth,” by Hal Charles [solve-it-yourself mystery] “Of Dogs & Deceit,” by John Shepphird [short story] The Bamboo Blonde, by Dorothy B. Hughes [novel] Following a Chance Clue, by Nicholas Carter [novel] “The Sign of the Scarlet Cross,” by Eando Binder [short story] “Roadsong,” by Cynthia Ward [short story] Science Fiction & Fantasy: “The Sign of the Scarlet Cross,” by Eando Binder [short story] “Roadsong,” by Cynthia Ward [short story] “Memorabilia,” by Holly Wade Matter [short story] “Death in Transit,” by Jerry Sohl [short story] “Anything,” by Lester del Rey [short story]
Download or read book This Shimmering Life written by Don C. Nix J.D. Ph.D. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2011-10-27 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are evolving rapidly. Its a good thing, because we have exhausted this current phase in the unfolding evolution of our consciousness. For a couple of millennia, we have been wholly trapped in separateness. In the last 400 years, we also have been trapped in the mesmerizing material world. It has produced a worldview with a vision of the Cosmos as a dead, empty void, mechanically revolving like clockwork, with only a few bits of life, like ourselves, in it. This worldview has left us in desolation and despair. Now things are shifting. All over the world, a new consciousness is emerging. Spawned in large part by the discoveries of quantum physics, this new awareness is moving us toward a re-ensoulment of the world. We are realizing that the Cosmos is awake and aware, and that livingness and consciousness are elements of Its primordial nature. We are realizing, incrementally, that the unfolding of the Cosmos is a single, seamless, creative event, and that we are the end product of that vast emergence. We are realizing that the story of the Cosmos, from the Big Bang to us, is our story, and that we are the Cosmos in human form. This awareness traces ancient realizations, literally thousands of years old. We are now recapturing Living Divinity, which exists all around us, and of which we are an integral part. It comes not a moment too soon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Family secrets, broken friendships, spirit possession, and natural magic. This book will haunt you until the very end and long after you finish." - Rachel Menard, award-winning author of Game of Strength and Storm & Clash of Fate and Fury "Neilson’s sophomore novel is a haunting love story for the ages, perfectly layered and exquisitely told. " —Buzzfeed From the author of Deep in Providence comes a paranormal young adult romance that follows a teen convinced that her best friend–turned-enemy is possessed by a ghost, perfect for fans of White Smoke and Twilight. Seventeen-year-old Aria Cayetano dreams of ghosts. She used to see them too, but thanks to a special tea brewed by her grandfather, Aria’s connection to the spirit world has been severed. Until a decades old rosebush suddenly dies across the street, convincing Aria that something supernatural is happening in her neighborhood. She aches to investigate it, but the rosebush sits on her ex-best friend Derek Johnson’s front lawn, and she can't question him because he hates her now. Aria doesn't know what drove them apart years ago, but she does know Derek's been acting strange for weeks, sneaking out in the dead of night to who knows where. Then, days after the rosebush dies, Derek begins speaking to her again. At least Aria thinks it’s him. Until she discovers there’s a ghost inside of Derek that will take his life if it doesn’t find what it’s searching for. As Aria and Derek race to uncover the mystery, another kind of magic takes them by surprise: love. But Aria has to decide how far she’s willing to go to save Derek, especially when helping the ghost means tapping into whatever the tea has buried inside of her. Bone-chilling and spellbinding, I’m Not Supposed to Be in the Dark is an alluring ghost story that’s about exorcising the past to find a future to believe in. "In Neilson's hands, a ghost story is never just a ghost story—teenage rebellion and friendship troubles are woven together with captivating imagery, compelling characters, and yes, ghosts. This book is a study in the lengths we will go to in order to protect those we love. A study in knowing when to let go and when to hold on—even if it means risking ourselves in the process." - Lillie Lainoff, author of One For All
