Book excerpt: The true battle is only beginning. Michael of Apollonia returns in Blood Redemer, Book 2 of the "Of Blood and Magic" series. 20 years have passed since Michael, one of the original seven vampires created in the time of the Pharaohs, waged war against the ancient vampires to end their evil and regain his humanity. Only Calandra, the most evil of the vampires, escaped into hiding. Michael went to Earth to sleep until her return. Now Calandra has returned to rebuild her legions, and the Glen discovers someone has stolen the vial of blood Michael left behind to awaken him. Somehow the Glen must withstand attacks from within and without, while seeking a means to awaken Michael, without making him an even greater danger than Calandra. Truths will be revealed, lies exposed and Redemption may be only a dream.

Book Irony in the Bible

Download or read book Irony in the Bible written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-03-13 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is generally agreed that there is significant irony in the Bible. However, to date no work has been published in biblical scholarship that on the one hand includes interpretations of both Hebrew Bible and New Testament writings under the perspective of irony, and on the other hand offers a panorama of the approaches to the different types and functions of irony in biblical texts. The following volume: (1) reevaluates scholarly definitions of irony and the use of the term in biblical research; (2) builds on existing methods of interpretation of ironic texts; (3) offers judicious analyses of methodological approaches to irony in the Bible; and (4) develops fresh insights into biblical passages.

Book excerpt: Jesus Our Redeemer examines what it means when Christians call Jesus their 'Redeemer' or 'Saviour'. It tackles such questions as: How can redemptive events in the past (Christ's life, death, and resurrection) bring about saving effects in the present? Why do human beings need redemption, both individually and collectively? What images of God are implied by the saving action of God and by human needs? Gerald O'Collins SJ draws on the scriptures, Christian hymns and texts for worship, literature, the visual arts, and other sources. He examines four major models of how redemption through Christ has been thought to work: theories of deliverance, penal substitution, sacrifice, and transforming love. He concludes by considering the outworking of salvation in the life of the Church, the situation of non-Christians, and the final consummation of human life and the created world at the end of time.

Working with the successor chapters of the Blood Angels, Dante commands that the area around the Red Scar be scouted in preparation for reconquest. The Red Wings’ sweep has led them to the foetid world of Dulcis, dangerously near to the Cicatrix Maledictum itself. Strange psychic phenomenon and a deadly xenos enemy threaten the great hope of all the Chapters of the Blood – that the flaw in Sanguinius’ geneseed has at last been tamed. But what he discovers there will shake the Chapters of the Blood to their very core.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Each of us is faced with an impossible problem. Each of us has broken some portion of God’s Law. (That’s called sin.) Unfortunately, this means we are destined to stand before God at the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of time. God’s Law is pure law. It is cold, logical, unemotional, and perfect. It is just. It is righteous. But, as such, it does not offer grace, compassion, forgiveness, or hope. Therefore, each of us will be found guilty and sentenced to the Lake of Fire. That is our eternal fate under God’s Law. God does not want to do this, but His Law forces Him to find us guilty and sentence us to suffer for all eternity. How can God avoid the demands of the Law, fulfill the letter of the Law, keep the Law intact, and still deal with us in love, grace, and compassion? God is able to use a little-known clause in His Law to offer a solution to this problem. It is a plea bargain agreement to satisfy the Law and still save us. To this end, He wrote the Bible, a legally binding contract, to offer an escape.

Book The Redeemer s Glory Unveiled

Download or read book The Redeemer s Glory Unveiled written by Samuel Stockell and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-01-06 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE REDEEMERÕS GLORY UNVEILED OR THE EXCELLENCY OF CHRIST VINDICATED IN THE ANTIQUITY OF HIS PERSON AS GOD-MAN, before the World began. Though personally differing from Mr. Stockell, {not so much in disagreement, as more from sheer incomprehension, and a sense of caution from that which our mind is not entirely able to ascertain from the Scriptures of Truth, } from his views regarding the preexistence of ChristÕs human soul, a view which Mr. Joseph Hussey, {his ÔfatherÕ in the faith, } firmly advocated before him; nevertheless, we find in this treatise much that engages the thoughts unto a heavenly contemplation of the glories of the Redeemer. This important contribution to the written Annals of Free & Sovereign Grace should not {according to our humble estimation} lay buried in the rubble of so-called ÔChurch History, Õ from whence it would never be extracted by those {Church Historians & Theology Professors} that would style themselves the guardians of our faith.
