Living in London, and with the opening of the new improved city version of Clava Books mere days away, things appear to be settling down. Other than the terrible nightmares about dragons, that is. Or the fact that she's being constantly tailed by a string of mages, shifters and faeries, all of whom are constantly demanding her attention. And that's without even bringing the temptation of Corrigan, Lord Alpha of the Brethren, into the equation. Then, when a local dryad asks her for some help, things really start to fire up. There are some long hot summer days ahead ...

Book Pray Through Prayers to Defeat Attacks Against Destiny

Download or read book Pray Through Prayers to Defeat Attacks Against Destiny written by Sidney Edi-Osagie and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-08-07 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pray-Through Prayers to Defeat Attacks Against Destiny is a combination of detailed and powerful prayers for most of lifes situations and attacks. The compilation of these prayers is based on the inspiration and leading of the Spirit of God, and these prayers have been proven and tested with positive results and life-changing testimonies. The Holy Spirit knows the immediate and future needs and challenges of man, so He is best suited to instruct and guide us in our approach to prayer (Romans 8:2628). The principle of prayer draws from the practice of communicating with God on the basis of His Word. Therefore, except it is grounded in scripture, there is no other foundation for the prayer communion to be fully potent and effective. As such, each subtitle in this book, after the initial definitions, is tied to scriptural references to further enlighten the reader on the biblical basis for the prayers in question.

Book Blood and the Covenant

    Book Details:
  • Author : Pierre Parisien
  • Publisher : Trafford Publishing
  • Release : 2010-11
  • ISBN : 1426942095
  • Pages : 415 pages

Download or read book Blood and the Covenant written by Pierre Parisien and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2010-11 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blood and the Covenant tells the story of a mindset-the conception of a personal covenant between God and man-and the insidious consequences of this mindset. Author Pierre Parisien examines the history of covenantal belief and looks critically at two of its most troubling aspects: appropriation (the Promised Land) and moral dispensation (the belief that if you are doing it for God, then it is not a sin but a virtuous act). Parisien traces the historical consequences of the contract with God, from the campaigns of Joshua in Canaan to the present manifestations of ideological Zionism. He argues that the course of history has been, in great part, a consequence of the original Covenant, and he charts the regrettable lineage of atrocities committed under the auspices of covenant fulfillment-including the conquest of Canaan to the hegemony of Rome, the rape of Northern India by the Muslim Sultans, the Crusades, European colonialism (which considered the entire planet as the Promised Land), Manifest Destiny, and ideological Zionism. Wars, crimes against humanity, and genocide have too often been the aftermath of the Covenant. Will this woeful progression ever come to an end?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An abridged and revised version of Bruce Waltke’s magisterial two-volume NICOT commentary on the book of Proverbs Since 2004, Bruce Waltke’s magisterial two-volume NICOT commentary on the book of Proverbs has been recognized as a definitive exegesis of the Hebrew text, groundbreaking in its illuminating analysis that the authors and redactors of Proverbs had organized their material into discernible clusters and groupings. Waltke and Ivan De Silva here offer an abridged and revised version of the preeminent commentary, which is more accessible to students, pastors, and Bible readers in general. In place of a technical analysis of the Hebrew text, Waltke and De Silva interpret the translated text, while also including their own theological reflections and personal anecdotes where appropriate. A topical index is added to help expositors with a book that is difficult to preach or teach verse by verse. At its heart, this shorter commentary on Proverbs preserves the exegetical depth, erudition, and poetic insight of Waltke’s original and maintains the core conviction that the ancient wisdom of Proverbs holds profound, ongoing relevance for Christian faith and life today.

Book The Origin of the Political

Download or read book The Origin of the Political written by Roberto Esposito and published by Fordham Univ Press. This book was released on 2017-04-03 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book Roberto Esposito explores the conceptual trajectories of two of the twentieth century’s most vital thinkers of the political: Hannah Arendt and Simone Weil. Taking Homer’s Iliad—that “great prism through which every gesture has the possibility of becoming public, precisely by being observed by others”— as the common origin and point of departure for our understanding of Western philosophical and political traditions, Esposito examines the foundational relation between war and the political. Drawing actively and extensively on Arendt’s and Weil’s voluminous writings, but also sparring with thinkers from Marx to Heidegger, The Origin of the Political traverses the relation between polemos and polis, between Greece, Rome, God, force, technicity, evil, and the extension of the Christian imperial tradition, while at the same time delineating the conceptual and hermeneutic ground for the development of Esposito’s notion and practice of “the impolitical.” In Esposito’s account Arendt and Weil emerge “in the inverse of the other’s thought, in the shadow of the other’s light,” to “think what the thought of the other excludes not as something that is foreign, but rather as something that appears unthinkable and, for that very reason, remains to be thought.” Moving slowly toward their conceptualizations of love and heroism, Esposito unravels the West’s illusory metaphysical dream of peace, obliging us to reevaluate ceaselessly what it means to be responsible in the wake of past and contemporary forms of war.
