Book God Has No Blind Alleys

Download or read book God Has No Blind Alleys written by Ron Millson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2014-06-09 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Has No Blind Alleys chronicles an event that took place in author Ron Millson's life when he was asked to establish a Christian camp with others. These were sincere people, and enthusiastic about the project. Upon leaving his work and being sent forth from his church to begin the work, he found that most camp enthusiasts had moved away. Soon the others would do the same, or become disinterested. He had entered into a life of faith to be able to help establish the camp. Now, he had no income to sustain his family; he could only trust the Lord from day to day. He, his wife and their two children were by themselves, with no visible support. He lost his sense of direction--except for the knowledge that he had done the right thing taking on this project. He began building a house for his family--and an unknown Christian arrived, helped him a bit and gave him a possible solution to his problem regarding the camp. Totally trusting in God for needed funds, machinery, help and encouragement, he began the daunting task of building the camp. This memoir shares the unforgettable challenge and effort faced by one man and his family as God brings them pathways of joy, pleasure and refreshment in seeing His will fulfilled in their lives.

Book A Slight Case of Murder

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume collects all of George Evans' EC horror. It features "Blind Alleys," one of the most chilling and famous EC stories (adapted for the 1972 movie Tales From the Crypt). A man who abused residents of a home for the blind winds up in an impossibly narrow corridor lined with razor blades as a ravenous dog closes in. "In Gorilla My Dreams," an innocent man's brain is transplanted into a gorilla ... who is then blamed for the death of his former self and hunted down. And in our titular tale, "A Slight Case of Murder," four pretty young women are each gruesomely murdered inside locked rooms with no way for the killer to get in or out. But one man thinks he knows who's behind it. In addition, A Slight Case of Murder and Other Stories also includes Evans's unforgettable adaptation of the Ray Bradbury story "The Small Assassin!" This book superbly showcases these classic comic book stories and enhances the reader's experience with commentary and historical and biographical detail by EC experts.

Download or read book Political Papacy written by Chester Gillis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-01-08 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pope John Paul II was famous as the most visible and politically active Pope of all time. He took his positions with great personal integrity, yet his views variously pleased and angered citizens on the right and the left. His inaugural appearance as Pope in his native Poland helped spur Solidarity and the fall of the communist bloc, yet he recently chided George W. Bush and Western world leaders for excessive capitalist policies, citing their actions as a factor in deepening world poverty. He took exception to the Liberation Theology of Central American Church leaders who viewed the philosophy as vital to the region's future well being. His positions on family, sexuality, and reproductive issues have been welcomed by many, but viewed as out of step with the reality of the times by many Church members. The book also considers Benedict XVI and his continuance of the conservative agenda set by John Paul II. This compact anthology is the first book to focus on the political legacy of Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. It brings together articles to present this legacy from a variety of viewpoints to give the reader a well-considered portrait of John Paul II and Benedict XVI--as men, as world citizens, and as religious leaders of a Church of one billion members who today comprise one sixth of all humanity. The final pages look to the future of the Papacy and Catholicism in the twenty-first century.

Book The Philosophy of Christology

Download or read book The Philosophy of Christology written by Hue Woodson and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-01-31 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given the perpetual problem of the historical Jesus, there remains an ongoing posing of the question to and a continuous seeking of the meaningfulness of Christology. From the earliest reckoning with the relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and the Christ of faith, what it means to do Christology today remains at the methodological center of the task and scope of every systematic theology. Whether giving an account of Albert Schweitzer’s bringing an end to the quest for the historical Jesus in 1906, or attending to Rudolf Bultmann’s period of no quest culminating with his demythologization project in the 1940s, how we still think of Christology as a matter of questions and concerns with meaning speaks to an unavoidable philosophizing of Christology. In this way, The Philosophy of Christology offers both a particular history of Christology in conjunction with a particular philosophy of Christology, which assesses the theological contributions by a group of Bultmannians following Bultmann in the 1950s and 1960s up to what can be reimagined by repurposing Jacques Derrida’s philosophical question into the meaning of love in 2002.
