Book Advances in Blended Learning

Download or read book Advances in Blended Learning written by Elvis Wai Chung Leung and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-11-23 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Workshop of Blended Learning (WBL 2008), as part of the 7th Inter- tional Conference on Web-Based Learning (ICWL 2008), was held in Zhejiang N- mal University, Jinhua, Zhejiang, China during August 20–22, 2008. WBL 2008 provided an international forum for the dissemination of original results in the design, implementation, and evaluation of blended learning systems and related areas. In particular, the aim of WBL 2008 was to bring together researchers from academia as well as commercial developers from industry to explore ideas, exchange and share experiences, and further build the blended learning research network. The inspirations and new ideas were expected to emerge from intensive discussions during formal sessions and social activities. The main focus of WBL 2008 was on the most critical areas of blended learning, namely, ‘e-Learning Platforms and Tools,’ ‘Design, Model and Framework of e- Learning Systems,’ ‘Practice and Experience Sharing,’ and ‘Pedagogical Issues.’ In total, the workshop selected 17 papers from authors of different countries for presen- tion and publication, a task which was not easy due to the high quality of the subm- ted papers. Using stringent selection criteria, submissions were rigorously reviewed based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation by an international Program Committee from Germany, Spain, UK, Italy, Ireland, Romania, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and Macao.

Book The MERge Model for Business Development

Download or read book The MERge Model for Business Development written by Orit Hazzan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Brief presents a new model for business development—MERge—to be implemented in practitioners’ professional development in general and in the context of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) initiatives, particularly, in industry, educational institutions and public sector organizations. The authors aim to contribute to the field of innovation and entrepreneurship by merging and consolidating different methodologies and insights borrowed from the "meta-professions" (referring to skills that can be expressed meaningfully after one has gained disciplinary and professional knowledge) of management, education, and research. Targeting three key groups—practitioners in industry, academic institutions and public sector organizations—this model proposes that all practitioners can further develop their unique expertise, as well as new skills, while acknowledging and applying the three meta-professions in their initiatives, on-going work and personal lives. The authors acknowledge that in the postmodern era, where barriers between disciplines are falling in every aspect of professional life, managerial, educational and research skills are becoming increasingly essential and interdependent. Featuring case studies that illustrate how the MERge model is implemented in practice, this volume presents practical tools for integrating these key skills in a wide variety of initiatives in business, teaching and research contexts.
