Book Bleeding Armenia Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bleeding Armenia Classic Reprint written by A. Williams and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-05 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bleeding Armenia In offering to the public this volume on Bleeding Armenia under the Curse of Islam the writer does not seek to harrow the feelings of sensitive readers by the recital of blood-curdling outrages, tortures, murders and butcherings; neither does he aim to discuss at any length the involved problems of the Eastern Question, but he does definitely seek to awaken interest in the history and fate of what may truly be called the Martyr Nation of the World. It is not the isolated fact that Armenia is now undergoing a most terrible persecution, that fifty thousand or sixty thousand helpless men, women and children have already suffered death in every form which the most depraved nature, the most cruel instincts, the most bitter and fanatical hatred could devise, that so deeply arouses us; but the fact that for more than a thousand years this has been the bitter and bloody story of her wrongs - this is what staggers us. That the reader may have some clearer conceptions of the present terrible situation in Armenia and of the causes which make her general condition one most deplorable to contemplate, its early history, civilization and conversion to Christianity is briefly sketched, and attention is called to the fact that its very geographical position has for many centuries made it the highway for the contending armies of the East and West. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Martyred Armenia After passing this time at Diarbekir I fled, both to escape from captivity and from fear induced by what had befallen me from some of the fanatical Turks. After great sufferings, during which I was often exposed to death and slaughter, I reached Basra, and conceived the idea of publishing this book, as a service to the cause of truth and of a people oppressed by the Turks, and also, as I have stated at the close, to defend the faith of Islam against the charge of fanaticism which will be brought against it by Europeans. May God guide us in the right way. I have written this preface at Bombay, on the let of September, 1916. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Armenia: Its Present Crisis and Past History While in Cairo last April, during my trip around the world, I received a letter from the editor of one of our American daily papers, requesting me to go into Armenia, and write from the ground, for his journal, an account of the condition of affairs that existed among this persecuted people, as contradictory reports had been published in America. This little work, that I now offer to the public, is the result of my observations and experiences during a two months' stay in the Ottoman Empire. I am indebted to a number of persons for many of the facts contained in this volume; but as, in every case, information was given me with the distinct understanding that the names of my informants should not be used, I am prevented from giving due credit to these heroic men and women, whose noble work for the suffering Armenians would be greatly hindered if word reached the Turkish officials that they were expressing through the American press their knowledge of the state of affairs in Armenia. In the preparation of the historical portion of the book, I was fortunate in having the aid of an Armenian professor of Armenian history in Constantinople. Book excerpt: Bleeding Armenia: Its History And Horrors Under The Curse Of Islam Containing Also The Views Of Chon. Wm. E. Gladstone On The Turkish Atrocities The Marquis Of Salisbury On England's Attitude And Edward A. Freeman, The Historian On The Eastern Question This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

Book The Armenians in America Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Armenians in America Classic Reprint written by M. Vartan Malcom and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-08 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Armenians in America It was the lack of a handy book on the subject of the Armenians in America which first induced me to undertake the preparation of this volume. My original intention contemplated a larger edition, containing more extended historical and statistical records. But the sudden cessation of the war and the consequent rise of great national and economic questions, particularly those touching the Armenian people, have made it advisable not to wait any longer. The primary object of this book, as indicated by its title, is to present a sketch of the history, life and activities of the Armenians in the United States. Circumstances, however, have incidentally added a greater importance to it. Those who are competent to judge and speak of the Armenians have described them as "The Anglo-Saxons of the East." They are unanimous in their belief that these people are not only one of the superior races in Southeastern Europe and Asia Minor, but by far the most fit and capable of self-government.
