Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOW THE HALLMARK MOVIES & MYSTERIES ORIGINAL TIME FOR ME TO COME HOME FOR CHRISTMAS! The fireplace is lit, the snow is falling, and sleigh bells echo in the distance—it’s Christmas, and it’s time to come home in this charming holiday novel based on Dorothy Shackleford and Blake Shelton’s hit song. Thirty-five-year-old Heath Sawyer has finally made it to the big-time as a country music star. After a year full of the kind of success he could only dream of, it’s December 23, and he’s headlining a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden. It’s only as the lights on the stage go down and the Christmas lights outside come on that Heath realizes there’s just one place he wants to be for the holidays: back home in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. But journeying anywhere on Christmas Eve is never easy, and with flight delays, inclement weather, and the unexpected company of a feisty young woman who’s about to become his traveling companion, Heath will need a Christmas miracle to make his way home in time to open presents. Filled with touching anecdotes inspired by the real holiday memories of Blake Shelton and Dorothy Shackelford, Time for Me to Come Home is a sweet and funny story that celebrates the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning of finding your way back home. “It’s funny how going back can get you back to where you belong. It’s the difference between just a melody and my favorite Christmas song.”

Book At Home with Grief

Download or read book At Home with Grief written by Blake Paxton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-01-19 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What would you say to a deceased loved one if they could come back for one day? What if you can’t just ‘move on’ from grief? At Home with Grief: Continued Bonds with the Deceased chronicles Blake Paxton’s autoethnographic study of his continued relationship with his deceased mother. In the 90s, Silverman, Klass, and Nickman argued that after the death of a loved one, the bond does not have to be broken and the bereaved can find many ways to connect with memories of the dead. Building on their work, many other bereavement scholars have discussed the importance of not treating these relationships as pathological and have suggested that more research is needed in this area of grief studies. However, very few studies have addressed the communal and everyday subjective experiences of continuing bonds with the deceased, as well as how our relationship with our grief changes in the long term. In this book, Blake Paxton shows how a community in southern Illinois continues a relationship with one deceased individual more than ten years after her death. Through this gripping autoethnographic account of his mother’s struggles with a rare cancer, her death, and his struggles with sexuality, he poses possibilities of what might happen when cultural prescriptions for grief are challenged, and how continuing bonds with the dead may help us continue or restore broken bonds with the living.

Book The Brotherhood of Silence

Download or read book The Brotherhood of Silence written by Margaret Holland and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-08-26 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Brotherhood of Silence gives voice to the recollections of a woman who suffers debilitating injuries in an accident and then faces working through how to live with a disability and how to pursue doggedly the resolution of a medical malpractice lawsuit that took nine years to settle. Margaret Holland, assisted by Delana Reese, co-author, turns her personal experience, captured in the pages of a surprisingly therapeutic journal, into a testimony to the resilience of the human spirit and to the grace of God who answers prayers for help in troubled times. Preserving the form of the author's original journal with dated entries, The Brotherhood of Silence does not avoid the depths of pain and the shadows of despondency. In turn, though, it finds cause for celebrating over the triumph wrought by the author's human spirit guided and empowered by the grace of God. As Margaret Holland notes, "I believe everything happens for a reason. And if we look hard enough, we can always find the good that comes from it."

Book William Blake and the Moderns

Download or read book William Blake and the Moderns written by Robert J. Bertholf and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1983-06-30 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Bertholf and Annette Levitt have assembled thirteen essays that establish Blake as a "central voice molding modern literature and thought." The essays in this volume examine Blake's influence on modern poetry, the modern novel, and modern thought from various critical approaches. This collection maps out the lines of direct literary influences and indirect intellectual affinities that make up the tradition of enacted form. Through the use of various aspects of Blake's form and ideas, this book reasserts the idea of continuity, the drive for wholeness, and the arrival of new poetic forms. Blake is considered one of the major and most modern of Romantics. This collection positions him as a precursor of the modern, using his vision and poetry as a base for discussing a central issue in literary theory today—influence and the literary tradition—just how is the legacy of a literary artist passed on, and how is it resurrected in the works of subsequent generations.
