Book excerpt: John Nat not your typical young, angry American neo-Nazi. A hater, yes, turned criminal, yes, but his complexity runs deeper. He's a nihilist with pretensions. He commits abominations, and leaves the reader wondering. Listen to John Nat ramble: "Hazy and cloudy, or maybe shadowy and dark, the blackness of black. Do you see it, the basic premises of good and evil. What is the universe composed of except putrid pieces of rotting crud thrown together by the empty ones who seek only suppression of what could be a beautiful cosmos? I see all these mothers, the walking bones; I can see them because I am the Savior of Saviors and will unite my spirit with the power of the sword." ... " Nazis, I love these people, all of them, sweet and they understand the true realities of life and not the rest of the bullshit. Most things are garbage; I also know that the only way to deal with garbage is to eliminate it; get a flamethrower and burn it all away, the garbage and the floor beneath the garbage."

Book Blackness in Israel

Download or read book Blackness in Israel written by Uri Dorchin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores contemporary inflections of blackness in Israel and foreground them in the historical geographies of Europe, the Middle East, and North America. The contributors engage with expressions and appropriations of modern forms of blackness for boundary-making, boundary-breaking, and boundary-re-making in contemporary Israel, underscoring the deep historical roots of contemporary understandings of race, blackness, and Jewishness. Allowing a new perspective on the sociology of Israel and the realm of black studies, this volume reveals a highly nuanced portrait of the phenomenon of blackness, one that is located at the nexus of global, regional, national and local dimensions. While race has been discussed as it pertains to Judaism at large, and Israeli society in particular, blackness as a conceptual tool divorced from phenotype, skin tone and even music has yet to be explored. Grounded in ethnographic research, the study demonstrates that many ethno-racial groups that constitute Israeli society intimately engage with blackness as it is repeatedly and explicitly addressed by a wide array of social actors. Enhancing our understanding of the politics of identity, rights, and victimhood embedded within the rhetoric of blackness in contemporary Israel, this book will be of interest to scholars of blackness, globalization, immigration, and diaspora.

Then I took a closer look at the body… Tess Corday soon realizes that there is not going to be anything ordinary about this case. Not the lab results on the cause of death. Not Mia Polanski, the teenage girl living at the address found in the vamp’s pocket, who may well be in thrall to a demon. And certainly not Lucian Agrado, the necromancer who is liaison to the vampire community. Agrado is supposed to be part of the solution, but Tess suspects he might be part of the problem. Under pressure from her boss, Tess is trying to go by the book on this one. But when Mia reaches out to her, she risks her career to help the girl.
