Book Blackbeard the Pirate Vs the Outer Banks Boy from Nowhere

Download or read book Blackbeard the Pirate Vs the Outer Banks Boy from Nowhere written by Gardner Martin Kelley and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This story happened between 1714 and 1718. In this story of mine, I have changed the way that Blackbeard was supposed to be killed and the story I have written just might be the way Blackbeard died. I have tried to put together a story from what I have read and what I have learned on the waterways from my adventures and experiences of living and traveling on the water. The Outer Banks are filled with the fruits of God's larder. One had only to use skill and daring moves to survive in these days on the waterways. The story starts as Blackbeard the pirate glared across the campfire. The boy hidden in the bushes that could not be seen was scared. There would be no mercy for him if he was discovered. He learned how to hide and spy on his enemies from the Indian's on the Outer Banks. The boy had just turned 14 years old; he was looking across the fire at Blackbeard and is motley crew in the background. What his eyes focused on was the prettiest thing he had ever seen. She was partly dressed in a gown of blue and trimmed with silver. Her dark eyes flashed in defiance to what the pirate was saying. Her pretty red lips snarled in scorn, "and how much ransom do you think you will get if you have your way with me, and then throw me to your crew?" The smoke from the fire baffled and the boy took this time to back away and get out of the bushes. He made himself a promise, he would free this captive for himself or his bones would lie forever in the sands along the shore. Now he would try to prove his manhood.

Book excerpt: In May of 1718, Edward Teach, also known to the Pirating world as Blackbeard, led a week long blockade of Charles Town harbour (today known as Charleston, South Carolina). His only demand was a chest of medicine. After having his demands met, he sailed north with his flotilla into Beaufort Inlet, where he scuttled the Queen Anne's Revenge, hand-picked a crew, and left the rest on a sandbar. Six months after receiving the chest from Charles Town, Edward Teach was killed off the coast of Ocracoke, North Carolina. The story doesn't end there. This was no ordinary chest, and it certainly wasn't a chest of medicine. Blackbeard could have sacked any town on the east coast and procured a chest of medicine. This was a chest that dated back to the first century, and made its way to America on a Templar ship. This was a chest that could change the world.Benjamin and Nathaniel Pennywise, along with their uncle, Ottaway Burns, discover a clue while diving off the coast of Ocracoke that takes them on an adventure spanning two continents. They must outwit a sinister group of treasure hunters who will stop at nothing to lay hold to the chest so they can use it's contents to further their agenda. Pennywise - The Hunt for Blackbeard's Treasure, is a fast-paced adventure that will leave you questioning recorded history.

Book Blackbeard s Sunken Prize

Download or read book Blackbeard s Sunken Prize written by Mark Wilde-Ramsing and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1717, the notorious pirate Blackbeard captured a French slaving vessel off the coast of Martinique and made it his flagship, renaming it Queen Anne's Revenge. Over the next six months, the heavily armed ship and its crew captured all manner of riches from merchant ships sailing the Caribbean to the Carolinas. But in June 1718, with British authorities closing in, Blackbeard reportedly ran Queen Anne's Revenge aground just off the coast of what is now North Carolina's Fort Macon State Park. What went down with the ship remained hidden for centuries, as the legend of Blackbeard continued to swell in the public's imagination. When divers finally discovered the wreck in 1996, it was immediately heralded as a major find in both maritime archaeology and the history of piracy in the Atlantic. Now the story of Queen Anne's Revenge and its fearsome captain is revealed in full detail. Having played vital roles in the shipwreck's recovery and interpretation, Mark U. Wilde-Ramsing and Linda F. Carnes-McNaughton vividly reveal in words and images the ship's first use as a French privateer and slave ship, its capture and use by Blackbeard's armada, the circumstances of its sinking, and all that can be known about life as an eighteenth-century pirate based on a wealth of artifacts now raised from the ocean floor.

Book The Secret

Download or read book The Secret written by Byron Preiss and published by ibooks. This book was released on 2016-10-05 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tale begins over three-hundred years ago, when the Fair People—the goblins, fairies, dragons, and other fabled and fantastic creatures of a dozen lands—fled the Old World for the New, seeking haven from the ways of Man. With them came their precious jewels: diamonds, rubies, emeralds, pearls... But then the Fair People vanished, taking with them their twelve fabulous treasures. And they remained hidden until now... Across North America, these twelve treasures, over ten-thousand dollars in precious jewels, are buried. The key to finding each can be found within the twelve full color paintings and verses of The Secret. Yet The Secret is much more than that. At long last, you can learn not only the whereabouts of the Fair People's treasure, but also the modern forms and hiding places of their descendants: the Toll Trolls, Maitre D'eamons, Elf Alphas, Tupperwerewolves, Freudian Sylphs, Culture Vultures, West Ghosts and other delightful creatures in the world around us. The Secret is a field guide to them all. Many "armchair treasure hunt" books have been published over the years, most notably Masquerade (1979) by British artist Kit Williams. Masquerade promised a jewel-encrusted golden hare to the first person to unravel the riddle that Williams cleverly hid in his art. In 1982, while everyone in Britain was still madly digging up hedgerows and pastures in search of the golden hare, The Secret: A Treasure Hunt was published in America. The previous year, author and publisher Byron Preiss had traveled to 12 locations in the continental U.S. (and possibly Canada) to secretly bury a dozen ceramic casques. Each casque contained a small key that could be redeemed for one of 12 jewels Preiss kept in a safe deposit box in New York. The key to finding the casques was to match one of 12 paintings to one of 12 poetic verses, solve the resulting riddle, and start digging. Since 1982, only two of the 12 casques have been recovered. The first was located in Grant Park, Chicago, in 1984 by a group of students. The second was unearthed in 2004 in Cleveland by two members of the Quest4Treasure forum. Preiss was killed in an auto accident in the summer of 2005, but the hunt for his casques continues.
