Book Biopsy Pathology of the Oral Tissues

Download or read book Biopsy Pathology of the Oral Tissues written by E. Odell and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-09-04 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This highly illustrated book is written for those general pathologists who usually see relatively small amounts of oral material and who thus lack the expertise to give authoritative diagnoses. Wherever possible histologically or clinically similar lesions are discussed together in order to facilitate the book's use as both a bench manual and a reference work. Normal appearances of the oral mucosa and tooth development, lesions of mucosa and bone, common conditions exclusive to oral tissues and those systemic conditions or lesions which, in an oral context, differ in appearance or behaviour to classic textbook examples are all discussed to help in differential diagnosis. Descriptions of each lesion include clinically relevant information, which will alert readers to the possibility of misdiagnoses and the need for further clinical information before a report is submitted. Wherever appropriate, references are sourced from medical rather than oral pathology or dental journals in order to facilitate further reading in non-specialist centres. In addition, the new WHO classification of odontogenic cysts and tumours is cited, definitions of many recently described disease entities offered and recent findings in oral disease pathogenesis summarized.

Book General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist

Download or read book General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist written by Leslie DeLong and published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. This book was released on 2013-02-25 with total page 701 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist, 2nd Edition, is a comprehensive study of the general concepts of pathophysiology as they relate to systemic and oral conditions. The only dental hygiene book on the market to address both oral and general pathology, General and Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist is the ideal solution for programs that cover oral and general pathology in one course, and provides an easily accessible review of general pathology for programs that cover oral pathology separately. The Oral Pathology section is uniquely organized by distinct recognizable characteristics of lesions (for example, “white” lesions or “radiolucent” lesions), a uniquely practical and highly effective way of presenting this information since dental hygienists have to evaluate pathology based on what they see. This allows the student to easily identify what he or she might be looking at and to differentiate between lesions with similar appearances.
