Download or read book Biography of Late Betty White Ludden written by Maltida Robert and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2022-01-06 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Betty White's biography. She was a woman of integrity and tenacity who made significant contributions to the entertainment business. She maintained an incorrigible presence on television shows and talk shows, frequently portraying herself as a seemingly modest elderly woman who abruptly turns into a coarse joke. She talked about her love of animals before commenting that "vodka's kind of a specialty." This book provides an overview of the legendary television star's early life and his accomplishments. Betty is only known to a new generation of fans through her appearances on Saturday Night Live, Boston Legal, Hot in Cleveland, and her scene-stealing performances in films such as Lake Placid and The Proposal. Betty White has covered everything from the very beginning of television to the phenomenon now known as social media throughout her career. Inside this book, you'll find all of the information you could need to baffle some of Betty's younger followers who believe they've just found her. Among the many notable achievements of this television pioneer are a slew of laughter and fond memories gleaned from her hundreds of hours of television appearances. You will love spending time with the last of America's genuinely golden girls, whether it is Sue Ann Nivens's advice on how to get a husband or one of Rose Nylund's St. Olaf stories.

Download or read book Letterman written by Jason Zinoman and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2017-04-11 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New York Times comedy critic Jason Zinoman delivers the definitive story of the life and artistic legacy of David Letterman, the greatest television talk show host of all time and the signature comedic voice of a generation. In a career spanning more than thirty years, David Letterman redefined the modern talk show with an ironic comic style that transcended traditional television. While he remains one of the most famous stars in America, he is a remote, even reclusive, figure whose career is widely misunderstood. In Letterman, Jason Zinoman, the first comedy critic in the history of the New York Times, mixes groundbreaking reporting with unprecedented access and probing critical analysis to explain the unique entertainer’s titanic legacy. Moving from his early days in Indiana to his retirement, Zinoman goes behind the scenes of Letterman’s television career to illuminate the origins of his revolutionary comedy, its overlooked influences, and how his work intersects with and reveals his famously eccentric personality. Zinoman argues that Letterman had three great artistic periods, each distinct and part of his evolution. As he examines key broadcasting moments—"Stupid Pet Tricks" and other captivating segments that defined Late Night with David Letterman—he illuminates Letterman’s relationship to his writers, and in particular, the show’s co-creator, Merrill Markoe, with whom Letterman shared a long professional and personal connection. To understand popular culture today, it’s necessary to understand David Letterman. With this revealing biography, Zinoman offers a perceptive analysis of the man and the artist whose ironic voice and caustic meta-humor was critical to an entire generation of comedians and viewers—and whose singular style ushered in new tropes that have become clichés in comedy today.
