Surah Yusuf (Prophet Yusuf ) is the 12th sura (chapter) of the Quran. It is said to have been revealed in a single sitting, being unique in this respect. The text narrates the story of Yusuf (the biblical Joseph). While other surahs tend to jump between topics, this sura is special in sticking to its central theme throughout, telling a coherent story in chronological order. There is no confirmed time when surat Yusuf was revealed, but it is estimated to be either in the 10th or 11th year of dawah. In other words, it is known to have been revealed 2 or 3 years before the hijrah (Migration) from Makkah to Madina which is close to the end of the Makkan era and Makkan journey. This Sura was revealed after a year the scholars of seerah call 'am al huzun' (the year of Sorrow or Despair). This year was a sad and depressing time for Prophet Mohammad SAW.

Prophet Muhammad SAW was born in Makkah in the year 570. Since his father died before his birth and his mother died shortly thereafter, he was raised by his uncle who was from the respected tribe of Quraysh. He was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained so till his death. His people, before his mission as a prophet, were ignorant of science and most of them were illiterate. As he grew up, he became known to be truthful, honest, trustworthy, generous, and sincere. He was so trustworthy that they called him the Trustworthy. Muhammad SAW was very religious, and he had long detested the decadence and idolatry of his society. At the age of forty, Prophet Muhammad SAW received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. The revelations continued for twenty-three years, and they are collectively known as The Holy Quran. As soon as he began to recite the Quran and to preach the truth which Allah SWT (God) had revealed to him, he and his small group of followers suffered persecution from unbelievers. The persecution grew so fierce that in the year 622, God gave them the command to emigrate. This emigration from Makkah to the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the north, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar. After several years, Prophet Muhammad SAW and his followers were able to return to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies. Before Prophet Muhammad SAW died, at the age of sixty-three, the greater part of the Arabian Peninsula had become Muslim, and within a century of his death, Islam had spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China.

Dilahirkan di Kota Suci Makkah, Semenanjung Arab, baginda adalah anak yatim piatu sejak kecil lagi dimana baginda dijaga oleh datuknya, Abdul Muttalib bin Hasyim dan seterusnya bapa saudara baginda, Abu Talib bin Abdul Muttalib. Baginda juga pernah bekerja sebagai pengembala kambing dan saudagar serta perkahwinan pertamanya adalah ketika berusia 25 tahun dimana baginda telah bernikah dengan Khadijah binti Khuwailid (40 tahun). Ketika Muhammad berumur 40 tahun, baginda telah menerima wahyu yang pertama daripada Tuhan melalui malaikat Jibril ketika sedang berada di Gua Hira. Tiga tahun setelah kejadian itu, baginda mula berdakwah secara terbuka kepada penduduk Makkah dengan mengatakan "Tuhan itu Esa" dan hendaklah menyerahkan diri sepenuhnya kepada Allah (secara harfiahnya membawa maksud Islam) dan ia adalah satu cara hidup (ad-Din) yang diterima Allah SWT sahaja. Nabi Muhammad SAW menerima beberapa orang pengikut pada awalnya yang terdiri daripada pelbagai golongan. Ajaran yang dibawa oleh baginda mendapat tentangan yang hebat dalam kalangan penduduk Makkah malahan mereka dilayan dengan teruk dan zalim. Oleh itu, Nabi Muhammad SAW telah menghantar beberapa orang pengikutnya ke Habsyah pada 614 M sebelum baginda dan pengikutnya lain di Makkah berhijrah ke Madinah (dahulu dikenali sebagai Yathrib) pada tahun 622 M. Peristiwa penghijrahan Muhammad itu menandakan permulaan bagi kalendar Islam atau takwim Hijrah. Di Madinah, Nabi Muhammad SAW telah menyatukan semua suku kaum dibawah Piagam Madinah.

Prophet Muhammad SAW was born in Makkah in the year 570. Since his father died before his birth and his mother died shortly thereafter, he was raised by his uncle who was from the respected tribe of Quraysh. He was raised illiterate, unable to read or write, and remained so till his death. His people, before his mission as a prophet, were ignorant of science and most of them were illiterate. As he grew up, he became known to be truthful, honest, trustworthy, generous, and sincere. He was so trustworthy that they called him the Trustworthy. Muhammad SAW was very religious, and he had long detested the decadence and idolatry of his society. At the age of forty, Prophet Muhammad SAW received his first revelation from God through the Angel Gabriel. The revelations continued for twenty-three years, and they are collectively known as The Holy Quran. As soon as he began to recite the Quran and to preach the truth which Allah SWT (God) had revealed to him, he and his small group of followers suffered persecution from unbelievers. The persecution grew so fierce that in the year 622, God gave them the command to emigrate. This emigration from Makkah to the city of Madinah, some 260 miles to the north, marks the beginning of the Muslim calendar. After several years, Prophet Muhammad SAW and his followers were able to return to Makkah, where they forgave their enemies. Before Prophet Muhammad SAW died, at the age of sixty-three, the greater part of the Arabian Peninsula had become Muslim, and within a century of his death, Islam had spread to Spain in the West and as far East as China. Among the reasons for the rapid and peaceful spread of Islam was the truth and clarity of its doctrine. Islam calls for faith in only one God (Tawhid/Pure Monotheism).

Siti Aminah adalah pemimpin para ibu, karena ia ibu Nabi Muhammad SAW yang dipilih Allah SWT sebagai Rasul pembawa risalah untuk umat manusia hingga akhir zaman. Baginda Muhammadlah penyeru kebenaran dan keadilan serta kebaikan berupa agama Islam. "Dan barangsiapa memilih agama selain Islam, maka tiadalah diterima (agama itu) darinya. Dan di akhirat termasuk orang-orang yang rugi." (QS. Ali Imran: 85) Tak banyak sejarawan yang mengupas masa hidupnya, namun nama ini senantiasa semerbak bersama hembusan angin keindahan. Perjalanannya yang indah nan suci telah mengukir perubahan besar perputaran zaman. Siapa yang tak kenal Bani Hasyim; karena dari kabilah inilah Nabi Muhammad SAW dilahirkan. Siapa pula yang tak kenal Bani Zuhrah; sebuah kabilah yang pernah menyimpan wanita suci dan mulia, karena dari rahimnya lahir sebuah cahaya agung yang membawa pembaharuan besar di dunia ini, Aminah binti Wahab Ibunda Rasululllah SAW Utusan Allah SWT Sang Pencipta Alam Semesta Yang Terakhir.
