Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I was born and raised in a typical small New England mill town called Baltic, Connecticut at the end of the Depression years. In 1972 at the age of 35 years, I desired a warmer climate. With just my personal belongings packed into my trusty steed, a 1970 Ford Galaxie 500, I left Connecticut and traveled 3,600 miles to sunny Southern California. In Long Beach, I did find the climate I was searching for. So with my experience and my California nurse's license, I was hired at the Long Beach Community Hospital, Intensive Coronary Care Unit, working there for seven years. While working full time, I attended Long Beach City College graduating in 1977. I moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1979 to present date to retirement, but not tired. To me retirement means, I can do anything I darn well please! This book is about my eye opener to life. It is a journey that took me from Severe Clinical Depression into intense journaling, which gave to me so much insight and awareness of the presence of God. As a result of my journaling, I applied it to many issues in medicine, politics, spiritual and controversial situations. I was pleased to see almost all my many articles published in the local news media. My collection in this book includes; the beginning with the 23rd Psalm, the reader's views published, and volunteerism with reporting and publishing about the agencies and organization. I included a few of the controversial incidences that I researched to debate and make my comments about. God did promise that He came to give us life and that we may have it more abundantly.

Download or read book The House of Tudor written by Alison Plowden and published by The History Press. This book was released on 2011-07-31 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The House of Tudor changed the history of Britain forever. The Tudor monarchs have been immortalised in novels and films for generations. However, the true history of this incredible dynasty is often romanticised and fact is overlooked. Alison Plowden's accessible and beautifully written history traces the family's turbulent reign of power from Henry VII, the first Tudor monarch, who fathered the great Henry VIII. Henry VIII went onto revolutionise England's armed forces and implement controversial reforms in England. Yet, he is perhaps most remembered for his tumultuous love life and the fates of his six wives, including Anne of Boleyn, who sparked an international crisis. He fathered four known offspring, including Mary I and Gloriana - Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen, who reigned for 44 years in what is known as England's Golden Age. This book not only re-tells the familiar stories of these famous monarchs, revealing the truth behind the scandals; but it also recounts the history of the less well-known Tudor monarchs: Edward VI, Lady Jane Grey (the uncrowned Queen of England), and those who came directly before and after them - Edward IV and James I. If you read on history of the Tudors, make it this one - you are sure to be enthralled and surprised by how the facts are often more incredible than the fiction surrounding them.

Download or read book William Stanley as Shakespeare written by John M. Rollett and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2015-04-07 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting striking new evidence, this book shows that "William Shakespeare" was the pen name of William Stanley, son of the Earl of Derby. Born in 1561, he was educated at Oxford, travelled for three years abroad, and studied law in London, mixing with poets and playwrights. In 1592 Spenser recorded that Stanley had written several plays. In 1594 he unexpectedly inherited the earldom--hence the pen name. He became a Knight of the Garter in 1601, eligible to help bear the canopy over King James at his coronation, likely prompting Sonnet 125's "Wer't ought to me I bore the canopy?"--he is the only authorship candidate ever in a position to "bear the canopy" (which was only ever borne over royalty). Love's Labour's Lost parodies an obscure poem by Stanley's tutor, which few others would have read. Hamlet's situation closely mirrors Stanley's in 1602. His name is concealed in the list of actors' names in the First Folio. His writing habits match Shakespeare's as deduced from the early printed plays. He was a patron of players who performed several times at court, and financed the troupe known as Paul's Boys. No other member of the upper class was so thoroughly immersed in the theatrical world.
