Book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management 8

Download or read book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management 8 written by D. William Tedder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-05-31 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Several long-term trends in technology evolution have become apparent since these symposia began in 1989. Earlier presenters more frequently discussed treatment methods involving harsh and extensive human intervention. As the symposia have continued, the number of presentations describing extremely harsh and expensive treatment technologies have gradually been supplanted by more subtle and gentler methods. Such methods include subsurface-engineered barriers, phytoremediation, and bioremediation. Nineteen manuscripts were selected for inclusion in this volume, based upon peer review, scientific merit, the editors' perceptions of lasting value or innovative features, and the general applicability of either the technology itself or the scientific methods and scholarly details provided by the authors. General topics include: soil treatment, groundwater treatment, and radioactive waste treatment.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides readers with the most current knowledge on hazardous waste management practices. It addresses the rapidly changing advances in waste stream characterization and the discovery of new chemicals – which have led to new hazardous wastes, technological innovation, stringent environmental regulations, changes in transport and dispersion modelling of hazardous pollutants, and new waste management techniques. Hazardous Waste Management: Advances in Chemical and Industrial Waste Treatment and Technologies is an invaluable reference for waste management and treatment professionals, chemical engineers and technicians, medical professionals, and environmental regulators, as well as students taking courses on hazardous waste management, environmental engineering, and environmental science.

Book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management III

Download or read book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management III written by Daniel William Tedder and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a symposium held in Atlanta, Georgia in October 1991, this volume is both an introduction to hazardous waste treatment for the novice and a reference for the technical expert. Specialists in emerging technologies for treating and managing gaseous, liquid, and solid wastes contribute 22 chapters arranged within five sections: physical and chemical wastewater treatment, biological treatment, soil remediation and treatment, treatment of volatile compounds, and selected mixed-waste treatment applications. Download or read book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management written by Daniel William Tedder and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new volume describes developing technologies for treating and managing wastewaters and solid residues, such as soils and incinerator ashes, that are contaminated. It includes chapters on such diverse topics as municipal solid wastes, water purification by radiation, the isolation of organic species and inorganic radionuclides, and solvent recycling. Several chapters cover radiolysis chemistry in dilute aqueous media, solar treatment, chemical separations, the biological and chemical treatment of soils and sludges, and solids immobilization. This volume is a useful introduction to hazardous waste treatment for the novice as well as a valuable reference for the technical expert.

Book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management IV

Download or read book Emerging Technologies in Hazardous Waste Management IV written by Daniel William Tedder and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 18 papers were selected from over 200 presented at the symposium (Atlanta, Georgia, September 1992) to reflect the most important or promising directions in hazardous waste management, and to avoid duplicating information in earlier volumes of the series. Among the remedial technologies described for soils and sediments are electrokinetic and the mobilization of specific ions. Other methods include the crystallization of mechanical pulp mill effluents and the removal of gasoline vapors from air streams by biofiltration. Radioactive and mixed waste are considered in studies of the Hanford waste site in Washington and reports of laboratory-scale studies. Annotation copyright by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is generally acknowledged today that the most effective strategy for toxic and hazardous waste management is: reduction, reuse and recycle. However, to date most of the activity has been in treatment technologies. This book focuses on recent technological issues commercially available or in various stages of implementation. Developments in the U.S. and Europe in the area of waste management policy and regulation are also examined since management and remediation have usually been conducted in response to regulatory requirements. This book serves as a state of the art resource on technologies and methodologies for the environmental protection manager involved in decisions concerning the management of toxic and hazardous waste.
