Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bible Riddles, Poems and Stories: Volume 2 aims to share the Word in three enjoyable ways rolled into one neat package. It covers a wide variety of topics in a simple, unique style that will maintain the interest of everyone. You will be taken on an exciting adventure that ripples through Bible characters, places, events, joys, and sorrows, from Genesis to Revelation. You will be entertained and challenged as old, familiar stories come alive and seem just as current as todays headlines. It is not the authors objective to write a tell-all book. Many details have been omitted, particularly in the stories, for the sake of brevity and interest and so that you, the reader, will search the Bible for yourself. If you are knowledgeable about the scriptures, you will find the riddles a lot of fun. Otherwise, you will learn. There are twenty-six sets of them in this volume and another twenty-six planned for Bible Riddles, Poems and Stories: Volume 2 to be released soon. These are ideal for youth groups, Sabbath school, Sunday school, or even just to spend quality time with your Bible.

This book was released on 2017-08-21 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This first volume of a two-volume Handbook treats a challenging, largely neglected subject at the crossroads of several academic fields: biblical studies, reception history of the Bible, and folklore studies or folkloristics. The Handbook examines the reception of the Bible in verbal folklores of different cultures around the globe. This first volume, complete with a general Introduction, focuses on biblically-derived characters, tales, motifs, and other elements in Jewish (Mizrahi, Sephardi, Ashkenazi), Romance (French, Romanian), German, Nordic/Scandinavian, British, Irish, Slavic (East, West, South), and Islamic folkloric traditions. The volume contributes to the understanding of the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, the New Testament, and various pseudepigraphic and apocryphal scriptures, and to their interpretation and elaboration by folk commentators of different faiths. The book also illuminates the development, artistry, and “migration” of folktales; opens new areas for investigation in the reception history of the Bible; and offers insights into the popular dimensions of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim communities around the globe, especially regarding how the holy scriptures have informed those communities’ popular imaginations.

Book excerpt: After the accident, I became a strict believer in the Almighty, believing the accident happened for a reason to change the sights I had for a useful life instead of being an architect that I went to school for and now forgotten. I would now have to look into some new direction. I had some writing experience to look at. I was going to Bible study groups once or twice a week, reading and working on what we read about, with some writing to sum up what was taught. In this writing, I started recreational work as to poetry. Some of this work was of thought "given," religious poems that had good themes. The time and place, I don't know what it means. There, a thought given is usually written, Reasoning for life is usually explained; thought for actions is then remained. As one to another time is a fence, actions portrayed some of defense, The mind was one that was given, the thought within is retained from living. A purpose has reason for a maker to see, sometimes your action is reason to be. Other times a purpose is that not in sight, making the choice not being right. Then again, age is a factor for how you choose, more in sight to win or to lose. Reasoning is many times unexplained, but a good thought was unrefrained. A thought in practice becomes a choice made; a mistake made is one to invade. Life is like a gamble then you die. Don't rock any cradle; don't make 'em cry. Live trying to give back to life; don't let it show. Love the beast; don't let it know. Have peace "for life" killing is banned. See the other side; I hear it's grand! Death is the last step we take; I hope you make it for both of our sakes. All of his instructions were given; your part is in the living. Amen. Earth is our onetime school; to learn God's love, obey his rule. All for our gain to love and learn, graduate in death prepared for our turn! Exclaimed with the happiness to see and rejoice, spirit lives have a voice. Heard for eternity, his promise fulfilled, that with action thought prewilled. You lived for a reason instead of gain in pleasing "yourself." The End of Book 1 Seeing The Real Nation Book 2 is further in-depth, More of a mind being prepped, For the soul to be swept Up, for God knows you cared.

Book excerpt: In the Bible, the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and the Song of Solomon are considered books of poetry. In this book, I'm like an artist demonstrating a measure of the written, creative, and recreative power of God, using words like patterns, shapes, colors, and designs of all kinds interwoven, overlapping, mixing them together into creative beauty. May you enjoy reading these inspirational and biblical messages in poetic form, as much as I've enjoyed writing them. -Nathan Ware

Download or read book Saint Aldhelm s Riddles written by Saint Aldhelm and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2015-11-26 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first and one of the finest Latin poets of Anglo-Saxon England, the seventh-century bishop Saint Aldhelm can justly be called “Britain’s first man of letters.” Among his many influential poetic texts were the hundred riddles that made up his Aenigmata. In Saint Aldhelm’s Riddles, A.M. Juster offers the first verse translation of this text in almost a century, capturing the wit, warmth, and wonder of the first English riddle collection. One of today’s finest formalist poets, A.M. Juster brings the same exquisite care to this volume as to his translations of Horace (“The best edition available of the Satires in English” –Choice), Tibullus (“An excellent new translation” –The Guardian), and Petrarch. Juster’s translation is complemented by a newly edited version of the Latin text and by the first scholarly commentary on the Aenigmata, the result of exhaustive interdisciplinary research into the text’s historical, literary, and philological context. Saint Aldhelm’s Riddles will be essential for scholars and a treasure for lovers of Tolkien, Beowulf, and Harry Potter.
