Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhakti-Yoga is a real, honest search for the Lord that begins, continues, and ends with love. We are free forever because of one crazy moment of crazy love for God. This love can't be reduced to anything on earth, because this love won't come as long as people want things on earth. Bhakti is better than both karma and yoga because karma and yoga are supposed to get you somewhere, but Bhakti is its own goal, its own means, and its own end. Swami Vivekananda talked about Bhakti-Yoga like a spiritual poet, describing it as a symphony of the soul and a dance of devotion in which the seeker gives in to their overwhelming love for the Divine. He stressed that this path was not limited to any one religion. Instead, it was a universal language of the heart that gave people a direct link to the divine part of themselves and the world around them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is religion? In the pure sense of the word, religion means to reconnect to God. Yet, in today’s world it is so rarely seen as that. Religion is seen as divisive, dogmatic, sometimes even primitive. But what is the cause of this? We see that humans and their ideas are most often the cause of unnecessary conflict, unnecessary division and unnecessary tension. At the core of both Christianity and Hinduism lie God’s words, recorded in their respective scriptures. Yet so often we struggle to truly understand them. Volume 1 of the Krishna & Christ set highlights and dives deep into the thematic of who God is, the Creation of the Universe, who are we and how to come closer to (or to attain) God. By using the quotes from the Bhagavad Gita, the Bhagavatam and the Bible, this book gives you the opportunity to rediscover the timeless purity and essence of Christianity and consequently drawing a comparative analysis to the world’s oldest religion, Hinduism. The reader is invited to look deeper and ‘out of the box’ of doctrines. In the depths of everyone is the same Truth, the same Love, the same Essence.

Book Living a Bhakti Life

Download or read book Living a Bhakti Life written by A. R. Pashayan and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013 with total page 143 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Living a Bhakti Life, author A. R. Pashayan recounts experiencing a “spiritual download” in 2004 during meditation that literally changed her life. She was tormented with repetitive dreams of death, night after night, brought on in part by a death in the family, stress from work, and no alone time. She, along with a friend, tried analyzing the dreams. Nothing was clear until she took a month-long break in a place that looked like Heaven—Telluride, Colorado, where she finally left her old self behind. Her dreams made sense now. Her spiritual download paved the way for a new level of understanding life, illness, stress, and practical spirituality. She started practicing Bhakti yoga and meditation, and she finally found calm. Bhakti yoga is defined as a spiritual path described in Hindu philosophy used for fostering love, utter faith, and surrender to God. There is only one path to God: the path to grace, or Bhakti. Through yoga and quiet contemplation on top of the mountain, she soon discovered that it was possible to literally “be” unconditional love. In Living a Bhakti Life, Pashayan opens a pathway to enlightenment and God’s love through Bhakti yoga through divine power and divine love.

Book Para Bhakti or Supreme Devotion

Download or read book Para Bhakti or Supreme Devotion written by SWAMI VIVEKANANDA and published by Prabhat Prakashan. This book was released on 2021-01-01 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vivekananda was a man with a great spiritual presence and tremendous intellect who was a tireless teacher and writer. He wrote poems and hymns in Bengali, English and Sanskrit, some of which are sung daily in Vedanta centre's worldwide. He was ahead of his time in encouraging women and Westerners to not only practice Vedanta, but to be leaders. Two examples are Sara Ellen Waldo who recorded and collected Swami's talks at Thousand Island Park and Margaret Noble, later known as Sister Nvidia, who devoted her life not only to Vedanta but also to the education of Indian girls.Supreme Devotion, in which forms and symbols fall off. One who has reached that cannot belong to any sect, for all sects are in him. To what shall he belong? For all churches and temples are in him. Where is the church big enough for him? Such a man cannot bind himself down to certain limited forms. Where is the limit for unlimited love, with which he has become one? In all religions which take up this ideal of love, we find the struggle to express it. Although we understand what this love means and see that everything in this world of affections and attractions is a manifestation of that Infinite Love, the expression of which has been attempted by sages and saints of different nations, yet we find them using all the powers of language, transfiguring even the most carnal expression into the divine.

Download or read book Paths to God written by Ram Dass and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2007-12-18 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries, readers have turned to the Bhagavad Gita for inspiration and guidance as they chart their own spiritual paths. As profound and powerful as this classic text has been for generations of seekers, integrating its lessons into the ordinary patterns of our lives can ultimately seem beyond our reach. Now, in a fascinating series of reflections, anecdotes, stories, and exercises, Ram Dass gives us a unique and accessible road map for experiencing divinity in everyday life. In the engaging, conversational style that has made his teachings so popular for decades, Ram Dass traces our journey of consciousness as it is reflected in one of Hinduism’s most sacred texts. The Gita teaches a system of yogas, or “paths for coming to union with God.” In Paths to God, Ram Dass brings the heart of that system to light for a Western audience and translates the Gita’s principles into the manual for living the yoga of contemporary life. While being a guide to the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita, Paths to God is also a template for expanding our definition of ourselves and allowing us to appreciate a new level of meaning in our lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bhagavad Gita presents the timeless discourse about the awareness of the soul, held between Lord Krishna and the dejected warrior, Arjuna, just before the momentous Kurukshetra battle. Yet, as Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda explains, this war is not merely an external conflict from some ancient time, but is also the internal struggle of everyone longing to be closer to the Divine. Fortunately for us, the mere process of reading these verses is, in itself, a powerful act of personal transformation. This book is simply the Bhagavad Gita’s verses and translations without Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s commentary. This is done so that you can come to your own insights and listen to your heart as you read the sacred passages, making your own connections to the issues in your daily life. However, it does provide a complete overview of each chapter, inspired by insights given in Paramahamsa Vishwananda’s ‘Shreemad Bhagavad Gita – A Song of Love’, plus a simplified “family tree” to help those new to the Gita keep track of who is related to who, and at the end, a pronunciation guide to the Sanskrit for those who would like to chant the verses themselves. Paramahamsa Vishwananda is an enlightened spiritual Master who has the unique ability to awaken the soul's inner Light and Love, helping us all advance more quickly toward God-Realisation. His mission, known as Bhakti Marga, gives everyone access to Sri Swami Vishwananda’s timeless teachings of Divine Love and devotion to God, as well as provides opportunities to connect with others on the spiritual path. Besides local centres all over the world, his wisdom can be found in his books, CD’s, YouTube videos, social media, livestreams and online courses. Find out more by visiting bhaktimarga.org.

  • Pages : 96 pages

Download or read book Bhakti Yoga written by Swami Vivekananda and published by editionNEXT.com. This book was released on 2015-08-26 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhakti yoga is a spiritual path or spiritual practice within Hinduism focused on the cultivation of love and devotion toward God. It has been defined as a practice of devotion toward God, solely motivated by the sincere, loving desire to please God, rather than the hope of divine reward or the fear of divine punishment. It is a means toward a state of spiritual liberation or enlightenment through the "realisation", or the attainment of "oneness" with God. Bhakti yoga is often considered by Hindus to be the easiest way for ordinary people to attain such a spiritually liberated state, because although it is a form of yoga, its practice is not as rigorous as most other yogic schools, and it is possible to practice bhakti yoga without needing to become a full-time yogi. The origins of Bhakti can be seen in the upanishads, specifically the Shvetashvatara Upanishad. The Bhagavad Gita, and the Puranas are important scriptures that expound the philosophy of bhakti yoga. Hindu movements in which bhakti yoga is the main practice are called bhakti movements – the major schools of which are Vaishnavism, Shaivism, and Shaktism.

Book excerpt: At the 1893 Parliament of Religions in Chicago, Swami Vivekananda transformed Western thinking. He showed that, far from being an exotic novelty, Hinduism is an important, legitimate spiritual tradition with valuable lessons for the West. Pathways to Joy is a selection of 108 of his sacred teachings on Vedanta philosophy. In accessible and powerful prose, Vivekananda illuminates the four classical yoga paths — karma, bhakti, raja, and jnana — for the different natures of humankind. The messages focus on the oneness of existence; the divinity of the soul; the truth in all religions; and unifying with the Divine within. Invaluable and inspiring, the selections also explore karma, maya, rebirth, and other great revelations of Hinduism.
