Book Beyond Traditional Probabilistic Data Processing Techniques Interval Fuzzy etc Methods and Their Applications

Download or read book Beyond Traditional Probabilistic Data Processing Techniques Interval Fuzzy etc Methods and Their Applications written by Olga Kosheleva and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-28 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Data processing has become essential to modern civilization. The original data for this processing comes from measurements or from experts, and both sources are subject to uncertainty. Traditionally, probabilistic methods have been used to process uncertainty. However, in many practical situations, we do not know the corresponding probabilities: in measurements, we often only know the upper bound on the measurement errors; this is known as interval uncertainty. In turn, expert estimates often include imprecise (fuzzy) words from natural language such as "small"; this is known as fuzzy uncertainty. In this book, leading specialists on interval, fuzzy, probabilistic uncertainty and their combination describe state-of-the-art developments in their research areas. Accordingly, the book offers a valuable guide for researchers and practitioners interested in data processing under uncertainty, and an introduction to the latest trends and techniques in this area, suitable for graduate students.

Book Beyond E Learning

Download or read book Beyond E Learning written by Marc J. Rosenberg and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2005-12-13 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A follow-up to his best-selling E-Learning, Beyond E-Learning explains the most current thinking on how organizations learn and apply what they know to be successful, and explores the increasingly important role that technology plays, not as an end in itself but as a vital means to get there. The book also provides a clear path for helping to integrate learning—including e-learning—knowledge management, and performance support, and will help training professionals and the organizations they serve go beyond common myths and misconceptions about training and e-learning, focus training/learning activities directly on organizational know-how, and implement a framework that can (at last) be a catalyst for true organizational learning.

Book Beyond Traditional Probabilistic Methods in Economics

Download or read book Beyond Traditional Probabilistic Methods in Economics written by Vladik Kreinovich and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-24 with total page 1157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents recent research on probabilistic methods in economics, from machine learning to statistical analysis. Economics is a very important – and at the same a very difficult discipline. It is not easy to predict how an economy will evolve or to identify the measures needed to make an economy prosper. One of the main reasons for this is the high level of uncertainty: different difficult-to-predict events can influence the future economic behavior. To make good predictions and reasonable recommendations, this uncertainty has to be taken into account. In the past, most related research results were based on using traditional techniques from probability and statistics, such as p-value-based hypothesis testing. These techniques led to numerous successful applications, but in the last decades, several examples have emerged showing that these techniques often lead to unreliable and inaccurate predictions. It is therefore necessary to come up with new techniques for processing the corresponding uncertainty that go beyond the traditional probabilistic techniques. This book focuses on such techniques, their economic applications and the remaining challenges, presenting both related theoretical developments and their practical applications.

Book Beyond Training and Development

Download or read book Beyond Training and Development written by William J. Rothwell and published by AMACOM/American Management Association. This book was released on 1996-01 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is your organization achieving impressive results by enhancing its employees' performance - or is it merely engaged in the activity of training? This is the question and the challenge posed by Beyond Training and Development, a groundbreaking guide to implementing a company-wide human performance enhancement (HPE) program. In Beyond Training and Development, you'll discover an action manual for change. The book provides a comprehensive new model for HPE and describes practical strategies for its implementation. And it shows how HPE methods improve both individual and organizational productivity and competence. Rothwell's book makes the whole process easier by providing a unified approach to performance improvement based on a single, original model; explaining how to distinguish between job problems, worker problems, organizational problems, and environmental problems - and how to choose the best strategy or combination of strategies to address each type of problem; and going beyond traditional ideas of "training" or "development" that are limited in scope and too focused on scattered activities rather than results.

Book Performance Consulting

Download or read book Performance Consulting written by Dana Gaines Robinson and published by Berrett-Koehler Publishers. This book was released on 1995 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The traditional training process confuses training activity with performance improvement by focusing on employees' learning needs, rather than on their performance needs. Traditional programs focus on developing excellent learning experiences, while failing to ensure that the newly acquired skills are transferred to the job. Thus, to be effective, training professionals must become ""performance consultants, "" shifting their focus from training delivery to the performance of the company and its individual contributors. Dana & Jim Robinson describe an approach suitable for use in any organizational setting or industry and with any content area. Dozens of useful tools, illustrative exercises, and a case study that threads through the book show how the techniques described are applied in an organizational setting.

The idea was born out of repeated comments from IMD clients that there were gaps in the ?classic? literature where innovations in practice had moved ahead of the discipline at an academic level. Each chapter takes a subject that can be defined as being new or relatively new (for instance value chain marketing, marketing through collaboration with customers, and two-way brand building) and illustrates how new thinking has led to innovations in practice.
