This is because the changes to the church never included changing the patriarchal structures on which the church, like all systems, have been built. This project explores the ways that women clergy have been forced to navigate around these oppressions, the messaging they have been given, and what happens when they are inevitably restricted by their identity. As this project will show, the way forward that will be a source of true liberation for all of God’s people means deconstructing these oppressions and building a truly feminist church.
