Book excerpt: After release from a 12-year cult experience, Makena embarks on an adventure to discover what it means to live life by direct reliance on Source, exclusive of a fear-based religious belief system. Her cult experience was restrictive and stripped her and her family of freedom of choice. Eventually, the cult doctrine nearly led to sacrifice of home and property. On attempting to escape the cult entrapment in 1990, she appealed to God to give her encouragement. She received a three-fold promise from two identical scripture passages that essentially described a release from imprisonment, a time of abundance, and lifetime financial security. The Beyond Oz experience covers a span of 26 years that ultimately delivers all three promises—the last of which appeared impossible when she experienced a devastating loss at age 60. She was also inspired to “close the book,” indicating the Bible and some of the more oppressive messages. She was divinely encouraged to follow her inner guidance, her higher self, Source. She transparently narrates the ups and downs, the highs and the lows, but all with the underlying lessons she brought forward from her cult experience—to release fear, ask Source, gain knowledge, take personal responsibility and above all to love self and fellowman.

Download or read book Beyond Jacob s Ladder written by Lois K. Carscallen and published by TEACH Services, Inc.. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Jacob lay sleeping with his head on a rock pillow, he dreamed of a ladder reaching to heaven with angels ascending and descending. The dream provided Jacob with a glimpse of the redeeming work of Jesus and His desire to connect heaven and earth and save us from our sins. Beyond Jacob's Ladder: The Simplicity of Salvation by Lois Carscallen will help you realize just how simple salvation can be by examining different "ladders" throughout the Bible that help us, as Christians, to connect with heaven on our spiritual journey. Jacob's ladder will teach you to trust God's promises and start a relationship with Him. Peter's ladder highlights the gifts from God. God's ladder emphasizes the importance of the Ten Commandments. Jesus' ladder discusses the hardships God's people may endure. Paul's ladder talks about embodying the fruit of the Spirit. God's Creation ladder examines the beginning of humanity. John and Moses' ladder provide understanding about the sanctuary message. Interwoven are key quotes from Ellen White that illuminate Carscallen's points and provide a deeper understanding of what each step on the ladder means. Just as God spoke to Jacob in a dream, He speaks to us by words written in the Bible. Using the Bible as Beyond Jacob's Ladder's backbone, Carscallen will help you find security and comfort when holding on to the true Ladder that connects us to heaven--Christ. Endorsement "As I read Beyond Jacob's Ladder, I was impressed by Lois' unique ability to weave her personal life experiences with meaningful quotations and precious Bible texts into a faith-affirming tapestry so easy to understand." Sue Patzer, Women's Ministries Director and Early Childhood Education and Care Coordinator, North Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

Why does God allow suffering? And why does God seem to go silent when we're in pain? In Hope When Life Unravels, Dr. Adam Dooley, pastor and host of the daily radio broadcast A Better Way, searches for answers to our biggest questions about suffering as he shares his son Carson's story of battling leukemia. Adam speaks openly about the gut-wrenching struggle his family endured for three years of life-threatening illness and how God met them in their hours of need--even when it wasn't in the ways they wanted. And, along with his own story, Adam takes readers through the story of Job, unpacking insights about God's character, his love, and how we can stay connected to him even during seasons of pain. Both inspiring and comforting, Hope When Life Unravels invites us to draw closer to a God who is often active in our lives in times when we have trouble seeing him the most.
