Book Better Late Than Never Baby

Download or read book Better Late Than Never Baby written by Serena Kirby and published by Palmer Higgs. This book was released on 2013 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The number of Australian women having a baby later in life has tripled in the past 30 years and births to women over 40 have doubled in the past decade. Later life mothers are also the fastest growing demographic in Britain and the US and one quarter of Australian women who have a baby later, are doing so for the very first time. Serena's own Better Late Than Never Baby (a son) was born when she was 43. This books shares the story of the incredible odds he defied to get here and the unimaginable adventure that mid-life motherhood created. If you're about to become an older mother or in a position to support a new mid-life mum, this is the book for you. Thought-provoking and with splashes of humour, this invaluable resource covers a range of topics and tackles some questions that are highly relevant to later life mothers. How will my age impact on my pregnancy and my baby? Are all the medical risks relevant to me? Will I find it harder to adjust? What can I expect regarding fatigue and how can I reduce it? Does my child need a sibling? What about the MAD (Mature Age Dad)? This book is extensively researched, filled with valuable contributions from other older mothers, and brimming with practical, fresh and insightful advice. "Reading Serena's book was like having a conversation with a very good friend. I recommend it to all older women who are childbearing and to their support network. I also recommend it to health care professionals caring for such women, and their families, as it provides a view to the 'lived experience' as well as points you in the direction of evidence to support the care you provide." Dr Ravani Duggan, RM, RN, PhD. First-time mother at (nearly) 42.

Book Better Late than Never

Download or read book Better Late than Never written by Lorraine Price and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-08 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is concerned with an enigmatic set of experiences which theorists in the Object Relations tradition have characterised as regression to dependence, a return to a primitive, pre-verbal relational process presenting in some clients in psychotherapy. It highlights the effects of early infantile trauma resulting in the experience of failed dependency. Clients who present with chronic anxiety, relational failures and an inner emptiness are considered, and the opportunity for a therapeutic repair is explored with recommendations for the therapeutic stance being made. Written from an Integrative Psychotherapy perspective, it addresses the current absence of writing in the field from a relational / developmental viewpoint on concepts more usually addressed in psychoanalytic writing. The insights of Winnicott are particularly highlighted in relation to failed dependency and maternal failure. This work aims to offer a way forward to successfully work with this client group.

Book Better Late Than Never

Download or read book Better Late Than Never written by Len Goodman and published by Random House. This book was released on 2009-10-06 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Better Late Than Never is the extraordinary true story of how a man born into poverty in London's East End went on to find stardom late in life when he was chosen to be head judge on BBC1's Strictly Come Dancing. Len Goodman tells all about his new-found fame, his experiences on Strictly Come Dancing, and also on the no.1 US show Dancing with the Stars and his encounters with the likes of Heather Mills-McCartney and John Sergeant. But the real story is in his East End roots. And Len's early life couldn't be more East End. The son of a Bethnal Green costermonger he spent his formative years running the fruit and veg barrow and being bathed at night in the same water Nan used to cook the beetroot. There are echoes of Billy Elliot too. Though Len was a welder in the London Docks, he dreamt of being a professional footballer, and came close to making the grade had he not broken his foot on Hackney Marshes. The doctor recommended ballroom dancing as a light aid to his recovery. And Len, it turned out, was a natural. At first his family and work mates mocked, but soon he had made the final of a national competition and the welders descended en masse to the Albert Hall to cheer him on. With his dance partner, and then wife Cheryl, Len won the British Championships in his late twenties and ballroom dancing became his life. Funny and heart-warming, Len Goodman's autobiography has all the honest East End charm of Tommy Steele, Mike Read or Roberta Taylor.

She is a widow of many years and a number one best-selling mystery writer who is definitely content with her life just the way it is. She is not looking for love, and when she least expects the "man of her dreams" to enter her life, there he is! Does she want to ignore the attraction she feels and keep her life just the way it is? Follow her through the pages as she fights the impulse to pursue this man and what happens when she finally decides she wants him and for better or for worse. She has a wacky sense of humor, and her antics will keep you turning the pages just to see what she is going to do next. She brings humor to the baby boomer problems new couples must face. How to disguise her CPAP so she doesn't look like Darth Vader's mother? How to put romance in an evening that must end with her wearing a chin strap to prevent her from snoring? She handles all these situations with humor and honesty. Marco, a sixty-plus successful orthopedic surgeon living in Chicago. He meets this wonderful, wacky woman Savannah on the operating table. He is the surgeon repairing her broken neck. He has no idea what fun, games, and overwhelming love is headed his way that morning when he meets her for the first time. She quickly becomes a puzzle for him to solve. He doesn't understand the need he feels for her but knows that he must have her no matter what she says. She is reluctant to pursue their attraction even though it is as strong for her as it is for him. The interaction between him and Savannah will keep you turning the pages to find out who will win in this tug-of-war to find true love. Will he give up his single lifestyle and commit to "until death do us part"? Will he win in his goal to have this woman say yes when he decides yes is the only answer he will accept from her? A must-read for every baby boomer who is single and looking for that partner who will share the end of life and the "golden years" with them. This is fiction, but the stories are all based on wonderful people who have been in my life and influenced my creating these characters. I intend for this to be a series of books and already have the plot for book number 2. A sneak peek to that book is included.
