Book Though An Army Besiege Me

Download or read book Though An Army Besiege Me written by Maria Spillari and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009-10 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "THOUGH AN ARMY BESIEGE ME..." On April 18, 1996 in Guatemala City, a group of masked, armed men entered my house to steal and destroy. They took my youngest son, who was six years old at the time, and his father. They were held for several weeks in exchange for a significant amount of money. Those were days of great pain and suffering, but they were also days in which we really came to know that God Almighty exists, and He is always aware of our heartache. We live in a world of sin and injustice, a world that chooses to follow its own course. We suffer the consequences of sin, on both a large and small scale, on a daily basis. No one is exempt. Suffering affords us the opportunity to understand that our intelligence, ability, or power becomes useless, and there is only one way out: to look to the One who overcame the world, the One who does have the power. The way out can seem impossible, but in His time, God always clears a new path. The great things that God did in the life of my family cannot be put away in a drawer, gather dust, and be forgotten. The same God who did great things during those painful days in 1996 can do miracles today in your life, if you will just believe. MARIA SPILLARI currently lives with her three children in the United States. Maria has actively served in women's, youth, and children's ministries for nearly 20 years in the churches that she has belonged to in Guatemala and in the United States. Her passion is teaching about the Word of God. www.mariaspillari.com-coming soon in English!

Book The SAGE Handbook of Philosophy of Education

Download or read book The SAGE Handbook of Philosophy of Education written by Richard Bailey and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2010-03-23 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an authoritative, yet accessible guide to the Philosophy of Education, its scope, its key thinkers and movements, and its potential contribution to a range of educational concerns. The text offers a balanced view of three key dimensions: first, in giving an equal weight to different styles and modes of philosophy; second, by including past and present perspectives on philosophy of education; and third, in covering both the general "perennial" issues in philosophy and issues of more contemporary concern. Section one of the book exemplifies different styles of philosophy, paying attention to the contemporary debates as to the nature, possibilities and limitations of these different approaches to philosophy of education. Section two is devoted to particular thinkers of the past, and more general coverage of the history of philosophy of education. Section three is dedicated to contemporary philosophic thought on education, providing the basis and reference point for an exploration of contemporary issues. The handbook is designed primarily to be useful to students studying the field of philosophy of education, in the context of the study of educational foundations or theory. But it is also designed to be of use to practising teachers who wish to gain easy access to current philosophical thinking on particular contemporary educational issues, and to educationalists of all types who want a succinct guide to questions relating to the nature, the history, and the current state of the art of philosophy of education.

Book excerpt: If you have found the Psalms a source of comfort and strength, you will love this treatment of the first thirty psalms. Each psalm contains a commentary on the entire psalm, not just a verse or two. You will find the psalms like a mirror reflecting back to you experiences and emotions you yourself have had at one time or another. That's why the message they carry is as up to date as the morning newspaper. The psalmist has found his solutions in God, and we may find ours there as well. There is an old song which goes, "Where could I go but to the Lord?" The psalmist sounds that note again and again. The old gospel song puts it well, On Christ the solid Rock I stand, All other ground is sinking sand All other ground is sinking sand.

Book Journey Through the 8 Stages of Grief

Download or read book Journey Through the 8 Stages of Grief written by Tammy Packard Hoffman and published by Journey Lake Books. This book was released on 2018-09-27 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tammy Packard Hoffman's eight years of marital bliss ended abruptly when her husband was suddenly killed and she was badly injured on the same evening. Her subsequent dark days of grieving led her on a journey where she discovered that whenever we experience any type of loss, whether it's life changing or a minor inconvenience, we go through eight different emotional and physical stages known as "The Grieving Process." Discovering this information brought comfort and healing to Tammy, and she desires to encourage others during their grieving by educating them on "The Grieving Process." Each chapter of "Journey through the 8 Stages of Grief" contains four sections to help those who are grieving work through their pain. The first section explains a specific stage of grieving and shares what to expect during that stage. The second section contains Tammy's unfiltered journal entries which chronicle how she navigated through that stage. The third section gives practical steps on how to work through that stage of grieving. It also gives a list of suggestions for friends and family members who want to help someone going through a difficult time. The last section of each chapter gives Bible verses to provide comfort and encouragement. Because we will all experience several losses during our lives, it is a tremendous help to know what to expect and what to do during these times of suffering.
