Book Belonging Rules

Download or read book Belonging Rules written by Brad Deutser and published by BenBella Books. This book was released on 2023-09-26 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wall Street Journal Bestseller Leaders have an unprecedented opportunity to overcome the great disconnect between employers and employees by inviting individuals to become part of something bigger than themselves—to belong. Belonging Rules gives leaders the tools, knowledge, and confidence to harness belonging to address the workplace’s most critical challenges. The need to belong is innate and enduring, yet often elusive. Genuine belonging requires a bold approach, one that offers both depth and credibility to the work required from leaders whose organizations are craving a sense of connection, security, and acceptance. Belonging Rules offers nuanced, direct guidance for navigating both the pre-existing and ever-evolving social and organizational demands of today’s workplace. The five rules within, based on extensive research and application, create a framework to dissect and decode the complex, complicated, and controversial issues of the modern workforce. Executive coach and award-winning management consultant Brad Deutser gives leaders the confidence to address the most critical societal imperative—belonging. His approach doesn’t tell leaders what to do, rather he provides leaders with the how to: Identify the heart of existing power structures and societal mandates Reframe the impact of inclusion at an individual and organizational level Challenge and fundamentally redefine the relationship with diverse stakeholders Leading can be uncomfortable. This guide will empower leaders to shift attention, understanding, and effort toward bridging differences and uniting the “movable middle” which depowers the extremes, driving necessary change and desired performance.

Book Rules of Belonging

Download or read book Rules of Belonging written by Fiona Robertson and published by Major Street Publishing. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organisational culture is very poorly understood and has been way over-complicated. It's not easy, but it is simple. Once you know what to look for, you can identify the current culture of any group by the current rules of belonging in that group; you can articulate the desired culture as the new rules of belonging that will help speed up the execution of your strategy; and move from the current to desired state in a series of clear, deliberately managed steps. The subject of organisational culture is a hot topic globally with regulators of financial services and other industries increasingly seeking to enforce culture measurement and management and to sanction leaders who do not properly do both - up to and including criminal prosecution.Practically every senior leader is now looking at how to measure and manage culture and is struggling to know how to address it. The somewhat tragic fact is that most of them don't know what it is, let alone how to manage it. They consistently confuse culture with employee engagement (they are not the same thing!) and are running around trying to solve the wrong problem. We are seeing lots of frantic activity, most of which won't achieve anything other than making it look like someone is doing something, but almost none of which will result in actual culture change.Meanwhile leaders at all levels in large and small organisations are stuck with dysfunctional teams and need a way to take action immediately that will actually make a difference. Improving the culture of their team will speed up their ability to implement and radically reduce the time they would otherwise spend on managing conflict and dysfunction. This book will show them how.

Book How to Rule

Download or read book How to Rule written by Grant Duncan and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-09-30 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide through history for those perplexed about the fate of democracy and the government of diverse societies. In war and in peace, amid disruptive change and during reconstruction, a government of people and events will always be called for. But in this age of anxiety and uncertainty, people on the left and the right are losing confidence in governments, elections and politicians. Many ask whether democracy has failed, and ponder alternatives. Knowing how to govern, and how to be governed, are necessary for solving collectively our pressing social and ecological problems. This book rediscovers diverse models of government, including the successful statecraft and drastic mistakes of past rulers and their advisers. From ancient to modern times, what methods of government have arisen and succeeded, or what were their fatal flaws? What ethical and political ideas informed the rulers and the ruled? How have states dealt with unexpected calamities or with cultural and religious differences? And what kept things (more or less) running smoothly? Amid rapid change and political dissent, it’s timely to re-examine the ideas and practices that governed large populations and guided their rulers. In an age of political distrust, disruptive populism and global crises, we need to rearm ourselves with knowledge of history and diverse political ideas to better address contemporary problems. This book will appeal to students in political theory, political history, or history of government and public policy.

Book Economic Analysis of Liability Rules

Download or read book Economic Analysis of Liability Rules written by Satish Kumar Jain and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the analysis of liability rules of tort law from an efficiency perspective, presenting a comprehensive analysis of these rules in a self-contained and rigorous yet accessible manner. It establishes general results on the efficiency of liability rules, including complete characterizations of efficient liability rules and efficient incremental liability rules. The book also establishes that the untaken precaution approach and decoupled liability are incompatible with efficiency. The economic analysis of tort law has established that for efficiency it is necessary that each party to the interaction must be made to internalize the harm resulting from the interaction. The characterization and impossibility theorems presented in this book establish that, in addition to internalization of the harm by each party, there are two additional requirements for efficiency. Firstly, rules must be immune from strategic manipulation. Secondly, rules must entail closure with respect to the parties involved in the interaction giving rise to the negative externality, i.e., the liability must not be decoupled.

Book The Deconstruction of Narcissism and the Function of the Object

Download or read book The Deconstruction of Narcissism and the Function of the Object written by René Roussillon and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-11-18 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Deconstruction of Narcissism and the Function of the Object addresses the topic of narcissistic suffering and presents an innovative take on its psychoanalytic treatment through the deconstruction of its solipsism. Presenting a new approach which builds on intuitions described by Freud and Winnicott, René Roussillon introduces the project of reconstructing what remains of "narcissistic" and solipsistic propositions in the theories of narcissism. Roussillon’s work explores his views on narcissism, its multiple pathological manifestations and its connection to the concept of the object. Spanning topics such as sexualization and desexualization in psychoanalysis, the symbolizing function of the object, transference and associativity, this new approach to treatment provides more satisfactory therapeutic results than current practice which seeks to analyze narcissistic impasses from an intrapsychic perspective alone. This book will be of interest to psychoanalytic and psychodynamic clinicians.

Book Frege on Definitions

Download or read book Frege on Definitions written by John Horty and published by OUP USA. This book was released on 2007-11-16 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the latter part of the book, after introducing a simple semantic model of senses as procedures, Horty considers the problems that definitions present for Frege's idea that the sense of an expression should mirror its grammatical structure. The requirement can be satisfied, he argues, only if defined expressions - and incomplete expressions as well - are assigned senses of their own, rather dun treated contextually. He then explores one way in which these senses might be reified within the procedural model, drawing on ideas from work in the semantics of computer programming languages."--BOOK JACKET.

Book Intelligent Technologies for Information Analysis

Download or read book Intelligent Technologies for Information Analysis written by Ning Zhong and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-08-12 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today we live in an information age: information has become a commodity, and every second thousands of new records are created. This explosion of massive data sets created by businesses, science and governments necessitates intelligent and more powerful computing paradigms so that users can benefit from this data. This information needs to be summarized and synthesized to support effective problem solving and decision making. The papers in this book assume an interdisciplinary approach based on three major methodologies: first, hybridization, i.e., combining methods in order to harness their strengths and avoid their shortcomings; second, multiphase processing, i.e., the step-wise preparation, evaluation and refinement of data; and, third, multi-agent and distributed processing, i.e., using intelligent agents as well as Web or grid architectures. The final vision of the authors is an intelligent information technology, encompassing theories and applications from, for example, artificial intelligence, data mining, grid computing, and statistical learning. This monograph presents the current state of research and development in both theoretical and application aspects of intelligent information analysis. It is a source of reference and includes numerous examples for researchers, graduate students and advanced professionals working in areas such as electronic commerce, business intelligence, and knowledge grids.
