Book Being Tossed to and Fro the Way to Steady Yourself

Download or read book Being Tossed to and Fro the Way to Steady Yourself written by M. C. Paul and published by WestBowPress. This book was released on 2013-10-11 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is there a meaning to my life? This question confronts every one of us at one stage or another. The answer comes from within us in the form of another question: How can I know unless I created me myself? If we assume that man is a created being, we tend to say that the creator should reveal Himself and give meaning to his life. This revelation naturally has to be progressive, as life is always in progress. Man gets convinced finally when God becomes a man to reveal it to him. This conviction in his mind leads him to commitment of his will and it results in new life in his heart. The Bible says that this happens when man receives the good news about Jesus and His death on the cross. The purpose of this new life according to the Bible is to become like Jesus. There is a force which tries to pull man away from experiencing this new life. If a man persists and experiences it, then this force doesnt allow him to progress in this new life. Various tricks are played. The most prominent is false teaching. It does not allow believers to understand the Bible rightly. The essential doctrines to be accepted in unity are deliberately distorted. Spurious doctrines are promoted. The pairs of truth presented in the Bible are not allowed to be held in balance. Different kinds of experiences in the lives of biblical characters are ignored; only one is emphasized at the expense of all others. Various means of grace are not allowed to be tapped, and only one means of grace is shown. Full armour is not allowed to be put on and only one piece is shown to be sufficient to wage the battle. False teaching leaves the believers poverty-stricken in their faith and defenceless in their battle. This book presents polemical teaching to enable believers overcome these tricky hindrances and helps them march forward into the likeness of Jesus.

Download or read book The Falklands War written by Gordon Ramsey and published by After the Battle. This book was released on 2009-03-30 with total page 1786 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1982, Argentina rashly gambled that a full-scale invasion of the Falkland Islands — ownership of which had been disputed with Great Britain for over a century — would put an end to years of political wrangling. However Britain’s response was to immediately dispatch a task force to recover the islands, by force if necessary. The ‘conflict’ which followed (a formal declaration of war was never given) lasted ten weeks from Argentine invasion to British liberation, the white heat of battle using 20th century technology contrasting with bitter hand-to-hand bayonet fighting in inhospitable conditions. Eyewitness accounts by the participants of both sides, and islanders, leave us in no doubt as to the ferocity of the combat on land, sea, and in the air. Comparison photography in color of all the battlefields, the crash sites of the aircraft shot down, the relics and the remains, together with portraits of those who lost their lives and the battlefield memorials, serve as a graphic testimony to their endeavors, 25 years after the battle. A Roll of Honour lists the casualties of both sides and, for the first time, the graves of all the British fallen — both on the islands and in the United Kingdom — have been visited and photographed as a lasting record of all those who made the supreme sacrifice.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Book excerpt: In 21st-century America's future, the American dream borders on extinction. Propped up by massive debt, the economy produces no real goods. The rest of the world starves while America stockpiles food. Large cities thrive, but infrastructure crumbles in less populated areas. The government teeters on the brink of insolvency as it mortgages America's posterity. Like many citizens, cynical ad executive Mark Reardon is too busy to notice the country's decline. Working 100-hour weeks directing ad campaigns for multi-national corporations, Mark has neither the time nor the inclination to take on small clients. Hence, when a religious fringe group, The Society for Truth, comes seeking representation, Mark only meets with them reluctantly. However, he is stunned when offered a $3 billion contract to warn the world of impending disaster. Quickly forgetting his reservations, Mark accepts the deal, but soon finds things are not as they seem. Before he realizes his peril, Mark's family is missing, his Society contact is dead, and he is in the hands of an ever-watching and all-encompassing enemy known only as The Company. Fighting to escape and locate his wife and daughter, Mark is pursued by clones, betrayed by friends, and tormented by prophetic visions. Not knowing who to trust, Mark bounces between The Company and The Society, eventually facing his past and embracing his destiny as God's final prophet preceding the coming judgment. "Cry for Tomorrow" is an apocalyptic thriller highlighting the economic and technological factors contributing to societal collapse. While portraying mankind's inability to save himself and his world, the novel explores the dichotomy of spirituality and materialism and the conflict these values create for Mark Reardon and his family. In this time of uncertainty, "Cry for Tomorrow" points readers toward an eternal and unchanging hope.

Download or read book From Carpenter to King written by John Fuja and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-09-09 with total page 639 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Carpenter to King is a fictitious narrative of what Jesus’s private life might have been like during his public ministry. The novel focuses equally on the human and the divine nature of Christ. The story delves into the acrimonious relationship between Caiaphas, the high priest, and his father-in-law, Annas. Both men are despised by the Roman procurator, Pontius Pilate. Centurion Gaius Longinus is appointed by Pilate to clandestinely follow the Messiah. His plan is to use Jesus as his pawn in bringing about the downfall of Annas and Caiaphas. Pilate’s wife—Claudia, the granddaughter of Caesar—appeals to her father, a noted Roman senator, to allow her half brother Marcus to begin his military career under her husband’s command. On his first mission as a courier, Marcus is captured and abused by a brigand named Barabbas. The incident prompts General Flavius to resign from the senate and sail to the Middle East with a cohort of soldiers. Once he and his army arrived, Flavius wreaked havoc throughout Galilee as he attempted to capture his son’s abuser. The novel remains true to the Gospel’s accounts while also intertwining the personal lives and loves of individuals who have been touched by Jesus. Blended within the story is a copious amount of intrigue.
