Book excerpt: Thank you Bill for your friendship and your Wonderful endorsement it means so much to Anthony and I. And Titus, what can dad and I say. You have a flair for taking powerful pictures. Thank you for taking the one above of us on the swing for this book we will remember it always son. Over a decade ago, the author of this book sent me a short story with a number of photos to place on my Eddy Arnold website, which I have maintained since 1997. Happily, I posted it immediately as I was confident the visitors to the site would enjoy reading it as much as I did. The narrative was a beautiful true story of a young boy who loved his family, his God, his Church, and Eddy Arnold. It was a big hit on the site. It remains on the Index page of the site. And now this narrative has grown into a book with over three hundred pages. Many of these chapters were written over a period of years. I found this book to be a Mom & Apple Pie, type... full of love and happiness and American families. When reading this wonderful book you will experience romance, marriage, birth, death, happiness, sadness, health, sickness and always the love and power of the Almighty! The author is so skilled in her writing that I could visually see the events described printed page. Although you will shed, a tear or two while engaged with the real people in their sadness it will fade as the overall theme of the book will make you happy. This book is a MUST READ for Eddy Arnold fans and all who enjoy reading just a plain GOOD BOOK! Bill Comer, Webmaster for Welcome to the World of Eddy Arnold www.eddyarnold.com

Download or read book Blue Moon on Water written by G B Gordon and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2019-10-16 with total page 286 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1950s, just a few years after Newfoundland entered Confederation, the first official provincial resettlement program saw thousands of islanders leave their coastal out-port communities to resettle on the mainland. The plan was that families would have better access to schools, medical care, community infrastructure such as roads and electricity, and employment. For many, this included putting their houses on barges and floating them to their new location. Blue Moon on Water is the story of the fictional Moore family, their salt cod and lobster fishing community of Deer Island, and their ultimate decision to resettle. Told through the eyes of Hannah Marie, an inquisitive teenager, we follow the day-to-day lives of the people in her community and learn of their hopes, dreams, loves, celebrations, fishing, and food. Told with love, humour, and pride, these are the stories of people who have shaped the resilient culture of Newfoundland and the ever-indomitable spirit of its people.

Book excerpt: WHITE WIND, BLACK RIDER Oboko finds Matari like a blur of darkness lying in the snow of a blizzard. After he carries her lifeless body into an ancient abandoned temple he is astonished when she opens her eyes. What had seemed a frozen lump of silk is transformed into a beautiful woman. Matari says softly, "I didn't die." Thus begins the most dramatic and moving of Luke Rhinehart's books. He has woven an exciting story of three samurai and the beautiful woman they each love, trapped by their very virtues into deadly conflict. Oboko is the poet of the wind, a peace-loving student of Zen; Izzi, the lusty, life-loving court poet on his way to serve the great Lord Arishi, a proud samurai who has vowed to kill Matari, who he believes has been unfaithful. When Lord Arishi's samurai pursue them, Oboko, Izzi and Matari each must choose, with each of their lives in the balance. "A strange jewel of a book; it casts lights and shadows although it is as simply written as a child's poem" ...Kilburn Times. "A powerful, exciting yarn"...All About Books.
