Sahoo and published by Laxmi Book Publication. This book was released on 2024-04-26 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The food is an essential requirement of human beings. The prehistoric humans primarily got their food from the wild edible plants but since the time passed, they started to cultivate the wild plants. The traditions of those prehistoric humans take very prominent part in the origin of cultivation of plants. The domestication of plants is the starting step in the direction of a full- fledged agricultural economy. A plant is refers to as domestic when its natural characteristics got improved too much therefore it is hard to grow and reproduce those plant without human participation. It is thought the domestication is the co-evolutionary outcome of the symbiotic relationship between humans and the plants because plants and human behaviours evolve to suit one another. The humans started harvesting of plants selectively based on some precise characteristics of plants like taste, size, colour and many more. They stored and utilize the seeds of those specific plants for further cultivation.

Download or read book Tribal Development in Western India written by Amita Shah and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-08-12 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tribal communities in western India, as elsewhere in the country, have been facing increasing marginalisation and poverty. This is so despite a relatively better record of social movements and work by civil society organisations among them and their political inclusion. Further, the existing literature on tribals focuses more on their socio-cultural situation and less on their economic and human development. Addressing this gap in scholarship, this volume details the processes of tribal development and associated challenges in Gujarat, often viewed as a high-growth economy. Rich in interdisciplinary, empirical analyses, the book comprehensively addresses three important aspects of tribal development — human development, economic opportunities and governance. It critiques recent policy diagnoses and interventions, rather than evaluate policy-outcomes. The volume traces the genesis of continued marginalisation of tribals in the country, and contributes to the ongoing discourse on integrative tribal development. The work will interest scholars and students of development studies, tribal studies, economics, sociology, social work, as also policy-makers, activists, and governmental and non-governmental organisations in the field.

Download or read book Resource Development in Tribal India written by Shri Kamal Sharma and published by Northern Book Centre. This book was released on 1989 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is a treatise of the consequential problems of interactions between population, resources and development. Resources play such a vital role in our economy that the evaluation of territorial distribution of resource-complexes and their potentialities for a balanced and integrated development cannot be disassociated from the wider field of planning for regional development. But the degree of exploitation of development potentials depends heavily upon human, socio-political and economic-technological factors; and variation in these attributes of man causes variation in resource evaluation and their utilization. In the present politico-economic structure those people who are conscious to their rights and those areas which are dominated by such people get benefits of developmental efforts. The tribal people and areas dominated by them could not exert decisive influence on decision-making of resource utilization and development planning. Consequently, all transportable resources are exported out of such regions.
Download or read book The Significance of Minor Forest Produce in the Indian Tribal Economy written by Kalsani Mohan Reddy and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-10-19 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book uses empirical data to articulate the issues of the Indian tribal economy in general and the role of minor forest produce in the tribal economy in particular. It throws new light on hitherto under-researched areas, especially those related to the significance of minor forest produce. This book is primarily based on the functioning of the tribal economy and draws on the experience gained by the author during his sojourn as a research scholar working the debt of tribal farmers and the technological gap in tribal agriculture. Empirical evidence is given in the present book to explore the validity of the earlier hypotheses in respect of the contribution of minor forest produce to the total income of the tribal households. Furthermore, a statistical analysis is undertaken to ascertain the relative contribution of each forest product to the augmentation of tribal earnings. The empirical work in this book also corroborates the theories of dependency between the forest and the tribals.
