Book Because I Have Been There

Download or read book Because I Have Been There written by Bob Jacobs and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have written this book with the unique perspective of standing in God’s White Light, during an afterlife experience. With an open mind and a glimpse of what lies ahead for us, I now have a non-traditional explanation for parts of the Bible. Verses from the Bible are used as a backdrop to parts of this book. Inside, details are given on why it doesn’t matter how you get to God. From my real life experiences, I now understand that Religion isn’t about who is wrong and who is right. It is about finding our peace. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus teaches us how to find our peace. This peace is the gateway to God and His Light. This book is also designed to be a handbook or guide. This guide will help people understand why the Church and Religion will still be very important after disclosure of intelligent alien life happens. After a disclosure event of this kind, this book will explain and help people understand that it doesn’t matter. The reason being, is that God and Jesus are still both very real.

Book We re Here Because You Were There

Download or read book We re Here Because You Were There written by Ian Patel and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the origins of the hostile environment for immigrants in Britain? Chosen as a BBC History Magazine Book of the Year 2021 and shortlisted for the PEN Hessell-Tiltman Prize 2022 In the wedded stories of migration and the end of empire, Ian Sanjay Patel uncovers a forgotten history of post-war Britain. After the Second World War, what did it mean to be a citizen of the British empire and the post-war Commonwealth of Nations? Post-war migrants coming to Britain were soon renamed immigrants in laws that prevented their entry despite their British nationality. The experiences of migrants and the archival testimony of officials and politicians at home and abroad, retold here, define Britain’s role in the global age of decolonization.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the origins of the hostile environment for immigrants in Britain? Drawing on new archival material from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Ian Sanjay Patel retells Britain’s recent history in an often shocking account of state racism that still resonates today. In a series of post-war immigration laws, Britain’s colonial and Commonwealth citizens from the Caribbean, Asia and Africa were renamed immigrants. In the late 1960s, British officials drew upon an imperial vision of the world to contain what it saw as a vast immigration ‘crisis’ involving British citizens, passing legislation to block their entry. As a result, British citizenship itself was redefined along racial lines, fatally compromising the Commonwealth and exposing the limits of Britain’s influence in world politics. Combining voices of so-called immigrants trying to make a home in Britain and the politicians, diplomats and commentators who were rethinking the nation, Ian Sanjay Patel excavates the reasons why Britain failed to create a post-imperial national identity. The reactions of the British state to post-war immigration reflected the shift in world politics from empires to decolonization. Despite a new international recognition of racial equality, Britain’s colonial and Commonwealth citizens were subject to a new regime of immigration control based on race. From the Windrush generation who came to Britain from the Caribbean to the South Asians who were forced to migrate from East Africa, Britain was caught between attempting both to restrict the rights of its non-white colonial and Commonwealth citizens and redefine its imperial role in the world. Despite Britain’s desire to join Europe, which eventually occurred in 1973, its post-imperial moment never arrived, subject to endless deferral and reinvention.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1998. This is the final volume of eighteen in the political sociology series. Using past fairly well-equipped accounts of the acquisition of independence by former colonial countries, the author seeks to fill the gap of comparative studies which endeavour to find the elements common to the various stories and to bring to bear on the whole complex process the light of political sociology.
