Book excerpt: Move beyond Coping and Surviving to a Rejuvenating Place of Soul Rest How many of us find ourselves exhausted, running on empty with no time for rest, no time for ourselves, no time for God? Bonnie Gray knows exactly what that's like. On the brink of fulfilling a lifelong dream, Bonnie's plans suddenly went off script. Her life shattered into a debilitating journey through anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. But as she struggled to make sense of it all, she made an important discovery: we all need spiritual whitespace. Spiritual whitespace makes room--room in one's heart for a deep relationship with God, room in one's life for rest, room in one's soul for rejuvenation. With soul-stirring vulnerability and heartbreaking honesty, Bonnie takes readers on a personal journey to feed their souls and uncover the deeper story of rest. Lyrical writing draws readers into Gray's intimate journey through overwhelming stress to find God in a broken story and celebrate the beauty of faith. Guided by biblical encouragement and thought-provoking prompts, Gray shows readers how to create space in the everyday for God, refreshment, and faith. She also offers practical steps and insights for making spiritual whitespace a reality, right in the midst of the stress-frayed stories in every season of life. "We live in a culture that brags and boasts about being busy. Into that reality steps Bonnie with a new idea. Whitespace is an important concept and Bonnie has captured it perfectly. Book Soul Signs In Love

Download or read book Soul Signs In Love written by Diane Eichenbaum and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2001-02-08 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you believe that the key to finding your soul mate is only in your stars? That you and your partner must have compatible Sun signs if romance is going to thrive? Not so! The truth is that many couples who seem ideally matched astrologically don't sustain a loving relationship. While most astrology books may tell you that true love is a matter of fate, Diane Eichenbaum's Soul Signs in Love shows you that you have the freedom to create the relationship that's right for you. Eichenbaum reveals that relationships involve a combination of factors: destiny, an understanding of each partner's sign, and the willingness to work through the highs and lows of love's natural progression. Each of the twelve signs of the Zodiac corresponds to a phase of a romance, from passionate court-ship, represented by fiery Aries, to the commitment and soul bonding of watery Pisces. Each Sun sign has its gifts (the discernment of Virgo or the enthusiasm of Sagittarius, for example) and its corresponding challenges (the self-doubt of Taurus or the unpredictability of Aquarius) that it brings to a relationship. By understanding that the choice to love and grow with your partner is yours and yours alone, Soul Signs in Love shows you how to enjoy and revel in the unfolding process of discovery and revelation that underlies lasting love.

Download or read book Too Great a Sky written by Liliana Corobca and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2024-10-29 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of the deportation of Romanians from Bucovina to the steppes of Siberia, an exercise in historical memory and a powerful story of maintaining humanity in impossible conditions. A new novel from Liliana Corobca and her translator Monica Cure, winner of the Oxford-Weidenfeld translation prize. Ana is eleven when the Soviet soldiers send her from Bucovina, Romania, to Kazakhstan. She is just one of many forced to leave behind her home and make the three week long journey via train. The trip is a harsh, humiliating one, but in spite of the cold and the closeness of death, life persists in the boxcar in the form of storytelling, riddles, and ritual. Years later, Ana recalls her childhood for her great granddaughter, who is considering moving her to a nursing home. Her story, told with unflinching candor, is a chronicle of a life lived during a time of great political and national change, a story of an existence defined and curtailed by lines drawn on a map. The narration is interspersed with songs that transform into poems, and prayers spoken in the past that become prayers in the present. What links the narration is not so much a plot as it is the reader’s astonishment. How could Ana survive such a series of experiences, and do so with her mind and heart intact? A history of cruelty and trauma lies behind the banal markers of contemporary life. These realizations combine in the central theme of the book, one which the narrator describes as, “stories bring you youth.”

I started writing songs when I was about 73 years old and they just keep on coming to me after I bought a guitar seems I would hear the strings saying the words of the song. I got my first guitar when I was about fourteen years old but hadnt played for many years. I have been blessed by God all through my life with a family that I love with all my heart and they have loved and blessed me with so many grandchildren and now the family is growing with many great grandchildren I can hardly keep up with the number. It does the heart good to hear the word grandpa. So, to everyone who bought my first book and may buy or read this song book, love one another and this world will be a much better place.
