Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reverend Doctor Minh Van Lam was born into a Buddhist family in 1939 in Bac Lieu Province, South Vietnam. His mother said family and friends thought he would live until three years after his birth. After he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in 1947, when he was eight years old, he asked God to let him live until he was eighteen years old so that he could work and make money for his mother, and then he would die. But God performed miracles, allowing him to continue living. These are some highlights from his early career: He graduated from the National School of Pedagogy in Saigon in 1959. He graduated from the English Language School of the Defense Language Institute in Lackland Air Force Base to become a teacher of the English language in 1968. He was a public elementary school principal and high school teacher in Soc Trang, South Vietnam, as well as the Armed Forces Language School instructor of the South Vietnam Army in Saigon. He holds a bachelor of arts in biblical studies from the Washington Bible College in Lanham, Maryland, a master of divinity from the Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Maryland, and a doctor of ministry from the Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia. He has been a mission pastor of Grand Ave Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas; Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia; Vietnamese United Baptist Church in Austin, Texas; First Baptist Church of Pensacola, Florida; Vietnamese Gospel Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida; and Vietnamese Gospel Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia (from 1987 to 1995 and 2010 to the present). He was an adjunct professor of the Boyce Bible College of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Extension and the John Leland Center for Theological Studies in Arlington, Virginia, and was vice president of the Vietnamese Baptist Theological School in Dallas, Texas. He has been a speaker at Vietnamese National Church conferences in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Australia, as well as a speaker for the Alpha and Omega Program at Vietnam Public Radio in Washington, DC. Now Screen World editor Barry Monush has compiled another comprehensive work for every film lover's library. In the first of two volumes, this book chronicles the careers of every significant film actor, from the earliest silent screen stars – Chaplin, Pickford, Fairbanks – to the mid-1960s, when the old studio and star systems came crashing down. Each listing includes: a brief biography, photos from the famed Screen World archives, with many rare shots; vital statistics; a comprehensive filmography; and an informed, entertaining assessment of each actor's contributions – good or bad! In addition to every major player, Monush includes the legions of unjustly neglected troupers of yesteryear. The result is a rarity: an invaluable reference tool that's as much fun to read as a scandal sheet. It pulsates with all the scandal, glamour, oddity and glory that was the lifeblood of its subjects. Book The Fire Next Time

Download or read book The Fire Next Time written by James Baldwin and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1963, James Baldwin's A Fire Next Time stabbed at the heart of America's so-called ldquo;Negro problemrdquo;. As remarkable for its masterful prose as it is for its uncompromising account of black experience in the United States, it is considered to this day one of the most articulate and influential expressions of 1960s race relations. The book consists of two essays, ldquo;My Dungeon Shook mdash; Letter to my Nephew on the One Hundredth Anniversary of Emancipation,rdquo; and ldquo;Down At The Cross mdash; Letter from a Region of My Mind.rdquo; It weaves thematic threads of love, faith, and family into a candid assault on the hypocrisy of the so-say ldquo;land of the freerdquo;, insisting on the inequality implicit to American society. ldquo;You were born where you were born and faced the future that you facedrdquo;, Baldwin writes to his nephew, ldquo;because you were black and for no other reason.rdquo; His profound sense of injustice is matched by a robust belief in ldquo;monumental dignityrdquo;, in patience, empathy, and the possibility of transforming America into ldquo;what America must become.rdquo;

Book Richard Paul Evans Ebook Christmas Set

Download or read book Richard Paul Evans Ebook Christmas Set written by Richard Paul Evans and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-12-07 with total page 748 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three magical Christmas books from one of the world’s most beloved storytellers, the #1 New York Times bestselling author, Richard Paul Evans. The Christmas List What if someone read their obituary before they died? When real estate mogul James Kier is mistaken for another by the same name, he learns firsthand what the world really thinks of him, and decides to change his future. A holiday tale of true redemption, this novel will warm your season. The Christmas Box Miracle: My Spiritual Journey of Destiny, Healing and Hope In 1994, Richard Paul Evans, then an unknown writer, self-published a short book entitled The Christmas Box. That book went on to become an international bestseller, touching the lives of millions of people. The Christmas Box Miracle is the story behind the book that has become a Christmas classic: how a man writes and publishes a book which helps grieving people to heal and lost souls to find their way home. It is Evans’s story: his own spiritual journey and stories of people he encountered along the way—miraculous stories of healing and divinity that often defy explanation. Finding Noel The Christmas season is supposed to be full of joy, but not for Mark Smart. Life had dealt him one body blow after another: he lost his scholarship and had to drop out of school; his beloved mother had died in a car crash; his girlfriend dumped him, and now, late on a snowy night in November, his car had broken down. Stumbling into a coffee house, he was looking for a phone to call a tow truck. What he found was a beautiful young woman with an unusual name who, through a simple act of kindness, changed his life forever. Finding Noel is an inspiring novel about the power of love and the wonder of Christmas.

Book Born to Serve

Download or read book Born to Serve written by Dennis R. Fox and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2015-12-10 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wanted to escape from what seemed like a hopeless accomplishment? Instances in my life added fuel to that kind of thinking and could have devastated mepoor grade-school results, four years of failure in piano lessons, difficulty in memorization, fear of public speaking, and failure to be accepted into a college due to an entrance exam debacle. Consequently, I developed low self-esteem and believed I was worthless and even ugly. Also I wondered what happens after death or if death is the end. If there is life after death, is there a definitive answer? In my youth I became burdened with the horrible thought, I do not want to die! If burdensome thoughts have entered your mind, and you need a positive outlook, read Born to Serve. You might be amazed at the outcome in my life. For anyone searching for the meaning of life, you must read Dennis Foxs book. He found the secret to happiness by finding a life filled with service to Jesus Christ and exemplified life with a commitment to faith. I am far from a born-again Christian, in fact, I am a conservative Roman Catholic, yet I found joy and purpose in his writing. The only other thing, which is important, he did not convey the completeness with which his late wife gave hugs. When Joy hugged you, you knew you were loved with every cell of your body. A. Mary Walborn, MD with the Cleveland Clinic
