Book excerpt: Wind and Thoughts isn’t merely a collection of poems; it is a sacred thread of emotions—an override of loving and loss. The book touches upon the lost emotions of everyday sociality. Emotions get brought up during conversations and need a welcoming heart to embrace them. This ‘welcoming’ is the core motivation for Shainal Verma, who intends to invite all the readers to introspect and reflect upon their emotions. Poetry is incomplete without grounding oneself in this simmering pool of emotions. Shainal Verma’s quest is simple, to voice the ‘taken for granted’ emotions as they hold the potential to teach us so much and liberate us. Wind and Thoughts embarks you on a journey of recognizing the different relationships and the value they bring into one’s life, be it a relationship with your mother, father or a friend. It structures down the vast scope of the meaning of love, heartbreak, and what it means to be a woman, making us see beauty in everything, even pain. Wind and Thoughts is the author’s culmination of pure expression. Before you grasp it, ensure you’re ready to reflect on this roller coaster of life.

Book Six Stops on the National Security Tour

Download or read book Six Stops on the National Security Tour written by Miriam Pemberton and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-07-18 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. military economy incorporates hundreds of American communities. This is the first book to connect our national security apparatus to the local level via deeply reported portraits of six carefully selected locations, including military Meccas and out-of-the-way places. They are woven into the warfare economy by bases, nuclear weapons labs, and production sites. The book includes an invaluable overview of how the military is structured, how its budget is made, and what it costs. It also shows how the military economy perpetuates itself. In on-the-ground reporting, Pemberton traces the lines of connection between the tour stops presented here and our country’s foreign policy, industrial policy, and budget priorities. She examines the meaning of national security in the current moment, as climate change becomes what the military itself calls "an urgent and growing threat." And she dramatically demonstrates how redirecting our militarized foreign and industrial policy toward climate security can help these communities become part of the solution. For students, scholars, public servants, and all concerned citizens, this book is essential reading.

It also looks at the future role for the UK Government and the Regional Development Agencies, the implementation of the UK's National Aerospace Technology Strategy, and the impact of the current World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute between the US and the European Union (EU) over government subsidies.Given the fact that the sale of BAE's stake in the company has left the UK without a significant shareholding in

Book Corporate Argumentation in Takeover Bids

Download or read book Corporate Argumentation in Takeover Bids written by Rudi Palmieri and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2014-11-15 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume systematically investigates the role of argumentation in takeover bids. The announcement of these financial proposals triggers an argumentative situation, in which both the economic desirability and the social acceptability of the deal become argumentative issues for different classes of stakeholders (shareholders, employees, customers, etc.). The study focuses on the strategic maneuvers that corporate directors deploy in order to persuade their audiences while complying with precise regulatory requirements, designed to allow shareholders to make reasonable decisions. A conceptual reframing of takeovers as an argumentative context brings to light the different argumentative situations of friendly and hostile bids. The argumentative strategies that corporate directors adopt in the two situations are identified and analyzed on the basis of a corpus of takeover documents referring to offers launched in the UK market between 2006 and 2010. The argumentative reconstruction focuses in particular on the inferential configuration of arguments, which is accomplished by means of the Argumentum Model of Topics (AMT). This kind of analysis enables capturing the inherently argumentative processes through which information becomes a relevant starting point for investment decisions.
