Download or read book Military Logistics Made Easy written by James H. Henderson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You already know that logistics is hard, it should not be, but it just is. The key components to supply and movement consist of receive, store, issue, and move. It should be that simple. Bottom line: it just is not that simple. There are too many moveable parts where the synergy of the operation could provide a scenario where the combined requirements needed to sustain a theater are greater than the sum of their individual effects or capabilities. . This book outlines some of these logistical components and their doctrinal relationship to the operation, as well as provides some new ideas. . The chapters are formatted in a fashion that offer the reader the doctrinal concept that the operation or function is based on, and then presents new theories on how to better execute the logistical function or capability as it relates to the operation. . The goal is to discuss those hard logistical topics and their conception to improve the general knowledge and understanding on "why it happens", and "how we can improve the outcome".

Download or read book from Sea level to C level written by E. Matthew Buckley and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-07-14 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Sea Level to C Level is written through the eyes of a former Navy fighter pilot who turns his Naval experience into a hugely successful career, first in corporate America, then as a thriving entrepreneur. The book draws upon the Navy's unparalleled approach to planning, execution, strategy, and leadership and offers a completely unique and proprietary set of tools that men and women in any profession can use to drive their careers to new heights. After 15 years and 44 combat sorties in the cockpit of F/A-18 Hornet, E. Matthew Buckley - call sign: Whiz - was preparing for a career with American Airlines when the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center changed the trajectory of both his career and his life. With the airline industry in turmoil, he turned his attention to corporate America, consulting with such notable firms as GE, Cisco, Gilead Sciences, and AT&T. At age 38, he went from Managing Director of a $2.5B options trading firm on Wall Street to CEO of a financial media company, all the while applying fighter pilot techniques to front office planning and execution. Now a highly sought-after public speaker and founder of TOPGUN Options and chairman of the TOPGUN Fighter Foundation, the many lessons Whiz focuses on in From Sea Level to C Level include the art of the brief, the value of the debrief, how to "red team," and how to create a "corporate battle rhythm." His story is motivating; his leadership and business lessons are transformative.
Download or read book Navy Staff Officer s Guide written by Dale C Rielage and published by Naval Institute Press. This book was released on 2022-11-15 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuing the tradition of Naval Institute Blue and Gold series classics such as Command at Sea and the Watch Officer’s Guide, the Navy Staff Officer’s Guide will equip naval leaders for success in the challenging professional environment of a Navy staff. Navy staffs build and equip the Navy, plan its future, and guide its current operations. During a staff tour, a savvy Navy leader can have positive reach beyond the lifelines of a single command, with impact across the fleet and years into the future. Staff duty emphasizes a different set of tools from those typically employed in sea duty billets. It has its own formal and informal expectations and its own opportunities, challenges, and pitfalls. This guide provides and explains those tools — and marks the shoals that can wreck the unaware — enabling both new and seasoned staff officers to be prepared for the unique requirements of staff duty. Through extensive use of historical examples and “sea stories,” it introduces the reader to why staffs exist, how they impact the Navy, and how they can offer both professional development and meaningful accomplishment. Recognizing that Navy staffs vary in their purposes and organization, The Navy Staff Officer’s Guide synthesizes those differences into meaningful guidance for all staff officers, civilians, and Sailors, whether assigned to a destroyer squadron staff operating from a DDG or to the OPNAV staff in the Pentagon. Effective coordination, clear communication, and an understanding of the commander and their mission are central to staff success and are clearly articulated. In twenty-three chapters covering the many aspects of Navy staff work—including “The Staff Command Triad,” “Communicating as a Staff Officer,” “Civilian Personnel,” “Fleet Commands and the Maritime Operations Centers,” and “TYCOMs and SYSCOMs”—Captain Rielage has “covered the waterfront” (in Sailor-speak) with this comprehensive and readable guide. Staffs may not win the fight, but good staff work creates the conditions for victory before the first shot is fired. This guide is the key to ensuring the success of Navy staffs and all those who serve them.

Download or read book Decently and In Order written by Otis H. Corbitt, III and published by Otis H. Corbitt, III. This book was released on 2022-04-14 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seminary taught me to be a pastor, but the Army taught me to be a leader! We live in a broken, fallen world which does not work exactly the way God originally intended. Instead of being a well-ordered and totally functional environment like the perfect, Holy God who created it, the world in which we live often manifests its brokenness by descending into near chaos. Unless action is taken to correct the decline, all aspects of our world descend towards chaos, and our ministry efforts are no exception. The military forces of the United States operate in a harsh environment that does not tolerate failure. Whether it is rescuing hostages from a terrorist camp, flying high-performance aircraft in all types of weather, operating nuclear power-plants, or even just feeding its troops in an austere field location, military operations must succeed because the price of failure is too high. Therefore, the military has developed excellent schemes for ensuring the success of events and operations. Without a doubt, the U.S. military knows how to operate in every clime and every country across the world. Anyone who wants to be successful in leading any kind of team, operation, or event can do no better than to learn how to operate the way the military does. The purpose of this book is not to turn churches into armies or ministry volunteers into soldiers but to provide a powerful tool, which used appropriately in context, can help any church or ministry conduct their operations effectively and efficiently. In short, do not be afraid because these techniques originated in a military context; your author’s personal experience of using them in ministry revealed them to be valuable and effectual.
Download or read book Network centric Operations Case Study written by Daniel Gonzales and published by Rand Corporation. This book was released on 2005 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The authors of this report seek to understand how network-centric operations (NCO) capabilities are a source of combat power for the Army's Stryker brigade and to determine the extent to which the tenets of NCO are realized by the unit. Using a broad range of measures of effectiveness, the authors compared the performance of a Stryker brigade with that of a nondigitized light infantry brigade in certification exercises at the Joint Readiness Training Center and found that the Stryker brigade's superior networking capabilities, superior shared situational awareness, speed of command, and ability to control the speed of command vastly improved the brigade's performance in these exercises. Using NCO measures of effectiveness, this analysis sheds light on the NCO capabilities that made the Stryker brigade a more agile and effective combat force. The authors conclude by discussing the potential implications of future NCO capabilities for future Army forces."--BOOK JACKET.
