Book Like a BAT OUT OF HELL

Download or read book Like a BAT OUT OF HELL written by Arthur George Edgerton and published by Dorrance Publishing. This book was released on 2023-01-16 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Like a "BAT OUT OF HELL" By: Arthur George Edgerton Arthur George Edgerton was born in 1929 in Fairmont, West Virginia. He currently resides in Chicago, Illinois. He enjoys playing the piano and plays for fun whenever he gets the chance. He graduated from Loop College with an Associate's Degree in music in 1981. He wrote this novel about his own life experiences and the dangerous and immoral acts that he repeatedly committed. He feels grateful to have lived through his experiences and hopes the readers learn from his mistakes. He wants others to see that any secret or immoral act can be deadly so that they understand the consequences of their actions prior to making a poor judgement in their life. Arthur grew up near the coal mines in West Virginia, where his father worked for thirty years. He survived many traumas and challenges throughout his life and lived to write about all of them. He suffered the tragic losses of several siblings and lost touch with loved ones. As a teenager, he was arrested and eventually sent away to a reform school by his parents. He eventually served almost seven years at the now closed West Virginia State Penitentiary. Arthur also lived a risky adulthood as a gay man with a very active sex life that he discusses in this fascinating memoir.

Book Spell binding Spells

Download or read book Spell binding Spells written by Anindya Dutta and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2017-10-31 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spell-binding Spells is a book for everyone who loves cricket. It is about stunning spells—those few overs that occur rarely in cricket, when bowlers weave magic and batsmen are mesmerized. What did the stunning bowling spells of Anil Kumble, Narendra Hirwani, Ravichandran Ashwin, Padmakar Shivalkar, and Yuzvendra Chahal achieve that Kapil Dev’s career best spell could not? Curtly Ambrose and Sarfraz Nawaz, 14-years apart, bowled identical deadly spells against the same opposition taking 7 wickets for 1 run. Who were the hapless victims? Why did Gary Gilmour of Australia with an ODI bowling average of 10.31 and Clarrie Grimmett of Australia after taking 13 wickets in a Test in two magnificent spells, never play for their respective countries again? Spell-binding Spells looks at 50 of the most magnificent bowling spells in the history of cricket and answers some of these questions. VVS Laxman says: “This book is a tribute to bowlers, a breed that has never profited from the benefit of the doubt in a sport whose rules have historically always favoured batsmen. This nice little treatise is a reminder that we must ensure that the history of this game continues to get passed on from one generation to the next.”

Book Like a Bat Out of Hell

Download or read book Like a Bat Out of Hell written by Mick Wall and published by Trapeze. This book was released on 2017-11-16 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'A passionate, pacey tome you should do anything for a copy of' - Kerrang! **** "I never wanted to be a big star. I just wanted to be the biggest at what I do! Powerful, unstoppable, heavy - when that word still meant something good!" - Meat Loaf, as told to Mick Wall Everything in the story of Meat Loaf is big. From the place he was born (Texas); to the family he was born into (his father weighed 22 stone, his uncle weighed over 40 stone, while Meat Loaf himself weighed 17 stone before he was even in his teens); to the sound he made (a colossal collision between Richard Wagner, Phil Spector and Bruce Springsteen); and of course the records he sold - nearly 50 million in Britain and America alone. Now, on the eve of the 40th anniversary of Bat Out of Hell, the album that gave rise to Meat Loaf's astonishing career, and the premiere of Bat Out Of Hell: The Musical, Mick Wall, who has interviewed Meat Loaf on numerous occasions throughout his career, pulls back the curtains to reveal the soft-hearted soul behind the larger-than-life character he created for himself. From a tumultuous childhood with an alcoholic father to the relentless abusive bullying he endured, nobody could have predicted Meat Loaf's meteoric rise to fame. But when the messianic rock opera Bat Out of Hell was released in 1977, it became one of the biggest albums of all time, selling over 45 million copies worldwide to date. Its release marked the start of a rollercoaster ride of incredible highs and seemingly career-ending lows. By the 80s, Meat Loaf was battling with drug and alcohol addiction and escalating money problems that would eventually lead to a nervous breakdown. But just when it seemed like it was all over, the astonishing success of Bat Out of Hell II and the mega-hit 'I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)' marked an extraordinary new wave of success. Now, Mick Wall will bring this extraordinary story up to date, drawing on the hours he spent with Meat Loaf, both in interviews and on tour, as well as offering up a unique insight from those who have known him best.

Book Midlife Magic in Eden Valley Collection One

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This digital boxed set includes books in the Midlife Magic in Eden Valley series, more than 600 pages of paranormal romance, puns, gods, demons, angels, and supernatural mysteries. Match Made in Hell: Evelyn Addams is fresh off a divorce and ready to kick up her heels. A fling with the sexy-as-hell Luc Morgenstern fits the bill perfectly. Luc was supposed to be her rebound guy, nothing more than a second notch on her bedpost, but somewhere between the first night they met and the end of the summer, Evie did something she’d promised herself she wouldn’t do. She caught feelings. Raising a Demon: Being a single mother has its challenges, but Evie never imagined that “the talk” would involve Ouija boards and pentagrams. Evelyn Addams is forty-three and fabulous. She has a great kid, fantastic friends, and doesn’t need a man to complete her. But when she catches ten-year-old Lily summoning a demon to ask for birthday wishes—and the demon who turns up is Evie’s summer fling from eleven years ago—her comfortable life is shattered. Fall From Grace: One last, perfect summer—that’s what Grace Kane and her best friend Hope promised each other. Grace has just graduated from high school and wants nothing more than to get as far away from Eden Valley and her overbearing older sister as possible. But when Hope’s head is turned by a handsome man, Grace is left watching life from the sidelines as her perfect summer slips away. Enter Quinn, the hot as hell newcomer to Eden Valley who only has eyes for Grace. Devil and the Deep Blue Lake: Genevieve Kane is happy in Seattle and is in no way concerned about the demon brand that appeared last year nor the painful—and painfully accurate—premonitions that have plagued her ever since. And she definitely isn’t longing for Sam, the sexy demon with whom she’d had a fling on her last trip. But distance doesn’t stop the visions, and all signs point to Viv being the only one who can save Eden Valley from the insatiable hunger hiding in the lake’s icy depths.

Book Jack Mercer A Bowler of Magical Spells

Download or read book Jack Mercer A Bowler of Magical Spells written by Andrew Hignell and published by Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians. This book was released on 2011-05-01 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though he didn’t play regular first-class cricket until he was 31, Jack Mercer (1893-1987) took nearly 1,500 wickets in the county game, mostly bowling fast-medium for Glamorgan, where he gradually acquired all the variations of that craft. As a batsman he had two principal shots which he named ‘Cautious Caroline’ and ‘Saucy Sally’; the latter brought him a record-setting 31 runs off an eight-ball over in 1939. His involvement with county cricket extended from 1913 when his success with his village side, Southwick, attracted the attention of the Sussex club, through to 1983 when he kept the score book for Northamptonshire seconds. In between he led an astonishingly diverse life. He was in St Petersburg ‘smitten’ with a Russian ballerina when the First War broke out; his aptitude for her language took him to Bletchley Park in the Second. He was watching racing at Longchamps when told he was needed on an MCC tour to India; his white-gloved magician’s hands featured in early television advertisements. Andrew Hignell here relates the life of the one of the most genial and long-serving of county cricket’s practitioners, from the smithy to a Marylebone mews.
