Book A Basic Theory of Everything

Download or read book A Basic Theory of Everything written by Atle Ottesen Søvik and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-04-04 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the basic building blocks of the world? This book presents a naturalistic theory saying that the universe and everything in it can be reduced to three fundamental entities: a field, a set of values that can be actualized at different places in the field, and an actualizer of the values. The theory is defended by using it to answer the main questions in metaphysics, such as: What is causality, existence, laws of nature, consciousness, thinking, free will, time, mathematical entities, ethical values, etc.? The theory is compared with the main alternatives and argued to solve problems better than the existing theories. Several new theories are suggested, such as how to understand mental causation, free will and the truth of ethics and mathematics.

Book Basic Category Theory for Computer Scientists

Download or read book Basic Category Theory for Computer Scientists written by Benjamin C. Pierce and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1991-08-07 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic Category Theory for Computer Scientists provides a straightforward presentation of the basic constructions and terminology of category theory, including limits, functors, natural transformations, adjoints, and cartesian closed categories. Category theory is a branch of pure mathematics that is becoming an increasingly important tool in theoretical computer science, especially in programming language semantics, domain theory, and concurrency, where it is already a standard language of discourse. Assuming a minimum of mathematical preparation, Basic Category Theory for Computer Scientists provides a straightforward presentation of the basic constructions and terminology of category theory, including limits, functors, natural transformations, adjoints, and cartesian closed categories. Four case studies illustrate applications of category theory to programming language design, semantics, and the solution of recursive domain equations. A brief literature survey offers suggestions for further study in more advanced texts. Contents Tutorial • Applications • Further Reading

Book A Basic Theory of Neuropsychoanalysis

Download or read book A Basic Theory of Neuropsychoanalysis written by W.M. Bernstein and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-08 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces a theoretical framework for studying the mind. Specifically, an attempt is made to frame ideas from psychoanalysis and cognitive-social psychology so that they can be taken readily into a realm of neurobiology. Psychoanalytic Theory still represents a very comprehensive theory of the human mind. It includes cognitive, emotional and behavioral variables, plus the idea of unconscious mental operations. The 'pleasure principle and 'repetition compulsion' were Freud's most general concepts of mental functioning. These concepts are renovated to get them "on the same page" with ideas from social cognition and neurobiology.

Book Basic Concepts of String Theory

Download or read book Basic Concepts of String Theory written by Ralph Blumenhagen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-10-03 with total page 787 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this book is to thoroughly prepare the reader for research in string theory at an intermediate level. As such it is not a compendium of results but intended as textbook in the sense that most of the material is organized in a pedagogical and self-contained fashion. Beyond the basics, a number of more advanced topics are introduced, such as conformal field theory, superstrings and string dualities - the text does not cover applications to black hole physics and cosmology, nor strings theory at finite temperatures. End-of-chapter references have been added to guide the reader wishing to pursue further studies or to start research in well-defined topics covered by this book.

Book Understanding Basic Music Theory

Download or read book Understanding Basic Music Theory written by Catherine Schmidt-Jones and published by . This book was released on 2018-01-28 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of the book is to explore basic music theory so thoroughly that the interested student will then be able to easily pick up whatever further theory is wanted. Music history and the physics of sound are included to the extent that they shed light on music theory. The main premise of this course is that a better understanding of where the basics come from will lead to better and faster comprehension of more complex ideas. It also helps to remember, however, that music theory is a bit like grammar. Catherine Schmidt-Hones is a music teacher from Champaign, Illinois and she has been a pioneer in open education since 2004. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Illinois in the Open Online Education program with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction.

Book Basic Bundle Theory and K Cohomology Invariants

Download or read book Basic Bundle Theory and K Cohomology Invariants written by Dale Husemöller and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-12-10 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on several recent courses given to mathematical physics students, this volume is an introduction to bundle theory. It aims to provide newcomers to the field with solid foundations in topological K-theory. A fundamental theme, emphasized in the book, centers around the gluing of local bundle data related to bundles into a global object. One renewed motivation for studying this subject, comes from quantum field theory, where topological invariants play an important role.

Book Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Download or read book Basic Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine written by Hongcai Wang and published by Singing Dragon. This book was released on 2011-01-15 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Without a solid understanding of these fundamental theories, effective practice is impossible, and this book provides a complete introduction to everything that students and practitioners, both new and experienced, need to know. The book describes and explains all of the fundamental principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including yin/yang, the five elements, the 'zang and fu' organs, Zang Xiang, Qi, and the meridians and collaterals of the body. Explaining not only the principles upon which these elements work, but also how they interrelate, the book describes how they can be used in practice to identify, treat and prevent ill-health and disease. This thorough and accessible textbook, compiled by the China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center (CBIATC), under the editorial directorship of leading Chinese clinicians Zhu Bing and Wang Hongcai, is essential reading for students of traditional Chinese medicine, and is also a useful basic reference for TCM practitioners.
