In all 50 schools and 150 teachers were selected for the study. SPSS version 20.0 was the software used for the data analysis. The sampling technique that was used is stratified random sample. Frequency tables, t-test, pie charts, bar chats, mean and standard deviation were also used in presenting the data. The use of ICT has impacted to some extent on almost every facet of our daily activities. Students of today grow up with an array of technology, both at home and at school. Educators and governments have also devoted huge resources to the provision of technology in the learning environment. Despite the increase in ICT tools in Ghanaian basic schools, some teachers do not use them in their teaching.

Dlodlo and Sithole (2001), acknowledged that ICT is the fastest growing technology in this dispensation and that its influence pervade all spheres of human performance. Man’s activities have become more knowledge driven – using emerging Information Communication Technologies (ICTs) such as computers, internet, digital equipment, mobile phones, chat engines and many other digital and multimedia communication technologies as the driving force in this direction. In a practical illustration, Molosi (2001) observed that the internet used only four years to reach fifty million users, while Television took thirteen years to attain the same number of viewers. This goes to illustrate the speed at which technology is advancing. This trend has brought to the fore the need for integration of ICT in the education. Ghana in her 2007 New Education Reform (NER) made ICT a subject to be taught in school for the first time and became examinable in Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The success of the study of ICT in schools is linked the ability of Educational Administrators and Supervisors offer the technology based leadership. Consequently, supports Supervisors and Educational Administrators need to be equip with some level of ICT stills in order undertake any effective monitoring,. In effect, , if Educational administrators or supervisors lack the basic knowledge on ICTs or computers they may not be effective in accomplishing their duties. In the light of the above, it has become expedient for the Educational Administrators and Circuit Supervisors at the Metro Education Office, Takoradi in Ghana to be equipped with skills in the use Computers and their associated basic applications.

In view of this, using a descriptive research design, this study investigated social studies teachers' perception of technology integration, their use of technology as well as the impact of technology integration training on their instructional practice in the senior high schools of the Cape Coast Metropolis. Data were collected through the use of a questionnaire from a purposive sample of 50 social studies teachers who have completed some form of technology integration training whether formal or informal. Participants ranged in age from 21 to 60, and had an average of 11 years of teaching experience. Social studies teachers in this study generally had a positive perception towards technology integration and the unparallel importance it brings to bare in the social studies classroom. In describing this, different literatures were consulted on the meaning of TPACK, its origin and the way it can be integrated in pre-service science and mathematics teacher preparation. It was noted from literature that TPACK is the core of good teaching with technology, and that it's important for teachers to have an understanding of TPACK. Studies further show that the way pre-service teachers are taught to integrate technology, pedagogy and content is the same way they can implement the approach in their own teaching. In addition, studies argue for pre-service teachers to learn on how technology can help to enhance students learning in science and mathematics rather than learning how to teach technology. Different frameworks have been proposed on how to shift from teaching technology to using technology to enhance learning. For example some studies provide the curricular plans for developing pre-service teachers' competencies of integrating technology pedagogy and content. To enhance pre-service teachers' competency in technology integrations, some studies have reported the need for pre-service science and mathematics teachers to engage in the hands-on activities that reflect the real teaching with technology. Example of hands activities proposed in most studies includes planning of a lesson, presenting it to peers, getting critics from peers and re-planning it again.
