Book Basic Defense and Safety Fundamentals for Pool and Pocket Billiards

Download or read book Basic Defense and Safety Fundamentals for Pool and Pocket Billiards written by Allan P. Sand and published by Allan P. Sand. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two classes of pool players in the world. The serious shooter is dedicated to finding ways to gain better control how the cue ball rolls around the table. Most players enjoy pool because, well – it’s fun! This book is written for you guys. This is an introduction to the idea that defensive shooting is just as important as offensive shooting. Here is something to remember: there are no rules that require you to play stupid shots. When you have a table layout with a shot that is too tough, you really do not have to figure out some crazy way that the object ball MIGHT (maybe) get to a designated pocket. How about this as a simple solution? DON’T try to make the shot. Instead, shoot something that prevents your opponent from winning the game. If you do this, your opponent has a difficult situation. You can let him invent silly reasons to miss. You come back to the table with a good chance to win (or get closer to a win). Let him play all offense all the time. You play a few safeties and let him give you the opportunity to win. When this book falls into your hands, there is stuff you can use immediately. Besides the tips, there are techniques, exercises, and a few tricks that help you win more games. Yes, you can even use these to beat better shooters. Consider this book to be the digest version of the Safety Toolbox. A couple of hours of study, combined with some practice table time, and you are suddenly a tougher shooter. Let your opponents use the bar-banger style of calling fantastic hero shots, such as, “5 ball, four rails, off the 7 and into the side pocket.” This book will add some competitive maturity to your playing style. I don’t need to wish you good luck. This book and some of your time is all you need to begin winning more games. And here’s a useful benefit from the book – you don’t have to outshoot your opponent. Simply prevent him from winning.

Book Control the Cue Ball

Download or read book Control the Cue Ball written by Robin Kelly and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2020-03-27 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about Cue Ball Speed and Stroke Control in the game of Pool. In studying this area, I found a basis to create references for obtaining this control that anyone could learn. They were found through proper skill arrangement and stroke familiarities. These similarities became references to creating bridges of understanding between the individual Cue Ball Control skills. As you work with the material in this way, you’ll notice an improvement in your abilities because now your feel will be based on an understanding of the connections and core strokes, you’ve come to know. The player with the refined touch is always the player with the most chances to win. Some players develop a nice feel for Speed and Stroke on their own, but many don’t. Being under described to instruction means, it takes a lot of playing to develop these fine motor skills and many players have complete skills missing because they tend to play their favorite games. Each discipline or game requires the use of all the Cue Ball skills but in differing percentages. So, it’s possible to ignore the use of some skills that would make you an above average player in your favorite game. If you enjoy the game, why not play your best? Cue Ball Travel and Stroke Control are essential to a better game. In many ways Cue Ball skill is the most important one. The way I cover it, it would be hard not to get better Cue Ball Control just from the reading. You’ll be left with ideas that make sense, and they will lead you to a better ability to Control the Cue Ball. As you revisit the skills in practice your control will increase. Some of the skills are a challenge at first but as you wrap your mind around them your ability to perform them will rise. The techniques are easy to think about in games which is where the art takes place. As your control increases it blends with feel and touch, which is exactly what you should be able to achieve. Your feel will now have a stroke you understand to go with it. This makes Cue Ball movement more dependable and causes you to connect with it sooner, now that you have a memory in your mind for the stroke that helps you create muscle memory for your stroke. This book is my favorite of the Series. Pool is a game of shot making and touch. The feel with which you Control the Cue Ball when making a shot, is easily no less than 80% of the game. With your Speed and Spin better you’ll be tougher to beat. I cover techniques for both in this book also an Advanced Technique for reducing Cue Ball Travel Distance with Side Spin that is worth the price of the book.

Book Advanced Cue Ball Control Self Testing Program

Download or read book Advanced Cue Ball Control Self Testing Program written by Allan P. Sand and published by . This book was released on 2012-04-10 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After I wrote the popular "Cue Ball Control Cheat Sheets" book, a number of friends (serious players each and every one) contacted me about doing an advanced version - starting with tougher shots. These are players who are not interested in the majority of pool books and videos. For beginners and intermediate players, there are a lot of excellent instructional books and videos available. But, they were past that. For advanced players ("A" rated and above), there isn't much material worth studying. My friends really wanted something that was a significant challenge to their shooting and playing skills. This is that book. All layouts went through a testing period. At first, the successful cue ball speed and spin was going to be provided. This was voted down - the consensus was, any solid shooter should be able to figure out how to play the shot and successfully shoot it. Warning - there are some near impossible setups. At least three of them were so tough that only two of the testing shooters could consistently make both balls. So this is the challenge to all pool players - if you think you are an "A" or better player - you need to get this book and shoot these shots. You will need excellent pocketing skills with strong cue ball positioning abilities. For those shooters who are striving to reach that level of the game, this book is very useful. These layouts can help confirm that your skills are improving. Every couple of weeks, setup and shoot some of these shots. In between these scheduled self-testing periods, use the "Cue Ball Control Cheat Sheets" book to improve your cue ball management self-confidence. You will see recognizable improvements. Study this material in two steps. In the comfort of your favorite easy-chair, review each table layout and thoughtfully consider your options. How would you play the shot? What would be the minimum speed and spin to make the shot work? Are there multiple ways to make the shot work? In the printed book, use a pencil to draw your patterns. On an eReader, use the "notes" feature to enter your ideas. This book will help you get past the "fooling around" stage of your playing career and help you get serious about becoming a competitive player.
