Book Barre Exercises and Structure

Download or read book Barre Exercises and Structure written by Ken Ludden and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-02-16 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Barre Exercises and Structure is a book in the educational series by the Fonteyn Academy Press. It accompanies the Academy Method International Teacher Certificate training program, but is quite helpful to all instructors and students of dance. Each and every exercise in a classical dance class has a specific purpose. Knowing that purpose will help achieving the highest level of dancing possible for you. The Academy Method is taught at The Margot Fonteyn Academy of Ballet. It is based on the fundamental principles of movement as they apply to classical theatrical dancing. Carrying forward the teachings of Margaret Craske, and her students, this is what Dame Margot Fonteyn herself studied so long as she was dancing. Every single movement in classical dancing is derived from the steps practiced at the barre. This book explains that relationship, and gives dance students precise knowledge of what they are to do, why they do it, how it will help their dancing, and exactly what is required of them.

Book Hencky Bar chain net For Structural Analysis

Download or read book Hencky Bar chain net For Structural Analysis written by Chien Ming Wang and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-04-30 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an emerging discrete structural model, the Hencky bar-chain/net model (HBM) has shown its advantages over other numerical methods in some problems. Owing to the discrete properties of HBM, it is also a suitable model for nano-scale structures which are currently a very hot research topic in mechanics. This book introduces the concepts and previous research of the Hencky bar-chain/net model, before demonstrating how beams, columns, arches, rectangular plates and circular plates could be successfully modelled by HBM. HBM comprises rigid bars connected by frictionless hinges with elastic rotational springs (and a system of torsional springs in the cells for plates). In the treatment of the above-mentioned structures, HBM is found to be mathematically equivalent to the first order central finite difference method (FDM). So HBM may be regarded as the physical structural model behind the FDM.This book is a compilation of the authors' research on the development of the Hencky bar-chain/net model, and is organized according to the development and application of HBM for beams, columns, frames, arches and rings, and plates. Exercises are provided at the end of each chapter to aid comprehension and guide learning. It is a useful reference for students, researchers, academics and practitioners in the field of structural analysis.

  • Pages : 324 pages

Download or read book Raise the Barre written by Richard Giorla and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2009-10-06 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive guide to the hottest new fitness program in the country-Cardio Barre-a dance-based workout that combines cardio, strength training and stretching, in one fast-paced, fat-burning, body-lengthening session. With a full nutrition program as well, you'll see life-changing results in only eight weeks. While yoga, pilates, aerobics and weightlifting are all successful, popular fitness routines, each one of them is missing something that the others offer. And with our hectic lives that leave little time for sleep, let alone hours of daily exercise, the Cardio Barre workout is the perfect combination of cardio, strength training and stretching—achieving multiple desired results from one fast-paced workout. Richard Giorla is a classically trained dancer who has learned from his decades of training that the key to strength and endurance is developing core muscle—the center of the body must be strong in order to support the other areas of the body. In Cardio Barre, you work from your core—maintaining your balance using a barre, a countertop, a chair, or even your own strength—then repeat low-resistance motions such as plies, arm extensions, and leg flexes. With no kicking, jumping, or punching, this effective and complete workout leaves participants with long, lean muscles, flexibility, and endurance. With the success of the Cardio Barre workout in LA, where it has gained celebrity adherents and a long waiting list of others, as well as the recent launch of Cardio Barre in New York, this is poised to become the new "it" workout. And unlike past fitness fads, Cardio Barre sets realistic goals, including following a healthy eating program, and offers the desired results of both cardio health and strength in only eight weeks.

Book Structures A Geometric Approach

Download or read book Structures A Geometric Approach written by Edmond Saliklis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-07 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Graphic methods for structural design essentially translate problems of algebra into geometric representations, allowing solutions to be reached using geometric construction (ie: drawing pictures) instead of tedious and error-prone arithmetic. This was the common method before the invention of calculators and computers, but had been largely abandoned in the last half century in favor of numerical techniques. However, in recent years the convenience and ease of graphic statics has made a comeback in architecture and engineering. Several professors have begun using graphic statics in the classroom.and.studio environment. But until now, there had been no guidebook that rapidly brings students up to speed on the fundamentals of how to create graphical solutions to statics problems.Graphic Statics introduces all of the traditional graphic statics techniques in a parametric drawing format, using the free program GeoGebra. Then, advanced topics such as indeterminate beams and three dimensional curved surfaces are be covered. Along the way, links to wider design ideas are introduced in a succinct summary of the steps needed to create elegant solutions to many staticequilibrium problems.Meant for students in civil and architectural engineering, architecture, and construction, this practical introduction will also be useful to professionals looking to add the power of graphic statics to their work.

Book Understanding Sentence Structure

Download or read book Understanding Sentence Structure written by Christina Tortora and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-09-19 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A straightforward guide to understanding English grammar This book is for people who have never thought about syntax, and who don't know anything about grammar, but who want to learn. Assuming a blank slate on the part of the reader, the book treats English grammar as a product of the speaker's mind, and builds up student skills by exploring phrases and sentences with more and more complexity, as the chapters proceed. This practical guide excites and empowers readers by guiding them step by step through each chapter with intermittent exercises. In order to capitalize on the reader's confidence as a personal authority on English, Understanding Sentence Structure assumes an inclusive definition of English, taking dialect variation and structures common amongst millions of English speakers to be a fact of natural language. Situates grammar as part of what the student already unconsciously knows Presupposes no prior instruction, not even in prescriptive grammar Begins analyzing sentences immediately, with the “big picture” (sentences have structure, structure can be ambiguous) and moves through levels of complexity, tapping into students’ tacit knowledge of sentence structure Includes exercise boxes for in-chapter practicing of skills, side notes that offer further tips/encouragement on topics being discussed, and new terms defined immediately and helpfully in term boxes Applies decades of findings in syntactic theory and cognitive science, with an eye towards making English grammar accessible to school teachers and beginning students alike Understanding Sentence Structure: An Introduction to English Syntax is an ideal book for undergraduates studying modern English grammar and for instructors teaching introductory courses in English grammar, syntax, and sentence structure.

Book Elements of Structural Optimization

Download or read book Elements of Structural Optimization written by Raphael T. Haftka and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of structural optimization is still a relatively new field undergoing rapid changes in methods and focus. Until recently there was a severe imbalance between the enormous amount of literature on the subject, and the paucity of applications to practical design problems. This imbalance is being gradually redressed now. There is still no shortage of new publications, but there are also exciting applications of the methods of structural optimizations in the automotive, aerospace, civil engineering, machine design and other engineering fields. As a result of the growing pace of applications, research into structural optimization methods is increasingly driven by real-life problems. Most engineers who design structures employ complex general-purpose software packages for structural analysis. Often they do not have any access to the source the details of program, and even more frequently they have only scant knowledge of the structural analysis algorithms used in this software packages. Therefore the major challenge faced by researchers in structural optimization is to develop methods that are suitable for use with such software packages. Another major challenge is the high computational cost associated with the analysis of many complex real-life problems. In many cases the engineer who has the task of designing a structure cannot afford to analyze it more than a handful of times.

Book Structural Dynamics

Download or read book Structural Dynamics written by Madhujit Mukhopadhyay and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-15 with total page 628 pages.
