  • Pages : 1506 pages

Download or read book United States Code written by United States and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 1506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.

Download or read book The Bankruptcy Guide written by Royta Cahal and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-01-21 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: You have most likely heard about at least one individual who has filed for bankruptcy once (or twice) in his/her lifetime. It may have been a relative, coworker, family friend, or even a celebrity. At the time of hearing about this individual's bankruptcy, you may have wondered to yourself how he/she could have managed money so poorly that bankruptcy protection became his/her only way out of debt. You probably even told yourself that you would never be that person seeking debt counseling, or worse, filing for bankruptcy. THEN IT HAPPENED. There are car payments, mortgages, student loans, credit card payments and medical bills to be paid. Debt collectors are constantly calling you at work and at home. You're living from paycheck-to-paycheck, and everyday it's becoming harder to provide your family with the basic necessities. And so, you begin to think about how you can benefit from filing for bankruptcy, but you are scared out of your mind. You are scared not only about the process, but also scared of what others will think if and when they find out that you have filed for bankruptcy. Quite a number of persons are ashamed of the fact that because of their exceedingly great debt, they will have to be covered by bankruptcy protection. To them, it's as if they have to walk around for the remainder of their lives with a sign fastened around their necks that reads, "I have filed for bankruptcy." For these individuals, the shame that they feel doesn't go away quickly enough, particularly when there are financial maniacs who constantly criticize persons for going bankrupt. These financial maniacs believe that if individuals would just pay their bills and pay them on time, then bankruptcy wouldn't be an option. But that's where they are wrong. In spite of common bankruptcy misconceptions that exist today, persons are really and truly applying for bankruptcy protection for reasons that are beyond their control. As such, there is no need to feel ashamed about the legitimate business decision that you have to make to get your life back on track. Truth be told, these misconceptions exist primarily because people are ignorant about all things related to bankruptcy. When in high school or college lessons popped up now and then about how to land a good job in order to earn a lot, or putting aside money for that rainy day. But were you ever taught about what bankruptcy is; what you'll have to do in order to file; how long the process takes; the good and the bad of filing; or what life is like after bankruptcy? The answer is most likely "NO." You were never given the opportunity to enroll in the course "Bankruptcy 101." That is why you'll find this eBook very handy. Not only will you learn about the basics of filing for bankruptcy, but you'll also be given tips on what to do to survive a bankruptcy; including how to avoid debt, rebuild your credit and manage your finances effectively. Class is in session. The course today is entitled "The Ultimate Guide to Bankruptcy." Please ensure that you keep an open mind about this topic and are willing to learn. Now...let us begin!
