Book Algebraic Methods in Operator Theory

Download or read book Algebraic Methods in Operator Theory written by Raul E. Curto and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory of operators stands at the intersection of the frontiers of modern analysis and its classical counterparts; of algebra and quantum mechanics; of spectral theory and partial differential equations; of the modern global approach to topology and geometry; of representation theory and harmonic analysis; and of dynamical systems and mathematical physics. The present collection of papers represents contributions to a conference, and they have been carefully selected with a view to bridging different but related areas of mathematics which have only recently displayed an unexpected network of interconnections, as well as new and exciting cross-fertilizations. Our unify ing theme is the algebraic view and approach to the study of operators and their applications. The complementarity between the diversity of topics on the one hand and the unity of ideas on the other has been stressed. Some of the longer contributions represent material from lectures (in expanded form and with proofs for the most part). However, the shorter papers, as well as the longer ones, are an integral part of the picture; they have all been carefully refereed and revised with a view to a unity of purpose, timeliness, readability, and broad appeal. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes a first- or second-year graduate course in operator theory. It is a field that has great importance for other areas of mathematics and physics, such as algebraic topology, differential geometry, and quantum mechanics. It assumes a basic knowledge in functional analysis but no prior acquaintance with operator theory is required.

Book Handbook of Analytic Operator Theory

Download or read book Handbook of Analytic Operator Theory written by Kehe Zhu and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-05-10 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Analytic Operator Theory thoroughly covers the subject of holomorphic function spaces and operators acting on them. The spaces covered include Bergman spaces, Hardy spaces, Fock spaces and the Drury-Averson space. Operators discussed in the book include Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, composition operators, and Cowen-Douglas class operators. The volume consists of eleven articles in the general area of analytic function spaces and operators on them. Each contributor focuses on one particular topic, for example, operator theory on the Drury-Aversson space, and presents the material in the form of a survey paper which contains all the major results in the area and includes all relevant references. The overalp between this volume and existing books in the area is minimal. The material on two-variable weighted shifts by Curto, the Drury-Averson space by Fang and Xia, the Cowen-Douglas class by Misra, and operator theory on the bi-disk by Yang has never appeared in book form before. Features: The editor of the handbook is a widely known and published researcher on this topic The handbook's contributors are a who's=who of top researchers in the area The first contributed volume on these diverse topics

Book Spectral Theory of Linear Operators and Spectral Systems in Banach Algebras

Download or read book Spectral Theory of Linear Operators and Spectral Systems in Banach Algebras written by Vladimir Müller and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is dedicated to the spectral theory of linear operators on Banach spaces and of elements in Banach algebras. It presents a survey of results concerning various types of spectra, both of single and n-tuples of elements. Typical examples are the one-sided spectra, the approximate point, essential, local and Taylor spectrum, and their variants. Many results appear here for the first time in a monograph.

Book Matrix Functions of Bounded Type An Interplay Between Function Theory and Operator Theory

Download or read book Matrix Functions of Bounded Type An Interplay Between Function Theory and Operator Theory written by Raúl E. Curto and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2019-09-05 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, the authors study matrix functions of bounded type from the viewpoint of describing an interplay between function theory and operator theory. They first establish a criterion on the coprime-ness of two singular inner functions and obtain several properties of the Douglas-Shapiro-Shields factorizations of matrix functions of bounded type. They propose a new notion of tensored-scalar singularity, and then answer questions on Hankel operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols. They also examine an interpolation problem related to a certain functional equation on matrix functions of bounded type; this can be seen as an extension of the classical Hermite-Fejér Interpolation Problem for matrix rational functions. The authors then extend the H∞-functional calculus to an H∞¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯+H∞-functional calculus for the compressions of the shift. Next, the authors consider the subnormality of Toeplitz operators with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and, in particular, the matrix-valued version of Halmos's Problem 5 and then establish a matrix-valued version of Abrahamse's Theorem. They also solve a subnormal Toeplitz completion problem of 2×2 partial block Toeplitz matrices. Further, they establish a characterization of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs with matrix-valued bounded type symbols and then derive rank formulae for the self-commutators of hyponormal Toeplitz pairs.

Book Multivariable Operator Theory

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a collection of papers presented at a conference on multivariable operator theory. The articles contain contributions to a variety of areas and topics which may be viewed as forming an emerging new subject. This subject involves the study of geometric rather than topological invariants associated with the general theme of operator theory in several variables. This collection will spur further discussion among the different research groups.
