Book Copenhagen and Stockholm

  • Author : Lew Deitch
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2018-04-16
  • ISBN : 9781980843603
  • Pages : 174 pages

Download or read book Copenhagen and Stockholm written by Lew Deitch and published by . This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Man people who take a Baltic Sea cruise often have limited time and unfortunately arrive directly in time to board the ship or depart for home or another destination after debarking. But others allow time to visit Copenhagen and/or Stockholm before or after their cruise. This book is designed to introduce both Copenhagen and Stockholm as the vibrant and historic cities that they are in hopes of encouraging as many travelers as possible to plan on spending a couple of days in one or the other or both cities as part of their Baltic Sea voyage. And for those travelers who are not cruising, this book is a perfect guide to both of these Scandinavian capital cities. It is not, however, a thick all inclusive guide book that will spoon feed every last detain, And it does not contain hundreds of hotel and restaurant listings in all grades down to the economy level. I like to claim that my books are aimed at the traveler who enjoys four and five-star accommodation and dining. And when it comes to what to see and do, I attempt to present the most important venues, not necessarily the ones that the travel brochures tout as being the most popular. I want my readers to become familiar with the places they visit. It is one thing to be a tourist and another to be a traveler. My guides are concise and filled with the kinds of details that will make you a real traveler - one who comes to know the place being visited. I do have an identical version of this book published in black and white at a lower cost. But this edition is done on glossy paper and in full colour to help bring the cities of Copenhagen and Stockholm to life. I have visited each city over 20 times and have explored every corner, including local neighborhoods to be able to speak with authority. So I hope you will enjoy my book on Copenhagen and Stockholm, two of my favourite Scandinavian cities.

Book Cruising the Baltic Sea

    Book Details:
  • Author : Lew Deitch
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2017-04-30
  • ISBN : 9781521180723
  • Pages : 296 pages

Download or read book Cruising the Baltic Sea written by Lew Deitch and published by . This book was released on 2017-04-30 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the success of my first Baltic Sea book, I have taken the material and greatly expanded it, adding more detail, restaurant and shopping recommendations and new photographs. The Baltic Sea is one of the most popular regions in Europe for those who want to cruise. There are seven to 10-day cruises offered that include such memorable cities as Copenhagen, Tallinn, Helsinki and Stockholm. And the crown jewel of any Baltic Sea cruise is Saint Petersburg, the grand imperial capital of Russia. Normally the weather is cool, yet bright. And the days during summer are long, what the Russians call the "White Nights." If you have ever wanted to learn about this region and what it offers, this is the book to purchase. It is NOT a detailed guide that offers individualized walking tours or presents dozens of hotel and restaurant listings. I have included my favorite restaurants and shopping venues, but the focus of the book is to describe the landscape, discuss the relevant history and give you tips as to how to maximize your days in port. Remember that when you cruise, you have a limited amount of time in each port. So it is best to become familiar with where you are going before you get there. Not all cruise lines offer a comprehensive lecture program that will provide you with such valuable information. I have been lecturing for Silversea Cruises for ten years and I have made 42 tours through the Baltic Sea. Combined with my 46 years as a geography professor, I believe I am in a good position to present you with a valid picture of what you will find in the Baltic Sea.
