  • Author : Wolfgang Knoll
  • Publisher : J. Ross Publishing
  • Release : 2007-12-15
  • ISBN : 9781932159967
  • Pages : 152 pages

Download or read book Architectural Models written by Wolfgang Knoll and published by J. Ross Publishing. This book was released on 2007-12-15 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Architects' models serve as bridge between an idea and its realization. Models are one of the three means by which an architect invents and develops his design: sketch–model–computer model. No other representational form is as effective in enabling the viewer to perceive the spaces, shapes, surfaces and textures created by the architect's design — it is therefore a prerequisite in the design process. Architectural Models provides clear and comprehensible instruction explaining how design ideas can be skillfully translated into models. Some 200 black and white illustrations and, new to this edition, more than 40 extraordinary, full color photographs, provide a comprehensive visual explication of the text. In this completely revised edition, the authors convey practical basics and offer a wealth of innovative and valuable suggestions for students of architecture or graphic arts, as well as for experienced architectural model makers.

Book Hey Mister Will It Fly

Download or read book Hey Mister Will It Fly written by Robert Benjamin and published by Helm Publishing (IL). This book was released on 2011-01 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pick up any U.S. model magazine today and the chances are very good that Bob has written over thirty articles featuring original designs or gas-to-electric conversions of popular kits, and many more including product reviews, event reports and how-to info. Bob wrote and directed the video program All Because Of Model Airplanes which has been used for years as the signature presentation at the National Aeromodeling Museum in Muncie, Indiana, as well as the instructional series Getting Started In Electric Flight and several other specialized titles produced for the AMA. He is also the artist behind that long series of aircraft paintings that appeared on the covers of Model Builder and Model Aviation magazines during the '80's and '90's. In 1990 Bob began his career as a dedicated RC Scale competitor as one of a tiny handful of model builders who pioneered the use of electric power head-to-head with traditional engine powered models. Since then he has managed to become the first modeler ever to compete using electric power at the U.S. Scale Masters, at TOP GUN, and in 2002 as a member of Team USA at the World F4C (RC Scale) Championships in Toronto, Canada. There has never been an electric category at any of those events. In 2006 he was inducted into the Model Aviation Hall of Fame. It was not always like that. Bob Benjamin's life with model airplanes goes back to the late 1940's. He has had his fair share of experience as the little boy hanging over the flying field fence and as the kid who scratched and saved for months to put a McCoy 35 on a Ringmaster. From classic stick-and-tissue rubber jobs to RC scale electric ducted fan jets, He knows what it feels like to fly a model by sheer force of will on a second-hand, third-rate radio and he knows what it feels like to have the very best RC systems in the world for the asking as a factory sponsored master modeler. The only thing Bob Benjamin never learned was how to give up. Hey Mister, Will It Fly? is his personal flight of perseverance, dedication, and passion to the world of model aeroplanes.

Book Wood aeromodelling

Download or read book Wood aeromodelling written by Franz Kayser and published by Verlag für Technik und Handwerk. This book was released on with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is fascinating when it smells of wood and glue and a new flying model gradually emerges on the building board. In the process, you learn a lot about wood as a building material, about building techniques and, incidentally, about construction methods. So that the whole thing doesn't get bogged down in theory, the material and construction techniques are used in this book on a real flying model, to which the author has given the name "WOODY", which means "the wooden one". Without a lot of mathematics and formulas, Franz Kayser explains the various construction principles applied, based on his experience with wood as a building material. From the content: • Small wood encyclopaedia • Weight and strength • Material strength and breaking moment • Quarter and other grains • Effects of grain direction • EWD – the setting angle difference • Centre of gravity position and stall • Auxiliary construction of the slipway • Planking and edge curves • Wing stitching • Servo installation in the wing • The right tailplane • Building a tailplane • A suitable fuselage • The cowl • Hinges for the WOODY • Landing gear construction • Self-built canopy • Building and flying • Extensive appendix
