He is considered by many to be the father of modern science because of his advocacy of empiricism, or experimental confirmation. A famous Rosicrucian, he is considered by many to be the secret author of the works of William Shakespeare. Many indicators suggest this possibility. It is an idea worth considering since the works attributed to Shakespeare contain cryptograms that suggest Bacon as the author.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Coincidences; Bacon and Shakespeare Prince of Burgundy, I pray you, I supplicate and entreat you, as humbly as I am able to do, to make no further war upon the kingdom of France; withdraw at once all your forces from the towns and fortresses you are occupying in the kingdom. The noble king of France is ready to make peace with you, on any terms consistent with his honor; you will find no difficulty with him. I warn you, however, in the name of God in heaven, my right ful and sovereign Lord, and for the sake of your own well-being and honor, that you can win no battle against the loyal people of France; and that all those who war against the said kingdom of France, war against Jesus, the King, the King of heaven, and of all the world, my rightful and sovereign Lord. I pray you and beseech you with clasped hands not to do battle or fight against us, neither you, nor your family, nor your subjects. Be assured that however large an army you may bring against us, you will gain no victory over me; it will be a pity to fight a great battle and shed the blood of those who come against us. Book The Columbus of Literature

Download or read book The Columbus of Literature written by William Francis C. Wigston and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-06 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Columbus of Literature: Or Bacon's New World of Sciences This work follows close upon the heels of Mrs. Henry Pott's re markable work, Francis Bacon and His Secret Society. I venture to cherish the hope, some of the chapters in this work of mine, may throw further light upon her theories, and prove a humble corollary to her book. The arrangement of my chapters, it must be confessed, are somewhat erratic, but not without design and method. The first chapter is intended to point out the fact, that there are Rosicrucian affinities and parallels in The Tempest, showing the author of the plays was well acquainted with the Utopian literature, which finds its reflection in the New Atlantis. In the fact, Bacon corresponded with the martyr, Father Fulgentio, we obtain a powerful hint as to his sympathies with the Reformation, and a proof he was secretly in communication with a wide move ment abroad, which could at that period only be furthered by means of a secret society or brotherhood. I am in hopes my notes upon the water-marks in some of Bacon's works may throw a further light upon Mrs. Pott's plates in her learned work. Book Shakespeare Bacon Classic Reprint

Download or read book Shakespeare Bacon Classic Reprint written by Mrs. D. C. Dodge and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shakespeare Bacon Mrs. Gallup's book, Francis Bacon's Biliteral Cipher cannot fail to interest anyone. She and her sister, Miss Kate Wells, are now living in Geneva, Ill., and Colonel Fabyan, a wealthy gentleman, is assisting them in every way to go on with their work, and will publish whatever they decipher. I know of no one who has made any money out of Baconian research or writing. Several wealthy men, like Sir Edwin durning-lawrence have been willing to use their fortunes, either in publishing their own books and present ing them to libraries and interested people, as Sir Edwin did, or have paid for the publication of the works of talent ed and industrious people, who lacked money to publish their own writings. Mr. Dawbarn, the author of Uncrowned, says: Had Mrs. Gallup invented her story, she would surely have written of the Actor Shakes pere; then her book would have been in every library in the world and she would have had not only honor and re nown, but wealth. As it is, having told the truth as she found it, she has been ridiculed, is unknown except to a few, and has little of this world's goods. I visited Mrs. Gallup about two years ago. She was living very modestly, spoke almost reverently of the Great Philosopher, showed me how she did her work, and was so earnest and unassuming about it that I could not then, and cannot now, doubt its genuineness. Book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint written by Albert Frederick Calvert and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-04 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon and Shakespeare The conclusions I have formed with respect to the two cipher revelations which are now agitating the minds of both Shakespeareans and Baconians are derived partly from my estimate of the character of Bacon, partly from the apparent sincerity of Mrs. Gallup, and partly again from what I know of other and entirely independent decipherations of further Bacon messages, which are now being actively made in this country. Of Mrs. Gallup I only know that which her book and her publishers reveal. Of Dr. Orville W. Owen, the discoverer of the word-cipher I learn, front an American source, quoted by way of a testimonial in one of the doctor's books, that he is a man who has reached middle age, and who has never shown the slightest sign of possessing unusual or extraordinary literary skill, or genius. In other words, his sponsors assure us that he is incapable of writing those portions of Shakespeare which form so great a part of his decipherations, or even the connecting passages which appear to have been contributed by Bacon. We must accept this opinion as a tribute of personal character. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Tragedy of Sir Francis Bacon: An Appeal for Further Investigation and Research NO permanent or abiding praétical results have yet been attributed to the credit of the Rosicrucians. Their teaching and philosophy are admitted to have tinged and influenced current European literature, but be yond this their career is generally considered to have been as evanescent as that of a meteor. I shall endeavour to show the fallacy of this idea. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Francis Bacon s Signatures

Download or read book Francis Bacon s Signatures written by C. M. P. and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Francis Bacon's Signatures: In the Shakespeare Plays The object with which the following pages are written is to endeavour to gain help in verifying and elucidating certain anagrams, and the records which seem to be afforded by their means, at the end of each of the Shakespeare plays in the folio of 1693. Learned men seem to be deterred from pursuing this investigation by a notion that the whole thing is vain and purposeless. They think it inconceivable that the Sage of Verulam, or his friends, should have wasted time and money in contriving and printing mere puzzles, con taining information known to those who had the key to such ciphers, and therefore, to the initiated, useless; but information, inscrutable to the uninitiated, and therefore to them also useless. Such arguments, though plausible, ignore the point upon which the whole question of ciphers turns. The very idea of secret writing includes, and draws after it, the idea of writers and readers, as well as printers of that secret writing. This idea involves a theory or belief in the existence of a secret society, and it will readily be believed that a great expense of time, money, and trouble would not have been incurred, excepting on behalf of a very large number of initiated readers, members of a fraternity bound to hand down the knowledge and traditions (perhaps verbally) received. This paper makes no attempt even to sketch the history and methods of that secret society of which we believe Francis Bacon to have been the centre and moving spirit, if not the true founder; but it may be said, in passing, that the same books and scraps of evidence which hint at these particulars - now and then lifting the curtain to give us a glimpse of the concealed man, the concealed poet, magician, or Proteus, whom we believe him to be - tell us, even more plainly, that the mystery should not endure for ever. There seems to be but little doubt that Francis Bacon planned and desired that the revelation should take place at the end of an age - 100 years; then the veil should be withdrawn, and from behind his curtain the great poet-philosopher should pace forth and be known as himself.
