Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Coincidences; Bacon and Shakespeare Prince of Burgundy, I pray you, I supplicate and entreat you, as humbly as I am able to do, to make no further war upon the kingdom of France; withdraw at once all your forces from the towns and fortresses you are occupying in the kingdom. The noble king of France is ready to make peace with you, on any terms consistent with his honor; you will find no difficulty with him. I warn you, however, in the name of God in heaven, my right ful and sovereign Lord, and for the sake of your own well-being and honor, that you can win no battle against the loyal people of France; and that all those who war against the said kingdom of France, war against Jesus, the King, the King of heaven, and of all the world, my rightful and sovereign Lord. I pray you and beseech you with clasped hands not to do battle or fight against us, neither you, nor your family, nor your subjects. Be assured that however large an army you may bring against us, you will gain no victory over me; it will be a pity to fight a great battle and shed the blood of those who come against us. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon and Shake-Speare Parallelisms My second bears the title 'francis Bacon, Our Shake speare' This deals With internal criticism, and shows the philosophic purpose for which the Plays were written. For this effort to assign to the great author of the Shake-speare dramas - dramas imbedded in the love and reverence of mankind - a motive higher than one merely mercenary, I venture to ask a candid, if not sym pathetic hearing. Book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bacon and Shakespeare Classic Reprint written by Albert Frederick Calvert and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-04 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon and Shakespeare The conclusions I have formed with respect to the two cipher revelations which are now agitating the minds of both Shakespeareans and Baconians are derived partly from my estimate of the character of Bacon, partly from the apparent sincerity of Mrs. Gallup, and partly again from what I know of other and entirely independent decipherations of further Bacon messages, which are now being actively made in this country. Of Mrs. Gallup I only know that which her book and her publishers reveal. Of Dr. Orville W. Owen, the discoverer of the word-cipher I learn, front an American source, quoted by way of a testimonial in one of the doctor's books, that he is a man who has reached middle age, and who has never shown the slightest sign of possessing unusual or extraordinary literary skill, or genius. In other words, his sponsors assure us that he is incapable of writing those portions of Shakespeare which form so great a part of his decipherations, or even the connecting passages which appear to have been contributed by Bacon. We must accept this opinion as a tribute of personal character. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shakespeare, Bacon and the Great Unknown IT is with some hesitation that I give my husband's last book to the world. It was in type when he died, but he had no time to correct even the first proofs, and doubtless he would have made many changes, if not in his views at least in his expression of them. Mr. Bartram has verified the quotations and dates with infinite care, and for this he has my warmest thanks. For the rest I can but ask those who differ from the author to re member the circumstances in which the work has been published. L. B. L. Book Bacon Is Not Shakespeare Classic Reprint

Download or read book Bacon Is Not Shakespeare Classic Reprint written by Ralph Winnington Leftwich and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bacon Is Not Shakespeare The theory that Bacon wrote the plays commonly attributed to Shakespeare began, not during the lifetime of those who would have detected an imposture, his contemporaries, but in 1848, and one of the originators died in a madhouse. The idea made but little progress and, amongst literary men, practically none. Personally, I have never troubled to read the arguments; for ciphers do not appeal to me. I have heard of a Shakespearean cipher which proved that the plays were written by Bernard Shaw, and of another which fathered them upon Rudyard Kipling! Sir Edward Burning-Lawrence's book "Bacon is Shakepeare!" appeared in 1910 and as far as I remember was not taken very seriously by the reviewers. But having recently come across it, and finding that the author boasts of having sent a copy of his misleading work to every public library in the world, I realise that something must be done. Many will read it in these institutions who know nothing of the arguments which refute it and their judgment may be warped for life. Failing stronger pens than mine, I hope this little work will do something to mitigate the mischief. Since the publication of the book. Sir Edwin has sent to school teachers and others a copy of a pamphlet The Shakespeare Myth. As this often gives only the conclusions and not the fallacious reasons upon which those conclusions are based, its effects may be serious. In a note accompanying it, he says Now that it has been proved that William Shakespeare was unable to write so much as his own name, people should no longer profess to believe that the Immortal Plays were written by the illiterate householder of Stratford, neither of whose daughters could read or write, and in whose house not a single book was found. Some of the criticism in the text is directed against statements made in the pamphlet, for Sir Edwin honoured me with a copy and I hope I have made good use of it. My data are taken from many sources; hut chiefly from Sir Sidney's Lee's "Life of Shakespeare." About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Is There Any Resemblance: Between Shakespeare Bacon? The endeavour has been to present such points as appeal to reason and common sense, though they have not been elaborated to the breadth that might be given them; the facts in themselves are convincing to un partisan judgment, and need very little in the shape of argument to emphasize their force. Book Shakespeare Bacon Classic Reprint

Download or read book Shakespeare Bacon Classic Reprint written by Mrs. D. C. Dodge and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-07 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shakespeare Bacon Mrs. Gallup's book, Francis Bacon's Biliteral Cipher cannot fail to interest anyone. She and her sister, Miss Kate Wells, are now living in Geneva, Ill., and Colonel Fabyan, a wealthy gentleman, is assisting them in every way to go on with their work, and will publish whatever they decipher. I know of no one who has made any money out of Baconian research or writing. Several wealthy men, like Sir Edwin durning-lawrence have been willing to use their fortunes, either in publishing their own books and present ing them to libraries and interested people, as Sir Edwin did, or have paid for the publication of the works of talent ed and industrious people, who lacked money to publish their own writings. Mr. Dawbarn, the author of Uncrowned, says: Had Mrs. Gallup invented her story, she would surely have written of the Actor Shakes pere; then her book would have been in every library in the world and she would have had not only honor and re nown, but wealth. As it is, having told the truth as she found it, she has been ridiculed, is unknown except to a few, and has little of this world's goods. I visited Mrs. Gallup about two years ago. She was living very modestly, spoke almost reverently of the Great Philosopher, showed me how she did her work, and was so earnest and unassuming about it that I could not then, and cannot now, doubt its genuineness. Book excerpt: Shakespeare, Bacon and the Great Unknown Andrew Lang The theory that Francis Bacon was, in the main, the author of "Shakespeare's plays," has now been for fifty years before the learned world. Its advocates have met with less support than they had reason to expect.Their methods, their logic, and their hypotheses closely resemble those applied by many British and foreign scholars to Homer; and by critics of the very Highest School to Holy Writ.Yet the Baconian theory is universally rejected in England by the professors...
