Download or read book Frontier Orbitals written by Nguyen Trong Anh and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-05-29 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by one of the pioneers of the field, Frontier Orbitals is an essential practical guide to the successes and limitations of this theory. Applications are classified by chemical criteria: competition between reagents, sites or reaction trajectories. The steps involved in solving each problem, such as the choice of model, the calculation of molecular orbitals, and the interpretation of results, are explained. Numerous exercises are found throughout the text, and the full solution and references are given in each case. An extensive listing of MO's is also given to allow those without access to a computer to work out the exercises. Practical advice is given for those wishing to do their own calculations. Frontier Orbitals is aimed at experimentalists who are well versed in organic chemistry but have little or no understanding of quantum mechanics. A greater emphasis is put on chemistry than on quantum mechanics, and the intelligent use of the rules rather than their mathematical derivation.

Book Combining C C Bonds

Download or read book Combining C C Bonds written by L.A. Paquette and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1992-09-08 with total page 1360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The guiding principle underlying the subject matter specifically compiled in Volume 5 has been to make available to the organic chemical community a sourcebook comprehensively covering all the important &pgr;-bond-dependent transformations. Thermal, photochemical, and metal-catalyzed cycloadditions of every major type are expertly detailed by the most knowledgeable researchers in these areas. The synthetically useful electrocyclic and sigmatropic processes where alkenic centers are intimately involved in the structural change are similarly canvassed in compact detail. With added attention given to ene reactions, small-ring rearrangements, and related transition metal-associated reactions, coverage has been achieved of the full range of organic transformations directly involving the rebonding of alkenic centers. As a consequence, this volume should serve as the comprehensive sourcebook of the field for the next decade and beyond.

Book Handbook of Heterocyclic Chemistry

Download or read book Handbook of Heterocyclic Chemistry written by Alan R. Katritzky and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2010-08-24 with total page 1011 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Heterocyclic compounds play a vital role in the metabolism of living cells. Their practical applications range from extensive clinical use to fields as diverse as agriculture, photography, biocide formulation and polymer science. Written by leading scholars and industry experts, the Handbook of Heterocyclic Chemistry is thoroughly updated with over 50% new content. It has been rewritten with a new expanded author team, who have carefully distilled essential information on the reactivity, structure and synthesis of heterocycles from the 2008 major reference work Comprehensive Heterocyclic Chemistry III. To bring the work up to date the author team have also added new synthetic examples and structures, key applications and new references from 2008-2010. Contains more than 1500 clearly drawn structures and reactions. The highly systematic coverage given to the subject makes this one of the most authoritative single-volume accounts of modern heterocyclic chemistry available and should be useful reference for those teaching a heterocyclic course. Covers the structure, reactivity and synthesis of all heterocyclic compounds as distilled from the larger 15-volume reference work Saves researchers time when they require important information on heterocycles--speeding them to thousands of clearly drawn chemical structures and pertinent reviews by leading experts Features 35% new material to compliment the completely revised text

Book Thermal Electrocyclic Reactions

Download or read book Thermal Electrocyclic Reactions written by Elliot Marvell and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermal Electrocyclic Reactions explores the applications of thermal electrocyclic reactions to stereospecific synthesis. This book is divided into nine chapters, and begins with a presentation of the theory of electrocylic reactions using orbital conversions through symmetry operations and correlation diagrams. Considerable chapters are devoted to various conjugate systems entering an electrocyclic process, including two-electron, four electron-three-, four-, and five-atom, and six electron-five-, and six-atom systems. The remaining chapters examine the electrocyclic reaction of longer systems, including eight or more p electrons, as well as conjugated systems with an odd number of electrons, which constitute a special case in the conservation of orbital symmetry. This book will be of great value to organic chemists and researchers.

Book Gulliver in the Country of Lilliput

Download or read book Gulliver in the Country of Lilliput written by Ilya G. Shenderovich and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-03-30 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Noncovalent interactions are the bridge between ideal gas abstraction and the real world. For a long time, they were covered by two terms: van der Waals interactions and hydrogen bonding. Both experimental and quantum chemical studies have contributed to our understanding of the nature of these interactions. In the last decade, great progress has been made in identifying, quantifying, and visualizing noncovalent interactions. New types of interactions have been classified—their energetic and spatial properties have been tabulated. In the past, most studies were limited to analyzing the single strongest interaction in the molecular system under consideration, which is responsible for the most important structural properties of the system. Despite this limitation, such an approach often results in satisfactory approximations of experimental data. However, this requires knowledge of the structure of the molecular system and the absence of other competing interactions. The current challenge is to go beyond this limitation. This Special Issue collects ideas on how to study the interplay of noncovalent interactions in complex molecular systems including the effects of cooperation and anti-cooperation, solvation, reaction field, steric hindrance, intermolecular dynamics, and other weak but numerous impacts on molecular conformation, chemical reactivity, and condensed matter structure.
