Book Axisymmetric Supersonic Flow in Rotating Impellers

Download or read book Axisymmetric Supersonic Flow in Rotating Impellers written by Arthur W. Goldstein and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: General equations are developed for isentropic frictionless, axisymmetric compressible flow in rotating impellers with blade forces eliminated in favor of the blade-surface function. The characteristic equations for supersonic flow are developed and a computing technique is utilized to find the effect of variations of design parameters on internal flow and work-input distribution.

Book Accelerations and Passenger Harness Loads Measured in Full scale Light airplane Crashes

Download or read book Accelerations and Passenger Harness Loads Measured in Full scale Light airplane Crashes written by A. Martin Eiband and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full-scale light-airplane crashes simulating stall-spin accidents were conducted to determine the decelerations to which occupants are exposed and the resulting harness forces encountered in this type of accident. Crashes at impact speeds from 42 to 60 miles per hour were studied. The airplanes used were of the familiar steel-tube, fabric-covered, tandem, two-seat type.

Book Rectangular wind tunnel Blocking Corrections Using the Velocity ratio Method

Download or read book Rectangular wind tunnel Blocking Corrections Using the Velocity ratio Method written by Rudolph W. Hensel and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calculations of the ratios of the velocity increments at test bodies to those at the tunnel walls caused by the solid blocking of these bodies within the walls of a closed rectangular wind tunnel are presented. The boides treated include two-dimensional airfoils; small bodies of revolution; straight, untapered, finite-span wings of varying span; and swept, untapered, finite-span wings of varying span. It is shown that, after wake blocking effects have been removed , the present method furnishes semiempirical blocking corrections for most wind-tunnel models and their components. The test section proportions of the Southern California Cooperative Wind Tunnel at CIT (ratio of height to width equal to 1/square root of 2) are used in the calculations.

Book Kinetics of Sintering Chromium Carbide

Download or read book Kinetics of Sintering Chromium Carbide written by W. G. Lidman and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sintering of chromium carbide under pressure was investigated in order to study the kinetics of grain growth and densification during this process. Densification was accompanied by grain growth, and density and grain size seem to be interdependent during this stage. Grain growth continued after densification was complete, and for this stage an activation energy for grain growth was obtained.

Book Electrical Techniques for Compensation of Thermal Time Lag of Thermocouples and Resistance Thermometer Elements

Download or read book Electrical Techniques for Compensation of Thermal Time Lag of Thermocouples and Resistance Thermometer Elements written by Charles E. Shepard and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 740 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Basic electrical networks are described that compensate for the thermal time lag of thermocouple and resistance thermometer elements. For a given set of operating conditions, networks requiring no amplifiers can provide a thirtyfold reduction in effective time lag. This improvement is obtained without attenuation of the voltage signal, but does result in a large reduction in the amount of electric power available because of an increase in the output impedance of the network. Networks used commercially available amplifiers can provide a thousandfold reduction in the effective time lag without attenuation of the alternating voltage signal or or the available electric power, but the improvement is often obtained at the expense of loss of the zero-frequency signal. The completeness of compensation is limited by the extent of off-design operation required.

Book Wear and Sliding Friction Properties of Nickel Alloys Suited for Cages of High temperature Rolling contact Bearings

Download or read book Wear and Sliding Friction Properties of Nickel Alloys Suited for Cages of High temperature Rolling contact Bearings written by Robert L. Johnson and published by . This book was released on 1952 with total page 754 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wear and sliding friction properties of a number of nickel alloys operating against hardened SAE 52100 steel were studied. The alloys were cast beryllium nickel, heat-treated beryllium nickel, cast Inconel, Nimonic 80, Inconel X, Refractalloy 26, and Discaloy. Some of the allows studied may be useful as material for cages of rolling-contact bearings that operate at high speeds with temperatures above 600 degrees F in projected aircraft turbine engines or for bearings that operate in corrosive mediums. Desirable operating properties and the absence of extreme mass welding of all the materials could be associated with the development of the sliding surfaces of a naturally formed film of nickel oxide. On the basis of wear and friction properties, cast Inconel performed very well in these experiments and compares favorably with nodular iron. Nimonic 80 also showed promise as a possible cage material.
