Book The Mind of Consciousness

Download or read book The Mind of Consciousness written by Ray Morose and published by Books by Ray Morose. This book was released on 2011 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mind of Consciousness The Mind of Consciousness is a book unfolding a new way, with new process methods to evaluate your existence. It is an experiential work written in textbook format that analytically delineates how and why consciousness and mind interface and function, exposing the inter-connective dependency of non-biological consciousness and the biologically created mind. Knowing how that interconnectivity interrelates provides avenues of exploration that reveal the fundamental nature of existence, unveiling an innate purpose and direction embedded within consciousness. This book works through all the major questions of existence, using reproducible and experiential logic, allowing everyone to experience the results of that exploration. Throughout your life you have two realities at war with one another: the primary ‘I am’ reality, formed from non-biological consciousness, and the secondary ‘I am this or that’ reality, formed by the biological mind. You may not be aware of, or even appreciate, the internal conflict these two inter-connective and inter-dependent realities create. However, you experience the resultant turmoil and confusion their subliminal battles establish by not having an experiential appreciation of how those realities are formed, function and potentially control your life. The text delineates causation for those ongoing internal battles and outlines processes to help overcome the sense of frustration, isolation and discord they generate. This experiential method of examination creates empirical processes that afford you the opportunity to make an informed choice, rather than a conditioned reaction: providing a more secure, productive, directional and enjoyable life. This book takes you into the core of your being, turning it inside out, exposing who and what you are by revealing a self-created shadow-world controlling your life without you being aware that control exists.

Book The Theory of Light and Matter

Download or read book The Theory of Light and Matter written by Andrew Porter and published by University of Georgia Press. This book was released on 2010-09-20 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These ten short stories explore loss and sacrifice in American suburbia. In idyllic suburbs across the country, from Philadelphia to San Francisco, narrators struggle to find meaning or value in their lives because of (or in spite of) something that has happened in their pasts. In "Hole," a young man reconstructs the memory of his childhood friend's deadly fall. In "The Theory of Light and Matter," a woman second-guesses her choice between a soul mate and a comfortable one. Memories erode as Porter's characters struggle to determine what has happened to their loved ones and whether they are responsible. Children and teenagers carry heavy burdens in these stories: in "River Dog" the narrator cannot fully remember a drunken party where he suspects his older brother assaulted a classmate; in "Azul" a childless couple, craving the affection of an exchange student, fails to set the boundaries that would keep him safe; and in "Departure" a suburban teenage boy fascinated with the Amish makes a futile attempt to date a girl he can never be close to. Memory often replaces absence in these stories as characters reconstruct the events of their pasts in an attempt to understand what they have chosen to keep. These struggles lead to an array of secretive and escapist behavior as the characters, united by middle-class social pressures, try to maintain a sense of order in their lives. Drawing on the tradition of John Cheever, these stories recall and revisit the landscape of American suburbia through the lens of a new generation.

Book Ecological Consequences of Artificial Night Lighting

Download or read book Ecological Consequences of Artificial Night Lighting written by Catherine Rich and published by Island Press. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While certain ecological problems associated with artificial night lighting are widely known-for instance, the disorientation of sea turtle hatchlings by beachfront lighting-the vast range of influences on all types of animals and plants is only beginning to be recognized. From nest choice and breeding success of birds to behavioral and physiological changes in salamanders, many organisms are seriously affected by human alterations in natural patterns of light and dark. Ecological Consequences of Artificial Night Lighting is the first book to consider the environmental effects of the intentional illumination of the night. It brings together leading scientists from around the world to review the state of knowledge on the subject and to describe specific effects that have been observed across a full range of taxonomic groups, including mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, fishes, invertebrates, and plants. Ecological Consequences of Artificial Night Lighting provides a scientific basis to begin addressing the challenge of conserving the nighttime environment. It cogently demonstrates the vital importance of this until-now neglected topic and is an essential new work for conservation planners, researchers, and anyone concerned with human impacts on the natural world.

Download or read book Boundless Awareness written by Michael A. Rodriguez and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2018-04-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suffering is part of the human experience, and everyone in the world is seeking relief. But there is something greater, something that we all share, indeed something that we all are, that can alleviate that pain: it is the formless presence—the loving, boundless awareness—at the heart of all experience. This book cuts through the esotericism surrounding spiritual awakening to help you realize your true nature and show you how to integrate that realization into everyday life. In life, there is turmoil and inevitable pain. There is war, hunger, failure, heartbreak, and trauma. We struggle in relationships and with our attachments, thoughts, feelings, and memories, trapped in the prison of psychological self-consciousness. Most of us have been conditioned to believe that we are all separate individuals to whom uncomfortable or upsetting things happen. We feel alone and isolated from the world, and convince ourselves that the beauty, truth, and goodness we long for are out of our reach. Really, it’s this imaginary division that causes us to suffer. Boundless Awareness seeks to relieve this suffering by drawing attention to the beautiful, encompassing, cohesive nature of awareness itself, as found in your direct experience. Using practical, contemplative exercises and brief meditations, the author guides you along a broad path of spiritual awakening, deconstructing your delusions of self and separation and integrating a concept of existence that is free from the suffering of individual selfhood, but which acknowledges the attachments, traumatic experiences, and emotional pain of being human. With this book, you’ll come to realize your innate perfection as the uncreated light of boundless awareness, and soften into the open, spacious, and unconditionally loving essence of existence. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of pain and attachments, and learn to meet these experiences with a new resilience. Most importantly, you’ll find guidance on how to embody and express this awakening as love, joy, service, and creativity in your daily life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than a thousand years, the Śūraṅgama Sūtra has been held in high regard in the Mahāyāna Buddhist countries of East and Southeast Asia and has been as popular as the Lotus, Heart, and Diamond Sūtras. Its wealth of theoretical and practical instruction in living a spiritual life often made it the first major text studied by newly ordained monks, particularly in the Chan tradition. This Sutra is regarded as a complete and practical manual for spiritual practice that will lead to enlightenment. It provides instruction on understanding one’s own Buddha-nature, the potential within every being for becoming a Buddha. The Sutra explains how and why this nature is hidden and how we can uncover it and recognize it as our own true mind. The Sutra also explains why personal integrity and purity of conduct are prerequisites for spiritual awakening. It presents the principles of meditation, and provides guidelines for discerning correct practices from those which deviate into wrong ones. It explains how our own intentional acts, whether physical, verbal, or mental, result in karmic experiences, including rebirths into various levels of being, both human and non-human. At the heart of the Sūtra is the Śūraṅgama Mantra. The Sutra promises that the practice of reciting this mantra, in the context of the other practices taught in the Sutra, can successfully eliminate internal or external obstacles that block the path of spiritual progress

Download or read book Vedantic Meditation written by David Frawley and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2000-09-07 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As yoga gains popularity across the U.S., many people are becoming interested in its traditional Vedic roots. While Buddhist meditation is well represented on bookshelves, there has been little Vedantic philosophy written in lay terms until now. Author David Frawley guides readers through the challenges of cultivating awareness, calming the mind, and practicing meditation according to Vedanta and Hinduism. He examines how cultural knowledge systems in the West lead individuals to disillusionment, and speaks about how meditation can aid in understanding the true nature of one's thoughts, emotions, and perceptions. Frawley explores meditation support practices such as yoga, mantras, kundalini, and pranayama, as well as the role of gurus, and concludes with a short, more technical essay on self-inquiry.

Book The Awareness Principle

Download or read book The Awareness Principle written by Peter Wilberg and published by Exposure Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If people get 'lost' in thought or in their emotions, in their work or chores - or in any element of their everyday activity and experience - then they may be 'conscious' but they are not aware. Awareness of the different elements of our conscious action and experience frees us from restricting attachments to them - from a confining identification of ourselves with anything we think, feel or do. This 'Awareness Principle' is both a liberatory life principle and a life practice of a sort long recognised in yogic philosophy. As well as being a healing and freeing life principle and practice, The Awareness Principle is also a new foundational principle for the sciences and religion - offering the sole possible philosophical basis for both a new Theology and a truly scientific 'Theory of Everything'. For the most fundamental scientific fact is not the objective existence of a manifest universe of bodies in space and time but awareness of that universe. In contrast to all current pseudo-scientific attempts to explain awareness or 'consciousness' however, The Awareness Principle is the recognition that awareness cannot - in principle - be explained by or reduced to any thing whatsoever that we are aware of, whether it be matter, energy or the human body and brain. Awareness is neither a by-product of our bodies and brains nor the private property of any being or beings - human or divine. What we call 'God' is neither 'Being' with a big 'B' nor some Supreme Being 'with' awareness. Instead God is awareness - and the entire universe its manifestation. And just as there can be nothing outside space or before time so there can be nothing outside or before the absolute and divine Awareness that is'God'. Neither the Big Bang of physics, the Big Being of philosophy nor a Supreme Being of the sort worshipped in the Abrahamic faiths - all expressions of 'The Being Principle' - can explain the fundamental nature of God and the Universe. The Awareness Principle can, based as it is on the recognition that: "The being of all things that exist in awareness in turn depends on awareness." (Abhinavagupta) Peter Wilberg's writings on 'The Awareness Principle', collected for the first time in this volume, reaffirm and rearticulate in a new and clear cut way a centuries-old understanding of Indian tantric philosophy - namely that the '1st Principle' of the universe is not matter or energy but the innate potentials and power (Shakti) of pure awareness (Shiva).
